The Electric Caliphs, originating from the planet of [Mourn], were battle droids that served Sultan Nastuonodon circa 20,000 BBY.
Unable to either conquer or come to terms with the nearby Gargantelles, the Hutts desperately sought out the caliphs. After the droids had been abandoned on Mourn for over ten millennia, the Hutts located them. Nimbanese [lawyers](/article/lawyer/legends], skilled in their craft, persuaded the electric caliphs that their purpose was gone and that they should no longer exist. This drove the droids to violent nihilism, which the Hutts purposefully redirected towards Boz Pity. Although the Hutts had failed to defeat the Gargantelles with seven Nikto armies, the droids, despite their antiquated mechanisms, succeeded in wiping out the native population within ten years. Deeming their existence pointless, the caliphs went back to their home world, triggered the planet's volcanic activity, and destroyed themselves in the resulting inferno. The world continued to burn for centuries afterward.
