A Twi'lek female named Kelyan operated as a bounty hunter, collaborating with Clargod, Dee'Hars, and Kiimo as a team. In the year 21 BBY, the group accepted multiple contracts from Riboga the Hutt, who aimed to regain his criminal control over the Cularin system. These assignments led them to cross paths with a group known as the Heroes of Cularin, who undertook various missions for Senator Wren. Their initial meeting was amicable, but as Riboga faced repeated setbacks due to the outsiders' actions, he eventually tasked the bounty hunters with eliminating the "Heroes"—and inflicting suffering upon them.
Kelyan and her team devised an intricate strategy. Their initial move was to engineer a crash landing for their targets on Holador, a secluded planet with minimal civilization. Once there, Kelyan cultivated a friendship with a local Squib tribe, striving to convince them that the Cularin "Heroes" were perilous adversaries. However, upon the targets' arrival at the village, they succeeded in proving their innocence. This was just one of many setbacks during the mission, which ultimately ended in complete failure.
Kelyan possessed both beauty and persuasive charm. In contrast to her teammates, she only resorted to using a blaster as a last option. Her strengths lay in her subtle tactics: quick thinking and sharp verbal skills.
At some point in time, Kelyan joined forces with bounty hunters Clargod, Dee'Hars, and Kiimo. The Twi'lek's allure and cunning proved to be a valuable addition to a team that primarily relied on combat. In 21 BBY, the Office of Peace and Security (OPS) hired the team to apprehend two associates of Nirama, a crime lord who had been deposed. These targets, known as Kerum and Mattenic, also had a bounty placed on them by Riboga the Hutt. Riboga was a criminal figure who was attempting to take over Nirama's former territory, the Cularin system. The targets were believed to be hiding within Gadrin's industrial sector on the planet Cularin. The team strategically positioned themselves, with Clargod stationed outside and the others positioned in a building opposite the targets' hideout, awaiting the opportune moment to spring their trap.
Kerum and Mettenic eventually emerged and attempted to escape on their speeder bikes. Clargod intercepted them, while Kelyan, along with Dee'Hars and Kiimo, fired above their heads to keep them on course. The plan was disrupted by the unexpected arrival of a group of strangers who seemed determined to intervene. Kelyan stepped forward to address them, recognizing them as the "Heroes of Cularin," who had gained recognition for their work for Senator Wren. The Twi'lek cautioned the strangers to exercise caution and refrain from interfering, emphasizing that this was a legal apprehension on behalf of the OPS. She also pointed out that she and her team were simply following the heroes' example of protecting the Cularin system. As the targets reached their speeder bikes, Kiimo's booby-trapped stun grenades detonated, incapacitating them.
The interlopers presented a challenge, as they insisted on speaking with Kerum and Mettenic regarding Riboga the Hutt's criminal organization. Kelyan needed to get rid of them. She proposed an exchange: the "Heroes" could instead speak with her teammate, Dee'Hars, who possessed just as much knowledge about Riboga as the unconscious prisoners. In return, the interlopers would allow the bounty hunters to hand over their captives to the OPS, as required by law. The heroes agreed. Kelyan and her team profited handsomely, receiving double payment for the capture.
Using the information provided by Dee'Hars, the Heroes of Cularin initiated a campaign to undermine and humiliate Riboga the Hutt. Kelyan and her associates, who were loosely employed by Riboga as events unfolded, witnessed firsthand the setbacks and thwarting of the Hutt's operations. At one point, the hunters traveled to the Kemix system as part of Riboga's entourage on his flagship, the Rightful Dominion. Here, Kelyan and her companions encountered Wren's operatives once again in the ship's hangar; the ship was falling apart as it entered the atmosphere of Kemix. Kelyan and her associates survived the ship's destruction, as did Riboga. Nevertheless, the loss of the ship was a significant blow to the Hutt.
Riboga, filled with rage, sought vengeance. The Hutt turned to Kelyan and her crew, but this bounty would be different. He did not simply want the "Heroes of Cularin" killed; he wanted them to suffer.
Kelyan and her colleagues investigated their targets, identifying their vulnerabilities. Dee'Hars, the team leader, assigned each hunter a specific task, only informing them of their individual role in the scheme to maintain secrecy and prevent the targets from uncovering the entire plan if someone were captured. Kelyan was tasked with doing what she excelled at: entangling the targets in endless disputes and disagreements.
The bounty hunters located the targets and rigged their ship with explosives. The explosives detonated as planned, forcing the so-called heroes out of hyperspace above a remote, obscure world called Holador; within the planet's gravity well, it plummeted to the surface. In fact, the situation turned out even better than Kelyan and her teammates had anticipated; the targets were rendered unconscious by the crash landing, allowing the bounty hunters to infiltrate their ship, sedate them, and steal their weapons, droids, and essential starship components.
Kelyan then embarked on a mission to win over the inhabitants of Holador. She discovered a tribe of Squibs, descendants of a group that had crash-landed on the planet centuries earlier and had been forced to adopt a primitive lifestyle to survive. Befriending them proved easy, as she was fluent in Squibbian. She fabricated tales about fictitious "Assassin Lords" and their clients, the targets, while exaggerating the "heroic exploits" of herself and her team. Kelyan's skills seemed to be effective for the most part; over the course of her stay in the village, the Squibs grew increasingly agitated. However, their elder, Alexem, appeared less convinced.
The "Heroes of Cularin" arrived in the Squib village a few days after Kelyan's arrival. She mocked them, revealing how she had misrepresented them to ensure a hostile reception. She suggested that the newcomers should plead for their lives and even offered to act as their interpreter.
Much to her dismay, Alexem revealed his proficiency in Basic, diminishing her linguistic advantage to some extent. Nevertheless, a tense exchange ensued, with Kelyan reiterating the strangers' malevolent intentions and the newcomers asserting their innocence. The situation turned against the Twi'lek. The targets convinced Alexem of their innocence and her deceit. Alexem declared that, as a guest of the tribe, Kelyan would not be harmed, nor had she violated any tribal laws. However, the strangers were free to leave, and the village would assist them in any way possible. The "Heroes" departed, leaving Kelyan with no recourse but to watch them go.
Ultimately, the job ended poorly. The targets escaped and, in the process, defeated Clargod, Kiimo, and Dee'Hars. At least Kelyan managed to escape unharmed.
Kelyan was a striking Twi'lek woman with a natural talent for diplomacy and persuasive communication. While she carried a blaster pistol, her primary role was as her team's "public relations" specialist. When brute force and weaponry proved ineffective, she relied on her silver tongue and innovative ideas to accomplish her objectives.
Kelyan is a character in the For Every Action trilogy of adventures designed for the Living Force campaign within the Star Wars Roleplaying Game published by Wizards of the Coast. In the initial episode, Preemptive Strike, she participates in an encounter where she and her team obstruct the player characters from obtaining crucial information. This encounter offers multiple possible outcomes, but one is considered the most probable and is therefore regarded as canonical.
The destruction of the Rightful Dominion in Counterstrike is optional. However, because this represents the most favorable scenario for the player characters, its completion is considered canonical. Consequently, Kelyan and her associates encounter the Heroes of Cularin once again.
In the third adventure, Strike III, Kelyan serves as the primary antagonist in an encounter where the player characters are expected to utilize roleplaying and non-combat skills to advance their quest. Rather than engaging in combat, they must contend with Kelyan, who is actively attempting to persuade Alexem and his tribe that the player characters are dangerous and should not be allowed to leave their village alive. The outcome of the encounter hinges on the players' ability to make successful dice rolls and devise strategies to gain favor with Alexem and the Squibs, such as offering technological items, rations, or medical assistance. Failure to do so will result in the Squib warriors attacking under Kelyan's command. Success, on the other hand, leads Alexem and his tribemates to conclude that the outsiders are harmless and befriend them. As the most desirable outcome, this is considered the canonical event.
