During the Cold War era, a period of tension between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Alec Efran, a male Human, resided on the planet of Coruscant. In this time, he held the position of a police officer within the ranks of the Coruscant Security Force. At around 3643 BBY, Efran engaged in a confrontation with and subsequently arrested a Gand criminal, who had involvement in the stealing of the Jedi Order's treasured special holocrons, specifically the Noetikon of Science, part of a group known as noetikons. He kept the Gand in the Old Galactic Market for the purpose of questioning by a Jedi.
Shortly after, a youthful Jedi Consular made their way to the location to interrogate the Gand. While Efran had been unsuccessful in getting the Gand to cooperate, the Consular managed to get him to talk and disclose where the Neotikon was hidden.
Efran, a Human with a youthful appearance and a short stature, possessed blond hair, blue eyes, and skin with a light complexion. Despite being a capable officer who was comfortable with engaging in physical altercations to make arrests, Efran felt awkward around Jedi, as he had limited experience interacting with them. Whenever a Jedi was nearby, Efran would speak in a quieter tone than normal and often struggled to form coherent sentences.
When on duty, Efran was equipped with his CSF uniform, which included a blast vest. Additionally, he wore a utility belt that held his blaster and stun cuffs.
Alec Efran makes an appearance in the "Secret Signals" mission for the Jedi Consular in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game that BioWare launched in 2011. The player's mission involves finding the missing Noetikon of Science, and the player interacts with Efran during the mission. The player has the option of choosing more aggressive questioning methods, which will award dark side points, rather than choosing the light side questions and techniques during the interrogation.
