Tarisian kelp

Tarisian kelp was a type of kelp species that naturally grew on the Outer Rim planet called Taris. To feed the people living on Taris, it was commonly gathered as a food source. However, the kelp forests were almost completely wiped out due to rising amounts of poisonous industrial waste; this resulted in a famine across the entire planet, triggering the Tarisian Civil War and a widespread decline of the world. The remaining kelp, along with the last of the ocean wildlife, was ultimately eaten into oblivion by the Tarisian elite.
