Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka

Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, a female Ewok, held the title of Princess in Bright Tree Village. She was the offspring of Chief Chirpa and Ra-Lee, and the younger sibling of Asha. Progressing in her life, she ascended to the role of Chieftainess of Bright Tree Village and became the spouse of Wicket Wystri Warrick. During her younger years, she was part of a close-knit group of friends that consisted of Wicket, Paploo, Teebo, and Latara. These young Ewoks experienced numerous escapades on the forest moon of Endor, encountering creatures such as Gupins, Yuzzums, Duloks, and Morag, the Tulgah witch.

Having lost her mother and sister at a young age, Kneesaa often longed for their return, but she was not lonely due to the presence of her companions. She was regarded as the more responsible Ewok among her peers and often served as a voice of reason. However, this did not prevent her from participating in the adventures her friends embarked on; she joined them despite being in training to succeed her father as chieftainess of Bright Tree Village. On occasion, Kneesaa challenged her father's views on sensitive subjects, such as the activation of the Tree of Light, an event in which she and Latara secretly took part.

After sneaking out one night, Kneesaa encountered her sister, Asha, leading to their reunion. Chief Chirpa was overjoyed at the return of his daughter. Later, danger threatened the Ewok village when Imperials and an Imperial scientist named Raygar captured the Ewoks' cherished Sunstar. Raygar intended to use the Sunstar to assassinate Emperor Palpatine, but Wicket intervened, causing Raygar to miss Palpatine's shuttle. Kneesaa then recovered the Sunstar, freed Wicket, and, with her partner, defeated Raygar. The Sunstar was subsequently destroyed during a battle against the Imperials and the Griagh near the Endor shield generator bunker. The Empire continued to occupy Endor until the Battle of Endor, where the Empire was ultimately defeated. Kneesaa later wed Wicket Wystri Warrick and, following her father's passing, co-ruled Bright Tree Village with him.

Biography

Early life

Childhood

Kneesaa's name was derived from the Queen of the Forests figure in Ewok mythology. In her early years as a wokling, Kneesaa, along with her mother Ra-Lee and older sister Asha, were attacked by a hanadak within the forest. When Chief Chirpa arrived later, he found only Kneesaa; Ra-Lee had perished, and there was no sign of Asha except for her torn cloak. Chirpa raised Kneesaa as a single parent. Although she grew up as an only child and often wished for her sister's return, Kneesaa did not experience loneliness.

Ra-Lee and Kneesaa

As Kneesaa matured, she cultivated close friendships with her childhood sweetheart Wicket (a young scout with aspirations of becoming an Ewok warrior), Teebo (another young scout possessing unique wizard-like abilities), and her closest friend Latara (a young flutist with potential as a hoodmaker). Being more level-headed than her three companions, she frequently offered guidance when they found themselves in precarious situations or embarked on ill-advised adventures. Throughout her childhood escapades, Kneesaa was often seen wearing a blue gem on her hood, a gift from Asha on the day of her disappearance.

The first attack of Phlogs

On one occasion, while Kneesaa and Wicket were foraging for berries in the forest, they stumbled upon two creatures attempting to fell the forest's trees. Upon relaying this information to the Council of Elders, the Elders initially expressed skepticism but ultimately decided to dispatch a scouting party the following day. Dissatisfied with the Council's decision, the young Ewoks sought counsel from the shaman Logray, who identified the creatures as Phlogs from Simoom. Logray provided them with a white powder, which they successfully used on the Phlogs, causing them to retreat to their own land and leave the Ewoks' forest undisturbed. During the ensuing celebration, both Wicket and Kneesaa were granted honorary membership in the Council of Elders.

Kneesaa after winning the Log Ride Contest

The midsummer festival

The annual midsummer festival held special significance for the Ewoks, as it provided an opportunity for them to showcase their talents through various contests. Wicket encouraged Kneesaa to participate in the basket-weaving contest, but she expressed a preference for a competition in which she had less experience. When she showed interest in the archery contest, an event Wicket intended to win, he revealed his sexist views on women in athletics. Despite Wicket's attempts to discourage her, Kneesaa entered the contest. Wicket continued to belittle her and promote his chauvinistic viewpoint. Undeterred, Kneesaa entered the vine-swinging contest and inadvertently found herself in the perilous Log Ride Contest, which she won. This feat impressed Wicket, leading him to apologize to Kneesaa and acknowledge that women could indeed excel in sports. Kneesaa then suggested that Wicket might consider entering the basket-weaving contest the following year.

Making magic potions

One summer, the Duloks (a rival tribe of the Ewoks) sabotaged a dam in an attempt to flood the forest, inundate Bright Tree Village, and destroy the Ewoks' trees. The renowned Ewok woodcutter Chukha-Trok felled a massive tree, which stemmed the flow of water and allowed the Ewoks to repair the dam. However, the sound of water reverberated through a vast cavern beneath the forest floor, awakening the Kradak, a colossal beast that had been dormant for millennia. The creature emerged from the ground, creating a massive hole, and began to topple trees with each swing of its formidable neck. Chief Chirpa was filled with dread, fearing that the Kradak could destroy the village by simply collapsing the support tree.

The first shaman, Logray, rushed to his hut, but a falling branch struck him, rendering him unconscious. Kneesaa knelt beside him and, upon realizing that Logray was not seriously injured, darted into the shaman's hut. Having observed Logray concocting magic potions, the Princess attempted to create one that could be used against the Kradak. After completing her first potion, she ran outside, clutching a bowl filled with steaming green liquid. However, while still on the upper level of the village, Kneesaa stumbled, spilling the potion on all the Ewoks fighting the beast below. The potion was a sleeping draught, causing every Ewok to lose consciousness, except for Kneesaa and her friends Wicket and Teebo.

Teebo, Kneesaa and Wicket celebrating the victory against the Kradak

Kneesaa quickly returned to Logray's hut, prepared another potion (this one yellow), and returned to her two friends with the bowl of potion, pouring the liquid over the Kradak. The beast began to shrink, becoming smaller than an Ewok's hand. This time, Kneesaa had created a shrinkroot potion. Shortly thereafter, the other Ewoks regained consciousness. Kneesaa and Wicket constructed a tiny cage for the diminutive beast, and the couple, along with Teebo, celebrated their victory.

Saved by Wicket and Teebo

Kneesaa, Wicket, and Teebo developed a fondness for berry picking as a pastime. However, during one of these excursions, Kneesaa stepped on a poisonous nightshade thorn. She was immediately taken to the village, where it was announced that Kneesaa could only be saved if they obtained sunnydew nectar from the sunnydew flower—a resource that Bright Tree Village had completely exhausted. Upon learning this, Wicket and Teebo embarked on a quest to find the nectar from the only available source, an Ogre named Gantu. They ultimately succeeded in acquiring some nectar, albeit not directly from Gantu, and saved Kneesaa's life.

The chieftainess-to-be training years

Heiress of chieftain

During a celebration for her birthday, Kneesaa received several exceptional gifts. One was a baby bordok named Baga, whom Wicket and Teebo had diligently trained for her over several weeks. Another gift was presented by her father: a ruling staff crafted from a branch of the Gemwood tree. Chirpa declared that should anything befall him, Kneesaa would become the village's new ruler. This announcement was met with disapproval from some of the elders; First Elder Kazak voiced his concern, stating that all Ewok leaders had historically been men, and that "the leader of the Ewoks should at least be sturdy enough to carry a spear into battle!"

Captain Krag provoking Kneesaa before his defeat

Kneesaa was deeply troubled by this, but she soon had an opportunity to prove herself. When a group of Zorbian space pirates led by Captain Krag attacked the village to steal the Gemwood tree, she rallied the women and children Ewoks and successfully defeated the Zorbians without any Ewok casualties. Her father was immensely proud of her, as were Kazak and the other elders. They admitted their error and acknowledged that Kneesaa would be, and already was, a strong leader.

Fight for a sacred wood

Kneesaa and Teebo attack a Quork guard, to save their friend Wicket.

Chief Chirpa later designated Kneesaa, Wicket, and Teebo as the guests of honor for the harvest ceremony. This distinction allowed them to travel to a location on Endor where the mountains and the forest converged, a location Wicket had previously scouted, to harvest the special light wood used by the Ewoks to construct their hang gliders. Upon arriving, they discovered that the trees had already been harvested by the Quorks. While attempting to escape, Wicket was captured by a devil beast. The Quorks then presented Wicket and the harvested wood as gifts to their king, Marlox. The king ordered Wicket to build a glider for him, but Wicket refused and insulted the king. Wicket was subsequently sentenced to solitary confinement in a cell without food or water. Left behind, Kneesaa and Teebo searched for Wicket. Before Wicket was even placed in his cell, his two friends attempted to rescue him, but their efforts failed, and all three Ewoks were imprisoned. Marlox later coerced the Ewok boys into building him a glider by threatening Kneesaa's life if they refused. The Ewoks outsmarted the king by constructing a glider that would not fly, and they rescued Kneesaa and returned home with the sacred wood for the harvest ceremony.

Saving a baby foonar

Kneesaa saving the baby Dooni from the alien invaders

One day, Kneesaa and Wicket encountered Dooni, a baby foonar who had become separated from his mother, while they were in the forest. As they set out to find the missing mother, Wicket fell into a large hole in the ground and injured his ankle. He surmised that the hole was intended for foonars. After Kneesaa rescued Wicket, they discovered further evidence of this with a prodding rod, which Wicket used as a crutch to alleviate his injured ankle. The couple soon discovered the ship of the foonar-capturing invaders, and Wicket quickly scaled the outside of the ship and observed the activities inside. However, the ship's thin viewport was not only unable to block sound waves but also unable to withstand the weight of a small Ewok. Wicket shattered the window and fell into the ship. After a brief skirmish with the aliens, Wicket escaped through the window he had entered. The aliens dismissed one Ewok as a threat, but they underestimated Wicket Warrick. He learned of the aliens' plan to use the foonars to power their "harvester" to cut down the forest's trees. Wicket and Kneesaa promptly hijacked the harvester machine, and while Kneesaa battled the alien invaders, Wicket demonstrated his technological skills by engaging the blade and directing the machine toward the invaders' own ship. As the aliens fled the moon, Dooni's mother destroyed the harvester and was reunited with her child.

Some days later, Kneesaa was unable to dissuade Wicket from stealing Logray's staff to demonstrate magic tricks he was learning from the shaman to Kneesaa and Teebo. The Ice Demon Stagorr observed the young Ewoks through his magical ice mirror. When Wicket used the staff to summon a cool freeze from the Ice Mountain, Stagorr tricked Wicket into summoning a wind tunnel from there, inadvertently transporting Wicket into the heart of the mountain. When Kneesaa and Teebo informed Logray of what had transpired, the old shaman departed to rescue Wicket from Stagorr.

Mount Sorrow

When Teebo was afflicted with the Perilous Laughing Spell, Kneesaa and Wicket soon learned that the only remedy was the tears of the sentient mountain Mount Sorrow. After traveling to the mountain with Wicket and Teebo, they eventually managed to communicate with the Mountain. After much difficulty, Teebo decided that he would rather remain under the spell than risk harm to his friends. Sorrow was deeply touched by this statement and wept for Teebo.

Helping Chief Chirpa to fight the Kreegon

One day, Chief Chirpa ventured out alone to confront the Kreegon, a deceased, dangerous, and large predator resurrected by Morag's magic. After witnessing the reborn monster through Logray's crystal image spinner, Kneesaa resolved to assist her father. Wicket volunteered to accompany her, and the two young Ewoks set off together. Several hours later, the couple located and freed Chirpa (who had been trapped by Morag), and the three Ewoks departed to find the Kreegon.

Kneesaa (with a Logray's amulet), Chirpa and Wicket

The Kreegon was found destroying trees and heading toward Bright Tree Village. The predator was under Morag's control and did not notice the Ewoks calling to him. Kneesaa threw Logray's amulet at the monster, creating an explosion that attracted its attention. The Kreegon began to pursue the three Ewoks. They followed Chirpa's plan: when they encountered Morag again, the three Ewoks jumped to evade Morag's blast. The witch struck the Kreegon's eye, causing the predator to revert to a skeleton. The Kreegon's bones covered Morag, and Chirpa, Kneesaa, and Wicket returned home.

R2-D2 and C-3PO

On the morning of the day the Ewoks were scheduled to seal a peace treaty with their longtime adversaries, the Duloks, Wicket and Kneesaa observed a blazing object plummeting from the sky. The couple followed Chirpa into Logray's hut, where the shaman interpreted his fortune stones as indicating that the blinding light was a sign of good fortune for that special day. Wicket was among the party that ventured to the swamp where the object had crashed. The other Ewoks began to flee when the object, an escape pod, began to move, but Wicket remained behind when the alien "Star Child" emerged from the pod. The delighted Ewoks fed the child honey and began to escort him back to their village.

However, upon hearing a strange sound, Wicket and Kneesaa returned to the crash site and discovered two droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, whom they initially mistook for demons. When the droids pursued them, the Ewoks fled, but in his haste, Wicket tripped the wire of a Dulok trap, causing a boulder large enough to crush both the Ewoks and the droids to fall. The group was saved when R2-D2 extended his third tread to stand on and used his other two legs to catch the boulder over their heads and toss it aside. When C-3PO explained to Wicket and Kneesaa in their language that their "Star Child," Prince Plooz, was not a good omen for the Ewok/Dulok treaty but rather a rebellious prince and the key to preventing interplanetary war, Wicket surmised that the trap they had just escaped indicated that the Duloks were not genuinely sincere about the proposed peace treaty.

Wicket and Kneesaa meet R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Kneesaa, Wicket, and the droids returned to Bright Tree Village to warn the tribe, only to discover that the Peace Council had already departed with Prince Plooz to meet with the Duloks. By the time Wicket, Kneesaa, and the droids reached the bridge where the two parties were to meet, Gorneesh, the Dulok king, had already kidnapped young Plooz and was having his men sever the ropes of the bridge while the Ewoks were still on it. However, when Ibleam's light shone on the highly reflective C-3PO and the Duloks saw him approaching, they feared he was a glowing Ewok demon and abandoned their attack. Wicket then realized that C-3PO was the figure of Logray's prophecy, not the Star Child as they had previously believed.

When young Plooz attempted to cross the unstable bridge, Wicket, knowing the child would never make it across, grabbed the end of a rope provided by the ever-resourceful R2-D2, tied it around his waist, and jumped off the cliff, grabbing hold of the child just in time. After the astromech reeled the two back up to solid ground, the Ewoks escorted Plooz and the droids back to their starship so that they could return to their own place and time to settle the Alzarian/Sooman conflict.

With the Fleebogs

Kneesaa once again demonstrated her worth when she was shrunk and abducted by the Fleebogs. Despite her continued shrinking, she triumphed over the ra-lugg beast and proved to the Fleebog that even small beings could overcome significant threats.

Morag's thorn monster

When the shaman Logray decided to take a short vacation, Kneesaa and Wicket assisted him in carrying his belongings to his vacation spot and volunteered to tend to his herb garden back home. Wicket struggled with the gardening, proclaiming himself "a scout, not a farmer!" While Kneesaa cautioned him against over-watering the plants, Wicket noticed a flash of light emanating from the tree huts. Upon reaching the village, the duo discovered that the witch Morag had arrived to destroy the Ewoks. She conjured a glowing thorn bush from the ground, which would grow stronger by drawing up all the moisture from the surrounding area, ultimately killing the forest.

Kneesaa runs from Morag and her thorn monster.

As Kneesaa and Wicket journeyed to retrieve Logray and bring him back to their village, they unexpectedly encountered the fearsome Morag's beast. Wicket initially hampered the creature's progress by drenching it in a generous quantity of honey, followed by securing it to a nearby tree with strong vines. Despite their efforts, they eventually reached the shaman. However, Logray, trapped under Morag's enchantment, entrusted his staff to Wicket, hoping he could halt the rapidly expanding thorn bush. During their journey, Wicket employed the staff to suspend Morag's beast, characterized by its sharp fangs, in mid-air. Upon reaching the plant, Wicket attempted to use Logray's staff to stop it, but his efforts proved futile, as Morag had transformed the plant into a massive, ambulatory thorn monster.

The Ewoks fled from the monstrous plant, but Wicket devised a strategy to neutralize the threat. They made their way towards the lake situated near the hot springs, plunging into the water for a swim. When the beast pursued them into the water, it began to expand at an alarming rate, ultimately resulting in a spectacular explosion (following Kneesaa's understanding of the effects of over-watering plants), which caused a rainfall throughout the forest.

Captain Zornak's captive

When Chief Chirpa and Logray found it necessary to journey to the sacred Spirit Tree to express their gratitude for the year's blessings bestowed upon their tribe, a lottery was held to select Teebo as the tribe's leader for the day. Unfortunately, Teebo failed in his responsibilities, abandoning the village to escape the villagers' anger.

Shortly thereafter, an extraterrestrial being, Captain Zornak, arrived and presented Kneesaa and Wicket with crystals as gifts. However, these crystals possessed magical properties and transformed the pair into Zornak's slaves. Consequently, they assisted Zornak in distributing the enchanted crystals to all the villagers. Zornak and his crew intended to command the enslaved Ewoks to mine Endorian gems, planning to depart Endor aboard their spaceship with their newly acquired workforce.

Upon Teebo's return, he discovered the village deserted. Shortly after, he uncovered the truth regarding Kneesaa and the other villagers' enslavement. Subsequently, Teebo liberated Wicket, and together they compelled Zornak to release Kneesaa and the rest of the Ewoks, forcing him to leave Endor with his crew.

Kneesaa, the Advisor

On occasion, Kneesaa took on the role of an Elder, a suggestion made by her father and other established Elders. In one instance, while she and Wicket were bathing their pet bordok, Baga, Paploo invited them and Teebo to participate in a "relaxing" game of drop-the-sack. Kneesaa declined the invitation and left the three boys to their "silly game."

Hours later, when the Wisties, under Morag's spell, ignited a forest fire near Bright Tree Village, Kneesaa joined forces with the three boys and Latara to protect the trees. They doused the trees with Logray's magic foam as they soared above them on their hang gliders. The Ewoks received assistance from Queen Izrina and other Wisties who had been freed from the curse by the magic foam.

Participating in Wicket's duties

While gathering sunberries with Kneesaa, Wicket rescued her from the clutches of a mantigrue, which they later discovered was sent by Morag to steal their sunberry trees. Although Wicket desired to assist the Ewoks in their plan to render the trees invisible using shadowroot soap, he was instead assigned babysitting duties, which included bathing the woklings. Kneesaa volunteered to help Wicket with this task, gaining the woklings' affection. Some Duloks, observing from nearby, conceived a plan to steal the Ewoks' bathing soap to eliminate their bug problem. Upon returning to the village, Wicket discovered that many of the trees had become invisible, but since Logray had overlooked those near the river, Kneesaa, Wicket, and the children offered to coat them with shadowroot soap.

Kneesaa shows her father some Dulok footprints she found at Bright Tree Village.

Kneesaa pointed out some Dulok footprints she had discovered at Bright Tree Village to her father.

When the Duloks pilfered soap from Bright Tree Village, they inadvertently took more than just bug repellent, as they had mistakenly taken the shadowroot soap. While the Ewoks were treating the trees near the river, Kneesaa and Wicket overheard the Duloks' voices as they passed by, but they remained unseen. Upon returning to the Woklings, they discovered that the children had covered themselves with the remaining soap instead of the trees. The pair returned to the village to report that they had not coated all the trees. Kneesaa identified some Dulok footprints, and the Ewoks learned of the Duloks' scheme after consulting with Logray. The shaman subsequently tasked Wicket, Kneesaa, and their friends with gathering bugs. Wicket was then sent on a mission to infiltrate the Duloks' camp and replace their soap with a new concoction made by Logray that would attract bugs. Although Wicket was discovered by King Gorneesh, he ultimately succeeded in swapping the soaps. As the Duloks bathed with the magic soap, Kneesaa and Latara released some bugs, which then swarmed the Duloks.

However, after dealing with the Duloks, Wicket realized he had spilled the magic soap into a puddle. Regretting his failure to his tribe, and with Kneesaa's encouragement, Wicket collected a portion of the puddle and sprinkled the liquid over the remaining visible bushes while swinging from a vine. The mantigrue returned to the village, but it departed upon finding no sunberries.

The Phlogs' Second Coming

Kneesaa and Latara were the first to observe the Phlogs' return to the Ewoks' territory. When Kneesaa recounted the event to the Council of Elders, Wicket listened intently. Simultaneously, Teebo's younger sister, Malani, began to show romantic interest in Wicket. Later, Wicket mocked Malani with his close friends, making his lack of interest in her abundantly clear. Kneesaa did not display jealousy, but she questioned Wicket's harsh words regarding Malani. The young Malani overheard their conversation and was deeply hurt. As the four teen Ewoks continued to play, a small munyip informed Teebo that Malani had run off into the forest.

Now concerned, the four set out to find Malani, their search becoming urgent when the Phlogs suddenly began to rampage for an unknown reason. They were pursued by the Phlogs but managed to escape. While Wicket and Teebo were alone, searching for Malani, Kneesaa and Latara informed Chirpa and Logray about the Phlogs' renewed aggression, claiming that the Ewoks had kidnapped Nahkee, their youngest son. While atop a steep rock, the four Ewoks were talking and watching the Phlogs, who were on the floor. Zut found the four Ewoks, and threw some big stones against them, crashing the steep rock and making the girls drop down there. But Logray used his magic to turn a tree into a giant hand, and it saved the two young Ewoks. Out of Phlogs' view, Kneesaa asked Latara to find Nahkee, the giant baby Phlog.

Latara and Kneesaa playing and singing a lullaby for the Duloks

Shortly after, Kneesaa and Latara were apprehended by Dulok scouts and taken to the Dulok swamp, where Wicket, Teebo, Malani, and Nahkee were already imprisoned. Nahkee, it turned out, was merely a pawn in an elaborate scheme devised by Morag and the Duloks. The Ewoks, now captives of King Gorneesh, plotted their escape, and Wicket apologized to Malani for hurting her feelings. Kneesaa began humming a lullaby that her late mother had sung to her and Asha years earlier. Lady Urgah ordered Kneesaa to sing the same lullaby to the Duloks, and the young Princess began to sing with the sound of Latara's flute. Nahkee and all the Duloks fell asleep. The Ewoks successfully escaped the Duloks and reunited Nahkee with his parents, thwarting the Duloks' plot and subjecting them to Morag's wrath.

A day spent with the Warricks

Kneesaa and Deej Warrick on the fishing trip

Kneesaa developed a close friendship with all the members of the Warrick family. One day, the Princess was enjoying a fishing outing with Deej and his three sons, Wicket Wystri Warrick (Kneesaa's sweetheart since their childhood), Weechee, and Willy. Suddenly, Deej and the other Ewoks struggled to reel in the enormous fish Deej had hooked. The Ewoks all fell back as the fish got away. Deej fell harder than the others and cut his arm on a deadly Rokna tree fungus. The Ewoks brought Deej to the medicine man Logray, who dispatched the Warrick brothers to gather the necessary ingredients for their father's cure.

Kneesaa remained in the Warricks' hut with Logray, the ailing Deej, his wife Shodu, and their youngest child, Winda. When the Warrick brothers returned with the required ingredients, the three and the ladies waited around Deej while Logray prepared the healing potion. Logray successfully restored Deej's health, much to the delight of the Warrick family and Kneesaa.

Traveling companions with the Jindas

Kneesaa, Wicket, Teebo, and Paploo were planning to inspect Paploo's new raft and invited Latara to join them, but Latara was unable to attend because her parents had tasked her with cleaning their hut. When the Travelling Jindas arrived in town, Chief Chirpa granted them permission to stay at Bright Tree Village and perform their show, which the Ewoks thoroughly enjoyed. The following day, Latara decided to stow away with the Jinda travelers to refine her flute skills, making Wicket, Kneesaa, and Teebo promise not to reveal her whereabouts. However, the elder Ewoks discovered Latara's disappearance, and fearing the worst, Latara's friends set out to find her. Logray gave Kneesaa a magic seed for use in an emergency and sent them on their way.

Kneesaa, Paploo, Wicket and Teebo disguised as Jindas

Wicket tracked the Jindas' path by locating scarves and other items they had left behind, and he helped save Kneesaa from a precarious situation on a rickety bridge. They located the Jindas just as a pair of Duloks were abducting Latara to babysit their children. Rather than pursue the Duloks, Wicket decided that they should disguise themselves as Jindas and perform a show for the Duloks. When the plan deviated from expectations and their disguise was exposed, they fled, pursued by the Duloks. When Kneesaa became trapped in the swamp and the Duloks closed in, Wicket halted the Duloks by throwing the magic seed Logray had given to Kneesaa into the water, causing a giant, tentacled creature to emerge and seize the Duloks. Subsequently, the Ewoks and the Jindas camped around a stake, where Latara informed Kneesaa and the others that she wished to return home, choosing to remain with her Ewok friends, even without fame and applause. Later, the young Ewoks returned to the village, while the Jindas continued on their journey.

Shifting traditions further

Prior to a Light Festival quest to rejuvenate the Tree of Light, Kneesaa raised more controversial issues regarding gender roles and traditions. The Princess requested to be the one to nourish the Tree of Light, joining Weechee, Willy, Teebo, and her cousin Paploo. However, her father, Chief Chirpa, stated that only young male Ewoks had performed this task in the past. When Kneesaa pleaded for the tradition to be changed, Chirpa refused.

Hours later, Kneesaa, her sweetheart Wicket, and her best friend Latara secretly joined the regular expedition to renew the Tree of Light, despite being forbidden due to their ages and the girls' gender. Fortunately, the trespassers acquitted themselves so well in the successful mission, despite the dangerous opposition from the Duloks, that they not only escaped punishment but were also awarded Silver Feathers of Bravery.

The fortunate stone

As the winter season approached, a group of Ewoks (Kneesaa, Wicket, Weechee, Willy, Paploo, Teebo, and Latara) were dispatched to barter for goods with the trader Mooth. As Chirpa had cautioned against wasting the village's surplus on anything "foolish," Wicket had personally collected and polished a bag of monmon seeds to trade for something of his own. Although the other Ewoks had their own preferences, Wicket decided to trade for a "lucky" stone, which he gifted to Kneesaa, as she was the only other one who liked it. Wicket and Kneesaa were falling in love with each other.

The Ewoks soon experienced a stroke of bad luck when a group of Skandits separated them from the wagon of goods and imprisoned them. However, when the Traveling Jindas passed through and learned that their former member Latara was in trouble, they put on a show for the Skandits and helped the Ewoks escape. The Ewoks and the Jindas then fled to Bright Tree Village.

Kneesaa giving the lucky stone to the Rock Wizard

Paploo and Weechee continued to mock Wicket about his lucky stone, while Logray helped free the Jindas from the Rock Wizard's curse, which compelled them to remain constantly on the move. The Rock Wizard himself then appeared at the village in a destructive rage, but he was stopped when he saw Kneesaa wearing her lucky stone—his missing tooth. Once his tooth was restored, the Wizard reverted to his jovial self and lifted the Jindas' curse. Chief Chirpa reminded the Jindas to not forget Kneesaa's little help, and Wicket reminded Paploo and Weechee of their comments about the "stupid little rock."

Ally of the Gupins

Kneesaa, Paploo, Wicket, and Mring-Mring defend the Gupin stronghold.

To repay Mring-Mring for his assistance in saving Deej, Wicket pledged to aid Mring-Mring in his quest to open the Juniper Chest, which would restore the Gupins' flying and shapeshifting abilities, enabling them to ward off the Grass Trekkers. Kneesaa, Teebo, and Paploo joined Wicket and Mring-Mring on their mission. The group traveled by canoe and through the Endorian Grasslands on the backs of Makants; Wicket remained steadfast in his commitment, and both Wicket and Kneesaa assured Mring-Mring that he possessed the power to save his people. The three asked to enter Gupin stronghold, but the Gupin scouts refused, telling that a Gupin who left the stronghold could never return. So Kneesaa tried to use her royal credential to convince the scouts, but only Mring-Mring did it, when told he had the key necessary to open the Juniper Chest.

Upon reaching the Gupin stronghold, Paploo and Wicket helped barricade the doors to keep out the Grass Trekkers. Mring-Mring successfully opened the chest, restoring his people's powers and assuming the throne as their new king. That night, the four Ewoks were honored guests at the Gupin celebration.

Morag's Demise

Sometime later, Teebo became the apprentice of the shaman Logray. Curious about the magic their friend was learning, Wicket, Kneesaa, and Latara spied on Teebo one day, only to discover that Logray had him performing household chores instead of casting spells. The three friends teased Teebo, so, to prove his sorcerer's abilities, Teebo led the group into the forest to showcase his magic. However, Teebo's tricks failed, and Wicket ridiculed him further.

As the Ewoks departed from Teebo, Wicket heard a woman singing, and they traced the voice to a beautiful felinoid in a glistening cave. However, appearances were deceiving, as the graceful creature transformed into a familiar old Tulgah, and the shining cave turned dark; the Ewoks had stumbled into Morag's trap.

Kneesaa and Latara saving Logray

As Morag had planned, Logray went to rescue the now enslaved young Ewoks, bringing the Sunstar with him. Logray was also ensnared, but Kneesaa and Latara fought Morag's Yuzzum guards and freed the shaman. Shortly after, Morag amplified her power by merging the Sunstar with her Shadowstone. She then used her volcanic lair to transform herself into a gigantic lava creature. The young Ewoks watched as she and Logray battled, but the Ewoks emerged victorious when Logray summoned a gusher of water, turning Morag into stone and ending the threat that had plagued Bright Tree Village for so many years.

Standing with Wicket

One night, Wicket beat the village drum, awakening the Ewoks to inform them that the Duloks had stolen his grandfather's battle wagon, which Wicket had rebuilt with Malani and Baga (Wicket's brothers and friends, including Kneesaa, didn't help him in the rebuilding). But the villagers did not share Wicket's concern, not even Chief Chirpa. Only Kneesaa sympathized with Wicket's loss.

The following day, Kneesaa and Latara were enjoying a picnic with some Ewok children when the Duloks passed by on Wicket's wagon (with the young Ewok scout in a jail) and ruined the picnic's food. Wicket lamented to Kneesaa about Gorneesh's plans to destroy the Ewoks' Soul Trees. Kneesaa immediately ran to inform her father about the Dulok plot. The Ewok warriors failed to defend the Soul Trees, but Malani and Baga rescued Wicket, and the two Ewoks defeated the Duloks and saved the trees.

Three lessons for a future leader

As Kneesaa's friends celebrated at an afternoon dance, the Princess left her chieftainess-in-training lesson at Logray's hut to join them. However, their dancing was interrupted when an ever-growing stranglethorn began wreaking havoc and taking over the village. When Kneesaa realized she was responsible, she set out to gather the three ingredients Logray needed to tame the wild plant. Fearing for Kneesaa's safety, Wicket joined her on her journey.

The first ingredient was Keet nectar. Kneesaa had an idea: the duo could climb up the Keet's palace with leaf-shoes soaked by some kind of glue that was around the palace. Once inside the Keets' labyrinthine hive, the duo evaded the unfriendly Keets and discovered their stockpile of nectar pearls. Next, they learned from a barber bird the proper way to retrieve a ganga root from the ground, and then had to flee with the last root so that the bird would not eat it. They needed to bore the root to extract its air inside and take it from the ground. And thirdly, Wicket spotted a Trome tree; however, the tree only had one branch left, and when the resident Tromes appeared, they pleaded with the Ewoks not to destroy their home. Kneesaa then came up with a new plan, and Wicket instead carried the three Tromes on his shoulders back to the village.

Kneesaa saving some Ewok children (Nippet, Wiley and Malani)

At the village, Kneesaa used the shoes to climb a tall tree where the stranglethorn imprisoned Malani, Nippet and Wiley. The four got off together. The other villagers followed at Kneesaa's plan: While the Tromes distracted the stranglethorn, Wicket sneaked into Logray's hut and retrieved the potion that would tame the plant. Logray instructed Wicket to place one drop into each of the plants mouths, but seeing how many heads the plant had sprouted, Wicket instead gathered a group of acorns into his satchel and poured the potion over them. Then he, the Tromes, and the Ewoks fed them to the plant until it shriveled back to its original size. Some minutes later, Logray said that Kneesaa learned her father's three lessons: the Hand's Lesson (when climbing the Keet's palace), the Head's Lesson (when discovered how to retrieve the ganga root) and the Heart's Lesson (when saving the Trome's tree). The villagers celebrated the victory, and Chief Chirpa became very proud of his daughter again.

The Return of Asha

Kneesaa reunited with her sister, Asha

One day, after her friends Paploo, Wicket, and Teebo had returned from their day's travels, they reported having seen an Ewok with red fur. Kneesaa, believing this mysterious Ewok to be her sister, ventured out in the middle of the night to search for her. Together with Wicket, she found Asha many years after their initial separation and brought her back to the village, much to the delight of Chief Chirpa.

Latara and Wicket's ill-advised schemes

Kneesaa spinning her lasso

Despite holding responsible positions within the tribe, Kneesaa's close friends continued to find themselves in trouble, just like herself. Latara requested Teebo to repair her broken crystal. Teebo informed her that he could not, nor could any Ewok, ever since the crystal cloak was stolen. It was taken by the Gracca, whom only the greatest of warriors could defeat. With this in mind, Latara knew whom to approach. She and Wicket boarded their gliders and flew to the Floating Mountain. After their less-than-graceful landing, the Gracca was alerted to their presence by a flying flower creature, which the Gracca turned into crystal (as he did everything he touched). Upon seeing the Ewoks, he attempted to stop them by causing massive crystals to rise from the ground. Then Kneesaa and Teebo arrived just in time to save them. Kneesaa spoke against Latara and Wicket's foolish plans.

When the Princess ordered the others to leave the Floating Mountain, the Gracca himself appeared to confront the Ewoks. After Teebo's magic failed, Kneesaa used her lasso to seize the crystal cloak, but it ended up falling into the lava below. Wicket provoked the enraged Gracca, causing him to crash and trap himself under a pile of crystal. All the young Ewoks were then able to return to the village.

Rescuing a group of mimphs

Wicket and Kneesaa saving a group of mimphs

Once upon a time, an unidentified green-tongued creature launched an assault on a party of mimphs, intending to devour them. However, Kneesaa and Wicket descended from the sky on a skin glider and successfully rescued the mimphs from danger.

A protector of the Soul Trees

Later on, Kneesaa was struggling immensely with her gardening endeavors. Despite her best efforts and earnest pleas, her final flower withered and died. Kneesaa became concerned that the village would lose faith in her ability to care for the Soul Trees. Wicket, Latara, and Teebo paid her a visit, but their words offered little comfort. Suddenly, in a gust of swirling wind, the Leaf Queen made her grand entrance. She requested Kneesaa to look after a unique plant for her. Kneesaa confessed that all the plants under her care had perished, but the Queen advised her to shower it with "lots of love" and assured her it would thrive. The Queen promised to return for the plant in three days, and with another gust of swirling wind, she disappeared.

Kneesaa in trouble with the wish plant

The other Ewoks playfully mocked Kneesaa about the plant. Wicket startled Baga, causing him to bolt off, dragging the wagon carrying the plant—and Kneesaa—along with him. They eventually crashed into a muddy pit. Kneesaa wished for something to help her clean up, and the plant miraculously produced a brush. Then, she wished for something beautiful to wear, and the plant provided her with a bow. Teebo realized that she possessed a wish plant. Latara decided that she desired a wish plant for herself, so she secretly took the plant from Kneesaa's hut later. However, the same greed consumed Wicket, and then Teebo, and all three repeatedly stole the plant from each other. By the time Kneesaa retrieved it, the plant had withered from overuse.

When the Queen returned for the plant, Wicket fabricated a story that the plant was resting because Kneesaa had been giving it naps and suggested she return later. The Queen warned them about the fate of the last creature who harmed one of her plants and, to demonstrate, she destroyed a nearby bag of leaves. The Queen declared that she would return before sunset. The Ewoks were terrified by this display, and after the Leaf Queen departed, they desperately tried to revive the plant, even attempting to find a replacement for the withered shrub. Wicket searched for another wish plant. Meanwhile, Teebo tried to heal the plant with a magic spell, but as usual, it didn't go as planned. Wicket returned empty-handed. Kneesaa wept over the plant, apologizing to it. She turned to leave the hut to confess the truth to the Leaf Queen, unaware that her tears had healed the plant. Kneesaa began to apologize, and her friends joined in. But when the Queen took the plant, they all saw that it was healthy. The Queen then assured Kneesaa that she would one day take excellent care of the Soul Trees. The wish plant then sprouted some seeds for Kneesaa, which the Queen instructed her to plant before the first snowfall. Many of the Ewoks now coveted the wish-plant seeds.

The couple during the Harvest Festival

Wicket and Kneesaa at the Harvest Festival

When Wicket and Teebo departed from Bright Tree Village to reside in an old tree fort in the forest, Kneesaa realized that the boys would be absent from the village's Harvest Festival that evening. Therefore, Kneesaa and Latara delivered some stew to them for dinner. However, Wicket and Latara engaged in a culinary dispute, resulting in Wicket being covered in stew.

The following night, Wicket and Teebo returned to the village, accompanied by a new acquaintance, Larry. Kneesaa became content with enjoying the remainder of the Harvest Festival alongside Wicket.

The two princesses

While she was laundering Ewok garments, Latara observed Kneesaa riding with Baga and expressed her desire to be a Princess like Kneesaa for a single day. Latara believed that a princess's life was devoid of chores. Consequently, Kneesaa granted Latara the title of Princess for one day to demonstrate the arduous nature of a real princess's life. Kneesaa commissioned Wicket and Teebo to serve as loyal servants to "Princess" Latara. Kneesaa secretly offered Wicket a Pearl of Patience in exchange for his Belt of Honor if he would cooperate with her plan. "Princess" Latara displayed little regard for Wicket and Teebo, her "peasant" servants who carried her throne around the village. Wicket eventually grew weary of Latara's treatment of him and revealed that he was only obeying her to acquire the item that Kneesaa had offered for his belt. This, coupled with Teebo's poorly phrased compliment, caused Latara to burst into tears, and she fled into the woods alone.

Kneesaa complaining about Latara's joke

When Latara's three friends began searching for her later, Wicket noticed footprints leading to the grotto of the Gorphs. Kneesaa instructed Wicket and Teebo to assist Latara. After a lengthy descent, the trio discovered that Latara had become engaged to Prince Vork. Wicket devised a plan to rescue their faux-princess, but the arrival of Gorph guards forced them to improvise a new strategy. Wicket tackled one guard while Kneesaa dealt with the other. Upon hearing Kneesaa's cries, Latara fled, promising to seek the real Princess to Vork. Evidently, Kneesaa did not appreciate Latara's joke. The four young Ewoks raced towards the grotto's exit as the Gorphs pursued them. When Wicket realized that the ramp they had slid down on the way in was too slippery to climb back up, he seized Latara's heavy crown and hurled it at the Gorphs, knocking them all the way back to the Gorph throne room. Once they had escaped the grotto, Kneesaa, Wicket, and Teebo all agreed that Latara's reign of ordering the Ewoks around was over. Kneesaa once again became the sole Princess of her tribe.

Baga in danger

Kneesaa riding with Baga

Kneesaa was riding with Baga, a few hours prior to attending the Shadow Night Festival with Wicket. However, Kneesaa and Baga were discovered by the Raich, and the two became terrified. The Raich was inadvertently released by Wicket, who had taken the Raich's hat hoping to use it as a costume for the Shadow Night Festival. Kneesaa fell into a giant flower, and Baga was captured by the Raich. After Kneesaa freed herself from the flower, she found her friends Wicket, Teebo, and Latara. The three did not allow the brave Princess to go alone. Wicket volunteered to fight the beast, but the Ewoks decided they should instead contact Logray.

Rather than face disgrace to the tribe for releasing the Raich, Wicket chose to find the Two-headed Gonster to have a new cap made for the monster. The Ewoks flew on their hang-gliders to the Twin Hills and landed, following a brief encounter with the Gonster's hoosha. After negotiating with the Gonster to create a new cap, Wicket and Kneesaa flew to the Raich's cave in the Dead Forest to administer a potion to slow the Raich down. However, Wicket's attempt with the potion failed, and he and Kneesaa were instead captured and tied up.

That night, Teebo and Latara flew to the cave with the new magic cap, and Teebo freed his friends while the Raich slept. But the Raich awoke before the Ewoks could escape, and he chased Wicket and his friends into the woods. Kneesaa was unable to help her friends. She was under attack by Baga, who was under the Raich's spell. Wicket's first attempt at capping the Raich was unsuccessful, as the Ewoks had forgotten to put the sparkle seeds on the cap. His second attempt was successful, and their crisis ended as the Raich was finally transformed back into a tree. Baga was freed from the Raich's spell and returned to normal. Kneesaa was grateful to Wicket.

While on their way to the Shadow Night Festival with Kneesaa, Wicket attempted to recount the story to Chief Chirpa, but Kneesaa instead dragged him back to the village's party.

The totem pole

While the Ewoks were juicing the annual dangleberry fruit, Wicket decided that the task was beneath a young warrior like himself. A nearby traveler, known as the Totem Master, overheard Wicket's complaints and approached the Ewoks. The Totem Master requested something to drink, and the Princess offered him some dangleberry juice. Following this, he persuaded Wicket to accept a totem pole, claiming that all great warriors possessed them. Kneesaa cautioned Wicket that they should not accept gifts from unknown creatures. But Wicket accepted the totem pole. After the traveler departed, Wicket carried the totem pole back to the village by himself. That night, while the Ewoks slept, the traveler went to the village and used his magic ring on the totem pole to bring the totem creatures to life; once free, the creatures robbed the village and gave their loot to their "Totem Master." When Teebo witnessed this, he attempted to warn Chief Chirpa, but the Totem Master stopped him and used his magic ring to control Teebo's mind and make him one of his slaves. Wicket briefly awoke during the night and saw some of these events, but he dismissed them as a dream and went back to sleep.

Kneesaa and Wicket disguising themselves as totems

The next morning, when the tribe realized they had been robbed and Malani reported that her brother Teebo was missing, Wicket realized that what he had seen the previous night was not a dream. He, Kneesaa, and Latara set out to find Teebo and their belongings. Once they caught up with the Totem Master, Latara confronted him; however, when he used his magic ring to turn her into a totem slave, Wicket and Kneesaa followed him to his next destination: the Strutter village. While the Totem Master's wagon was in motion, Kneesaa used her lasso to board the vehicle, and then helped Wicket join her. The couple disguised themselves as totems, on the top of the pole, and remained undetected by the Totem Master. That night, Kneesaa and Wicket attempted to stop the Totem Master, but they instead found themselves fleeing from him and were soon captured by the enslaved Latara and Teebo. As the Totem Master attempted to use his ring to cast his spell on Wicket, he grabbed a Strutter mirror and reflected the energy beam back on himself, thereby placing him under his own spell; once the master's ring was destroyed, his slaves were freed of their curse. The following day, the four young Ewoks returned to the village with all of the tribe's stolen possessions.

The lost temple

Kneesaa reads the map's warning.

When Wicket discovered a map to a lost temple brimming with precious jewels in Logray's hut, intending to give one to his mother on her birthday, Kneesaa read some advice from the skirting-board. But nobody listened to the Princess, and the four friends (Wicket, Kneesaa, Teebo, and Latara) set off for the temple. Once they entered, Latara triggered a booby trap that sent them all down a long, perilous slide—directly into the treasure room. Wicket selected a jewel he thought his mother would appreciate, Latara chose another jewel, and the Ewoks were then chased out of the temple by a purpa, a large Endorian reptile.

Later, during Shodu's birthday party, Latara's jewel hatched—as the jewels were actually purpa eggs. Kneesaa then took Wicket dancing and informed him about the egg. Wicket had to tell his mother about the jewel, but before he could, mother and son were captured by Duloks who sought to steal the jewel for their queen, Urgah. Later, Wicket convinced Shodu to give the jewel to Urgah, and the two defeated the Duloks and returned home.

Battle of Thorn Forest

Kneesaa throwing Wicket's Belt of Honor against the Stranger

During the Battle of Thorn Forest, Kneesaa performed the two final actions that determined the Ewoks' victory over the Wizards of the Night Spirit. While Wicket was pinning the Stranger to the ground, the Princess used her grappling hook to spin the Sunstar and reverse the ritual that was drawing the Wizards onto the forest moon. Finally, when the Stranger attempted to carry Wicket out of Endor with him, Kneesaa threw Wicket's lost Belt of Honor around the Stranger's outstretched hands. The strong leather belt quickly bound the Stranger's hands, and he released Wicket from his grasp. The Stranger and the other Wizards of the Night Spirit were banished once more, and Kneesaa saved Wicket's life (although Wicket's belt suffered the same fate as the wizards).

Fear about Wicket's possible death

Seeking another trophy for his Belt of Honor, Wicket ventured alone to obtain a hanadak tooth for his belt. Some hours later, his three friends Kneesaa, Teebo, and Latara began searching for the young Ewok warrior apprentice. Latara was afraid of the hanadaks and wished to return home, but the Princess compelled Latara to continue the search to make amends for Latara's injuries. The Ewoks only encountered a group of Kagles, who told them about the battle between Wicket and a hanadak on a river. Kneesaa refused to believe the worst and instructed her two friends to cross the river with her on a raft.

Kneesaa and Teebo discover evidence which leads them to believe that Wicket had died.

Along the riverbank, Kneesaa discovered Wicket's broken slingshot. Believing the broken weapon to be proof of Wicket's death, Kneesaa became despondent, and Teebo and Latara wept, embracing each other. Kneesaa took the slingshot, intending to inform all the villagers that Wicket had died fighting.

But, to their delight, Wicket reappeared, recounting his battle with the hanadak and expressing his excitement to share the news with Chief Chirpa.

The sleeping spell

Kneesaa being healed by Logray

Kneesaa, Wicket, and Latara were with Teebo one day as he practiced the magic Logray had been teaching him. The three Ewoks were unimpressed with the tricks and with Teebo's execution of them. When Teebo was approached by Zarrak, a dark Ewok wizard who was once Logray's apprentice, Wicket and Latara had to carry Kneesaa back to the Bright Tree Village, for she had been put under a sleeping spell by Zarrak before she revealed Zarrak's past to them. After a brief cart accident, Kneesaa was healed at Logray's hut, and the shaman told Wicket and Latara of Zarrak's past and what danger Teebo was in. Some years before, Zarrak had been Logray's apprentice, but became impatient and tried to steal the powerful Sunstar, and was banished by the village's chief. Then Logray, Wicket, and the girls set out to save Teebo.

When they arrived at Zarrak's mountain, the former apprentice was trying to drop Teebo into the "realm of spirits" from which "only the greatest wizards" had ever returned. While Logray (with Wicket's little help) and Zarrak battled it out, Kneesaa and Latara rescued Teebo, using Kneesaa's grappling hook. When the girls ran to help Logray and Wicket, Zarrak used his jewel to summon rocky hands from the ground to trap the four Ewoks. For saving his friends, Teebo used his magic to distract Zarrak and lead him into the abyss, making him drop the jewel, thereby freeing Kneesaa and the others.

Poor traders

Kneesaa and her three close friends went to Mooth's Trading Hut, to trade some things with him. Upon arrival they learned that Mooth had come down with a cold and that business was slow. In the shop, Wicket spotted a pair of eodon tusks which he thought would look great hanging over his hammock, but each of his friends wanted the tusks for his or her self. Kneesaa was interested to give her father the tusks, for wearing with his helmet. So Mooth proposed that whoever could trade the most goods for him would receive the tusks.

As the foursome set out for the river, a fierce rivalry brewed among them, and they chose to split up by gender, with each pair taking one side of the river. Sometime later, Latara spied on the boys, seeing their trade's failing and believing she and Kneesaa could be better than them. Latara went back to her side of the river, gaining Kneesaa's reprobation about the spying; even so, the Princess asked for Latara's news, and the two started their journey.

Kneesaa and Latara trading a cloak with the "Darling"

First, the Ewok girls tried to trade a cloak with a rodent (Latara called her "Darling") who used her teeth to create sculptures from wood. But Latara ruined the cloak while she was showing it, ruining the trade, too. Later, Kneesaa and Latara tried to trade other things with some forest creatures. One of them arrested Latara, but Kneesaa used her grappling hook to save her friend.

As a last and desperate action, Latara tried to trade a bottle of shampoo with the dangerous Bobog. The Ewok used some of the liquid to wash Bobog's hair, but failed when she accidentally mixed the shampoo with tree sap from another bottle, gumming the hair. The Bobog ran behind the girls, who took refuge on a tree. Then, Teebo and Wicket heard the girls' cries, and ran to save them.

Then they all mournfully returned to Mooth's, only to find that the Kagles had come in and traded a family cold cure and that the Bobog had traded some jewels for more fludge. So, when Mooth offered the eodon tusks, Wicket claimed them first since he was the one to give the fludge to the Bobog. However, Kneesaa claimed the tusks for herself because she carried a bag with the Mooth's things, and the two others each thought they were entitled to the tusks. Their quibbles were all for naught, though, when the tuskless eodon showed up at Mooth's, and Wicket graciously handed him the tusks.

The blog attack

Kneesaa was very proud of her father, while seeing him teaching a lesson for some young Ewok warriors. Inspired on Chirpa, the warrior apprentice Wicket wished to train another Ewok to become a warrior. Latara made a bet about it with Wicket, and informed him of her pupil of choice: Teebo, the wizard's apprentice.

Some hours later, Kneesaa, Wicket and Latara learned that the Tambles had recruited the "brave warrior" Teebo to deal with their troublesome neighbor, a blog. Wicket knew this meant trouble, so the trio ran off to save their friend.

Kneesaa trying to save Wicket from the blog

When the trio arrived, Wicket tried to save Teebo. But Wicket fell into the waters, trapped by the blog's tail. Kneesaa tried to rescue him with her grappling hook, but it was Teebo's use of magic to destroy the dam that saved both Wicket and the Tambles. As the river drained, Wicket climbed to safety and congratulated Teebo on his magic. But since magic had saved the day and not warrior skill, Wicket lost his bet with Latara and so was forced to mind the young Latara's brother and sister for twenty days. This outcome was funny to Kneesaa and Teebo.

Odra's summer freeze

Kneesaa and her four close friends was enjoying a nice summer day. But when Teebo's attempt to summon a cool breeze went horribly wrong, Wicket led the way back to the village to see Logray. Unable to find the shaman, the troupe headed for the observatory and there intercepted a message for Logray from the Leaf Queen via the Sunstar. When a flying leaf showed up outside for ferry to the Sun King's palace, Wicket convinced Kneesaa and the others to go in Logray's stead, given the direness of the situation. When the leaf taxi neared the Sun Palace, the group was attacked by a pair of Ice Head commandos. Kneesaa was knocked from the leaf and captured by the Ice Heads; Wicket then made saving her their top priority. The group made their way into the Sun Palace, where Wicket negotiated with the Leaf Queen and her siblings. Her majesty informed them that the sudden winter was not the fault of Teebo—it was, in reality, the result of an elaborate scheme by Odra, the Duchess of Sleet, who had frozen the heart of the Snow King to gain possession of the winter-controlling season scepter.

In the throne room of Snow Palace, the Snow King was asking Odra what he could do with Kneesaa, since she didn't possess the Sunstar. Knowing the villain's plan, Kneesaa said to the Snow King that he would never get the Sunstar, "not even by freezing all of Endor." The King responded by freezing Kneesaa in a block of ice and stuck upon an ice pick. Satisfied, Odra said that she and the King could trade Kneesaa for the Sunstar. Shortly after, during the Skirmish at the Snow Palace, Wicket and Teebo took the Season Scepter and used the device to melt the Snow King's heart and eliminate Odra's threat.

Kneesaa in the throne room of Snow Palace

With the King once again in good spirits, Wicket made a request for Kneesaa's freedom. The Snow King offered an apology and proceeded to release Kneesaa from her frozen state, leading to a heartfelt hug between her and Wicket. The King then restored Endor's climate to that of the Sun King, after which the King's family, along with Logray and Chief Chirpa, arrived at the palace. Chirpa praised Wicket and his companions for their achievements, and the Snow King presented Wicket with a unique award for his belt of honor: an Ice Head's club. The gift's unusual nature and considerable size took Wicket by surprise, but he accepted it with grace.

Duloks and the prow

Kneesaa and Latara came across Wicket and Teebo by a river, where they were cleaning Chief Chirpa's canoe and preparing to launch it. Latara requested a canoe ride, despite Kneesaa's warning about the upcoming Fishing Festival, a significant event for Bright Tree Village where the canoe was essential. The boys agreed to Latara's request, and the four set off. However, their ride was cut short when the canoe struck a rock, throwing all four into the water. After pulling the boat to shore, they discovered that Chirpa's special prow carving was missing from the canoe's front. Fearing Chirpa's reaction, the four dove back into the river to search for the missing carving.

The Ewoks eventually located the prow carving downstream, but it was in the possession of the Duloks. When the four attempted to retrieve it, they were captured and taken aboard the Duloks' warship. They were then forced to assist the Duloks in rowing towards Bright Tree Village. However, Wicket sought the aid of the Skibs to rebel against the Duloks. Wicket then took control of the warship and utilized its own catapult to cause the ship's destruction. After abandoning the vessel, the young Ewoks watched in dismay as the Ewok prow carving sank into the depths along with the ship.

Kneesaa thinking herself being outcast from home

That evening, Wicket recounted the entire incident to Chirpa. The four grew anxious about the potential punishment from Chirpa. The innocent Princess even considered the possibility of being banished from home. However, their fears proved unfounded; Chirpa commended the young ones and simply requested that they create a new prow carving for the canoe. The young Ewoks were so astonished by Chirpa's response that they all fainted on the spot.

Jadru's maze

One day, while Kneesaa and her three closest friends were attempting to bathe Baga, they were surprised by the arrival of a "beautiful" equine creature, which they named Silky. The Ewoks were all charmed by Silky, to the point where Baga began to feel envious. Silky quickly gained Kneesaa's trust, even earning the privilege of sleeping on Kneesaa's bed, a feat that Kneesaa's pet Bordok, Baga, had never achieved. The Ewoks were amazed when they discovered that Silky could fly. However, when the mystical creature took Kneesaa for a flight, it suddenly transformed into its true form—a quarf—and began to carry Kneesaa away to the lair of Jadru, its master. The sorceress Jadru, like many before her, sought to possess the Ewoks' Sunstar, and she was willing to hold Kneesaa hostage to obtain it. As Latara had taught, the Princess's responsibilities were becoming increasingly perilous. Many villains on Endor desired to capture the Princess of Bright Tree Village and exchange her for the Sunstar. Despite this, Kneesaa never displayed any fear and continued to face her challenges head-on.

Kneesaa grabs a control lever for Jadru's maze.

Wicket instructed Teebo and Latara to inform Chirpa of the situation, while he and Baga pursued the quarf. After scaling a steep cliff, Wicket and his mount entered Jadru's fortress, only to discover from her floating crystal ball that they were trapped in a customizable maze controlled by Jadru. Nevertheless, with Baga following Kneesaa's scent, they managed to find their way to the throne room. Then, with Kneesaa now with them, the trio led Jadru and her quarf astray and returned to the throne where the maze controls were located, in order to trap the enchantress in her own maze. Just as Wicket and Kneesaa were trying to determine how they would escape, Chirpa and the warriors stormed into the building. Wicket and Chirpa destroyed Jadru's control levers, ensuring that she would never find a way out. As they were leaving Jadru's building, Baga accepted Kneesaa's apologies and became her loyal pet Bordok once again.

The Hut of Horrors and The Tumble Bunny Show

After Kneesaa and Wicket collected sunberries for Shodu Warrick during a carnival, Shodu requested that her son take his sister Winda to the Tumble Bunny show. She even offered him a reward: if he did so, Shodu might allow him to participate in the overnight trip with the warriors. Reluctantly, Wicket took Winda to the show, where they encountered Teebo and Latara, who were also forced to bring their younger siblings. However, Wicket distanced himself from the woklings' show and became interested in another attraction: Horville's Hut of Horrors.

Intrigued by Horville's eerie presentation, Wicket was eager to experience the horrors. However, Kneesaa reminded him of his mother's agreement. Wicket then held a quick vote to decide which show the Ewoks would attend, but despite the minority favoring Horville's Hut, Wicket declared the vote a landslide in their favor. Assuring Kneesaa that the woklings would enjoy themselves, Wicket and the group of seven Ewoks entered the hut. But they did not leave the same.

The Hut of Horrors left the older children disturbed and the woklings traumatized to the point of tears. That night, the four teenagers and the children went to Wicket's home to sleep. Wicket was concerned that the woklings would have nightmares, so Teebo obtained a Logray's dream eater magic machine that was supposed to extract bad dreams from the woklings and store them within itself, but a faulty leg on the device's tripod gave way, causing the machine to collapse and fall near Wicket's bed, "releasing" the bad dreams into his own mind. Wicket experienced a very strange nightmare. Eventually, Shodu woke Wicket from his nightmare. Realizing his deception was exposed, Wicket confessed his disobedience to his mother.

The Tumble Bunnies' Ewok audience

The following day, a group of Ewok teenagers and children (including Kneesaa, Teebo, Latara, Malani, Nippet, Wiley, and Winda) enjoyed the Tumble Bunnies' show. As punishment for his disobedience, Wicket was forced by his mother to take over the Tumble Bunny trainer's role during ten performances.

Elbo, the anklet and the flute

One day while fishing, Kneesaa dipped her feet in the water and accidentally dropped her wooden anklet into the Endor Sea. This incident summoned King Elbo, a powerful ruler of an unknown crab species, who offered to help her. He presented her with two golden anklets adorned with jewels, but Kneesaa declined, stating that they were not her anklets. When Elbo retrieved her original anklet, she accepted it without inquiring about the other two, which impressed Elbo. He gave her all three anklets in recognition of her honesty.

Upon hearing Kneesaa's story, Latara's eyes lit up at the thought of a golden flute encrusted with jewels to replace the wooden one that Teebo and Wicket had made for her. However, her demands and desires shocked Kneesaa and Wicket and deeply offended Teebo. Aware of their friend's materialistic tendencies, Kneesaa, Wicket, and Teebo followed Latara. However, they arrived at the lake too late and witnessed Latara being taken by Elbo into his underwater coral castle. Determined to rescue Latara, Teebo summoned a helpful fish that created a sea bubble—a robust membrane large enough to hold the three Ewoks and transport them to the underwater lair.

After a turbulent bubble ride to the bottom, the trio entered the air-filled castle and discovered their friend being held captive by a squid-like creature. Wicket created a distraction, allowing Latara to escape with Kneesaa and Teebo. The four then fled through the castle, attempting to find an exit. They ended up in a wooden crate suspended above a dangerous sea creature. When King Elbo approached, Wicket attempted to reason with him. Kneesaa once again touched Elbo's heart, offering to trade her three anklets to rescue Latara. Eventually, the four reached an agreement: the king would administer a test to Latara. If she succeeded, they would be freed, but if she failed, all four would become Elbo's slaves. As the crate descended lower and lower, Wicket bluntly told Teebo that he had no faith in Latara. However, she proved him wrong, passing Elbo's test by identifying the most valuable item among his treasures: her old flute that Wicket and Teebo had given her. The foursome then bid Elbo farewell and returned to the surface, once again via bubble transport.

Norky and the Vacant Valley

Kneesaa was tending to her pet bordok, Baga, outside her home when Wicket asked to borrow acorn paste from Kneesaa so that he and his mother could bake more cookies. Wicket was accompanied by Norky, a boy from an unidentified Endorian species who was staying with the Warrick family and frequently led Wicket into trouble. Norky had caused trouble for Wicket and Teebo just moments before. At the Royal Hut, Wicket entered with Kneesaa, leaving Norky outside to avoid disrupting the ongoing council meeting, but Norky once again caused chaos, disrupting the meeting, blaming Kneesaa, and even attempting to harm Wicket as he left. After Latara shared a similar mishap, the four young Ewoks decided to take action against Norky.

Inside Logray's hut, the foursome consulted the shaman's globe and decided to send Norky to the Vacant Valley, even though Wicket, Teebo, and Latara initially considered sending him to a more hazardous location. The quartet tricked Norky into following a "treasure" map to the valley using Latara's hang-glider. As time passed, Wicket assured Kneesaa that Norky would not be in any real danger; however, they soon learned from master Logray that it was the centurial time of the natural sucking phenomenon in the Vacant Valley.

Kneesaa and Latara arriving to save the boys

The four Ewoks traveled to the valley, Kneesaa and Latara setting off on separate hang-gliders, and Wicket and Teebo setting off on foot—or rather, using magically spring-loaded vines to help them avoid being sucked underground. When they located Norky, Wicket had to convince the boy that there was no treasure and that the entire situation was a setup, but that they never intended for any harm to befall him. The three boys nearly perished there when they began to be sucked into a large hole, but the girls arrived with their hang-gliders, and with Norky's assistance, ensured that everyone escaped safely. Later, the five young Endorians returned to Bright Tree Village.

A diplomatic job

A party that Kneesaa was hosting at her home was not progressing well. All the children and young Ewoks she had invited were tired and asleep. Kneesaa wanted to present her acorns collection, but no one was interested. Chief Chirpa arrived and assigned her a special task: to organize a party in honor of Prince Delby, who would be arriving for an official visit. The Princess was apprehensive, but Latara overheard the conversation (becoming very interested in Delby's arrival) and took on the mission, along with a hesitant Kneesaa.

Kneesaa wearing her new dress, and Latara

Latara commissioned Wicket to distribute the party's posters and Teebo to lead the musicians (Teebo chose Malani, Nippet, Wiley, and Winda for the role). Latara gave Kneesaa a beautiful blue dress and a pair of sandals. The party proceeded as Latara and Kneesaa had planned, until Pugs's arrival. Kneesaa mistook the Pugs's leader for Prince Delby, addressing him as "Your Highness." The Pugs had seen Wicket's posters and exhibited rude behavior during the party. Kneesaa became suspicious of the Pugs. She went home to discuss the Pugs' leader with Chirpa and caught the Pugs burglarizing her home. Immediately, the Pugs kidnapped the Princess. Wicket, Teebo, and Latara discovered what had happened to Kneesaa, and the three set off to rescue her, on board Baga's cart.

After escaping from the Pug's leader and reuniting with her friends, Kneesaa used her grappling hook to retrieve the bag containing her household items. The four Ewoks fled from the Pugs and returned home. At the village, all the Ewoks were asleep, just like the young ones at the beginning of the story, and Kneesaa worried about disappointing Chirpa. Chief Chirpa arrived with the real Prince Delby. After receiving Kneesaa's greetings, Delby apologized for missing the party and invited Kneesaa to see his acorn collection. Delighted, Kneesaa invited him to see her own collection as well. Kneesaa's diplomatic mission was a success, and her three close friends did not understand Kneesaa and Delby's fascination with acorns.

Imperial-Ewok War

Battle for the Sunstar

Utilizing her authority, Kneesaa tasked Wicket, Latara, and Teebo with accompanying her on an expedition to feed a nest of baby gubas. Wicket was reluctant to help, claiming that his time would be better spent earning another trophy for his Belt of Honor. His beloved Kneesaa immediately responded with her moral lesson about helping others. The foursome climbed a towering tree to reach the gubas, but the chicks were not as receptive as the Princess had hoped. The gubas knocked the group out of the tree, sending them plummeting to the ground. Although none of them were injured, the Princess remained determined to help the gubas in the future. Latara began to question Kneesaa's teachings about helping others.

Kneesaa afraid with the Ewoks' spears

Shortly after that, the young Ewoks heard the cry of a perkle. The four discovered the creature trapped in a strange device. While Teebo was stretching to prepare for an attempt at lifting the device, he accidentally pushed Latara into the path of the trap's opening. The foreign device activated, sucking the unfortunate child into the impervious bubble, trapping her with the perkle. Then, Teebo prepared a magic spell using dust. Unfortunately, the dust blew into the trap, but it was able to destroy it from the inside, freeing Latara and the perkle. While the Ewoks were discussing the strange trap, Teebo was captured by a droid under the command of Doctor Raygar. The Imperial scientist, flying his personal repulsorcraft, then aimed an energy beam at Kneesaa. Wicket tried to save her and attack Raygar's droids, but he was no match for the advanced Imperial weaponry. Raygar then spoke with Wicket personally and demanded that he reveal the location of their village if he wanted to save his friends. Reluctantly, and seeing his friends Kneesaa and Teebo in pain, Wicket complied, but he and Latara were nonetheless captured and placed in a holding cell with their friends aboard Raygar's ship. Although Wicket tried to lead an escape, the Ewoks were no match for the force field sealing the door. Learning Raygar's plans to seek the Sunstar, Wicket knew they had to escape to warn the tribe. Latara questioned Kneesaa's teachings again, stating that no guba was helping them.

Shortly after it, Wicket convinced Raygar's droid PD-28 ("Peedee") to release them, but their search for an exit led them to an escape pod. Latara inadvertently launched the pod with her buttocks, and while the ride started off bumpy, Wicket took control and quickly learned how to pilot the craft. But by the time they arrived at Bright Tree Village, it was too late; Raygar had already taken the Sunstar and fled. When the escape pod landed on the village, the Ewok warriors under Chief Chirpa's orders were prepared to attack the enemies they were expecting from the pod. They obviously surrendered when they saw their Princess emerge from the pod's door. She exited the vehicle, and as she was telling her father about Raygar's plans, all the Ewoks saw the doctor's ship leaving Endor.

Fighting on board an Imperial Destroyer

Kneesaa and Wicket in Raygar's lab

While Wicket attempted to convince Chirpa to use the "flying canoe" to transport some warriors back to the Sunstar, the overeager Latara initiated the ship's launch sequence, and only the four young Ewoks and Peedee made it onto the ship before takeoff. Since Raygar's ship was rapidly heading towards space, Wicket chose to stay on course rather than return to pick up the warriors. The Ewoks were unprepared for the weightlessness they experienced when they exited Endor's atmosphere, although Peedee then activated the gravity stabilizers, nor had the Ewoks ever seen anything quite like the Imperial Star Destroyer they approached for landing. Upon arrival, Peedee was ordered to be recycled by Admiral Kazz, so Wicket and Kneesaa decided to rescue the droid while the other two Ewoks searched for Raygar.

After defeating an Imperial Reconnaissance Droid and retrieving Peedee from the recycling center, Wicket and Kneesaa proceeded to Raygar's lab, where the scientist had used the Sunstar to create a weapon to kill Emperor Palpatine, a weapon he intended to test on Latara and Teebo first. When Raygar incapacitated Peedee, Wicket sought to avenge his new friend and attacked Raygar. He leapt for the man, dodging his blaster bolt, and attacked fiercely. In the scuffle, he inadvertently caused Raygar to fire his new weapon into space as Palpatine's shuttle approached; while the blast—which destroyed one of the Lambda-class shuttle's wings—could have possibly killed the Emperor if fired at a slightly different angle or moment, it also may have saved the man's life by preventing Raygar from firing when he intended. Realizing his predicament, Raygar decided to kill Wicket, but Kneesaa retrieved the Sunstar and struck Raygar, freeing Wicket from his grasp. Wicket then used the Sunstar to destroy Raygar's blaster. Wicket, Kneesaa, and Peedee again boarded their capsule, picked up Teebo and Latara, and headed back to Endor. Kneesaa and Latara said good-bye to Peedee and gratefully kissed the droid. After Peedee left Endor, Latara showed she learned about Kneesaa's teachings, to the delight of the Princess.

Prelude to Endor

Ultimately, their encounter with Raygar would not be the last time they would encounter the Empire. Some time after forming the Sunstar-Shadowstone, Gorneesh's tribe of Duloks had been enslaved by the Galactic Empire for preparations of creating the Endor shield generator bunker. One Dulok, Agluk, escaped Imperial custody at the cost of his right arm and later was captured by a group of Ewok scouts. Chirpa and Logray interrogated Agluk. The Chief did not believe the Dulok's story and ordered his imprisonment. Kneesaa, who accompanied her father, became curious. She went out and secretly conducted another interview to cross-reference that of her father. Alongside Paploo and Wicket, she interrogated Agluk about his presence. Upon learning from him about the unleashing of the ancient monster Griagh as well as the Imperial presence on the planet, Kneesaa offered to free him in exchange for his guiding them to his village to prove his claims. After freeing him, they walked him on a leash, in case he tried to escape. However, they had to flee when Logray spotted them, resulting in Paploo staying behind due to being caught in the shaman's magic. Afterwards, Kneesaa, Wicket, and Agluk ended up encountering Teebo and Latara, the former also being shocked that they were interacting with Agluk despite their rivalries, even if he was a prisoner. However, Kneesaa explained Agluk's story and their need to verify his account; reminded Teebo that she was his princess, meaning her decision was final and that he was coming whether he liked it or not; and allowed Latara to tag along as well. Upon reaching the tree and climbing up, they discovered the construction of a massive complex: the building of Death Star II's shield generator bunker. Several Duloks were taken as slaves to work in the complex. Kneesaa proposed to do something about it, and she and the other Ewoks accepted Agluk's request to follow him in an alleged secret shortcut for the Imperial bunker.

Kneesaa tells her friends her chat with Zrani.

Kneesaa and company followed Agluk as he led them into a deep cave. To illuminate the cave, Agluk created a torch, trapping inside it a female Wistie called Zrani. The Dulok asked Kneesaa to carry the lantern. The princess was immediately conflicted upon seeing the imprisoned Wistie and expressed to the other Ewoks her disapproval of Agluk's actions, while the Dulok walked ahead. As everyone walked further into the cave, Kneesaa asked Agluk to release Zrani, and Wicket warned Kneesaa about the sounds of carnivorous creatures that might inhabit the cave. As Agluk began calling the Ewoks, brandishing an Imperial blaster rifle, Wicket decided that they had to flee while Dulok was sleeping. Kneesaa used her linguistic skills to communicate with Zrani, who told the princess that she would die if she remained in the lantern for much longer, but the key to open the lantern hung around Agluk's neck. So Wicket tried to take the key, but he accidentally woke Agluk, who began to pursue and shoot at Wicket. Kneesaa collected the key lying on the ground and freed Zrani. As the Wistie was very weak, Kneesaa ordered everyone to leave immediately. The Griagh finally arrived, devouring Agluk. While Teebo and Wicket fought bravely against Griagh, respectively using his ax and his spear, Zrani pointed Kneesaa to an exit of the cave, and the princess called the other Ewoks to follow her.

Safe outside the cave, the Ewok group decided to follow Wicket's suggestion to return to Bright Tree Village and warn everyone about Griagh, before the entire village suffered Agluk's fate. On the way back, they saw Logray and Paploo being discovered by stormtroopers, who were planning to imprison both of them along with a group of Duloks. Immediately, Kneesaa and her friends ambushed the armored soldiers, attacking and killing them one by one. Kneesaa attacked some stormtroopers, leaning on them and striking them with her knife, until Kneesaa looked terrified at Griagh, which emerged from underground and killed several Duloks and stormtroopers.

Kneesaa joining Logray's ritual

While the battle raged, with stormtroopers and stray Duloks struggling against Griagh, and Ewoks caught between fighting stormtroopers, rescuing Duloks, and defending themselves from the Griagh, Logray requested Kneesaa to accompany him to a ridge's summit. They, along with Zrani, managed to reach the location despite the stormtroopers' gunfire. Noticing the Sunstar's diminished power (the Sunstar was carried by Logray), Logray implored Kneesaa to participate in a ritual where they would both amplify the Sunstar's energy, hoping to obliterate the Griagh. However, Zrani, in a selfless act, seized the Sunstar and soared into the Griagh. The resulting explosion consumed both Zrani and the Griagh. Chief Chirpa, arriving with Ewok warriors, witnessed the remaining stormtroopers and Duloks scattering into the forest, and ensured Kneesaa and her companions' safety. Later, during a celebratory event, Chirpa commended the young warriors but cautioned that the Imperial threat remained.

After the Battle of Endor

Following the conflict at Endor and the destruction of the second Death Star, Kneesaa eventually married Wicket, her childhood sweetheart, and together they ruled Bright Tree Village after Chirpa's passing.

Personality and traits

Kneesaa and Wicket during a celebration in Bright Tree Village

From a young age, Kneesaa exhibited a gentle and compassionate nature towards all those around her. Furthermore, the young princess consistently demonstrated impeccable manners towards her companions.

When Chirpa became a widower and presumed his elder daughter lost, he designated Kneesaa, his only remaining child (until Asha's return), as his successor, imparting all his knowledge and duties to her. This close relationship, both familial and professional, fostered a deep bond between Kneesaa and her father. Consequently, she evolved into a responsible and formidable leader, possessing a strong sense of fairness.

Kneesaa gained knowledge of her tribe's customs, values, and occupations, yet she initiated changes to certain traditions, beginning with her appointment as the first female Heiress of Chieftain in her tribe's history. Despite this designation, Kneesaa did not become as accomplished a warrior as her father. Kneesaa transformed into a courageous Ewok as she embarked on adventures with her friend Wicket, a skilled scout and warrior-in-training.

Princess Kneesaa

Kneesaa frequently worried about Wicket's success in his trials. Once, when Wicket ventured into the Black Cavern to challenge the Dulok prince Boogutt for a sun crystal, aiming to acquire another trophy for his Belt of Honor, Kneesaa pleaded with her tribe for assistance in rescuing him. On another occasion, after Wicket failed his skills test, Kneesaa attempted to persuade him to abandon the Cavern of Broken Dreams and retake the test, succeeding only after attracting the attention of a deadly giant spider-like creature and being rescued by Wicket.

Kneesaa consistently displayed respect for all Ewok Elders, even when they had not yet fully accepted her as the future Chief.

Apparently, until her marriage to Wicket, Kneesaa never displayed any jealousy regarding Malani's affection for Wicket, or his brief interest in Chirita. Kneesaa consistently expressed her affection for Wicket through hugs and kisses, which Wicket reciprocated with equal tenderness.

Ever since her Festival of Hoods, she adorned herself with a pink hood featuring a blue gem gifted by Asha. Some time after becoming a courageous Heir of Chieftain, Kneesaa excelled at using a grappling hook, which became her primary weapon. In later years, despite still being young, Kneesaa transitioned to using a knife as her main weapon.

Powers and abilities

Kneesaa attacking Dr. Raygar with the Sunstar

On occasion, Kneesaa showed curiosity regarding Logray's potion recipes. Shortly thereafter, she concocted the shrinkroot potion employed to defeat the kradak that was menacing the trees of Bright Tree Village. This suggested that Kneesaa possessed some magical aptitude, similar to her father's talent with prism pebbles, and could have become a skilled wizard apprentice had she not been the Heir of Chieftain. However, according to Logray, becoming a proficient wizard required years of complete dedication. Following the kradak incident, Kneesaa's responsibilities as Heir of Chieftain consumed all her time.

Kneesaa demonstrated a degree of potential Force-sensitivity through her ability to wield the Sunstar during the battle against Dr. Raygar aboard an Imperial Destroyer. Nevertheless, her Force-sensitivity was likely less pronounced than Wicket's, but Logray recalled Kneesaa's gifts, to request her help to manage the weakened Sunstar during combat against Griagh, before the mystical artifact was destroyed along with the creature.

Behind the scenes

Kneesaa's action figure in Hasbro's Ewok Pack 2012

Although Wicket was the central figure in the animated television series and most of the printed materials, Kneesaa took the lead in several stories: Three Cheers for Kneesaa!, The Ice Princess!, Rites of Power, The Incredible Shrinking Princess, The Three Lessons, The Wish Plant, and Party Ewok.

In Ewoks, Kneesaa's voice was provided by Cree Summer during the first season and Jeanne Reynolds in the second.

An action figure of Princess Kneesaa was developed in 2010 as part of Hasbro's Star Wars: The Vintage Collection, but its release was cancelled prior to issue alongside a new Wicket action figure. This figure was ultimately released in 2012 as part of an Ewok gift set.
