Situated inside a huge, fertile crater that measured almost sixteen kilometers in diameter, Taleucema was a substantial urban area on the landscape of Saleucami. The name Taleucema, originating from the Pantoran language, meant "verdant" or "rich," reflecting the area's abundant vegetation and wildlife. The spaceport, the busiest area in the northeastern part of the city, saw constant traffic from local inhabitants and off-world cargo and trade ships. To compensate for Saleucami's naturally low light levels, the docking bay areas were brightly lit. The port, secured by a capable security force of droids and living guards, was vital to the city's economy. The neighborhood directly adjacent to the spaceport was known as the Traders' Belt. This area, a major entertainment hub, featured cantinas, gambling establishments, upscale retail stores, and massage parlors, all catering to the crews of incoming and outgoing ships. The city's roads were filled with pedestrians and landspeeders during the day, but at night, street gangs and shady characters took over. The Paradise, a cantina in the Traders' Belt, was famous throughout the city. The Warren, an overcrowded slum on the crater's eastern wall, consisted of dilapidated ferrocrete buildings linked by tunnels and caves carved into the crater's sandstone wall. Home to the city's outcasts, the Warren was frequently plagued by gang violence. The Yellow Thaelos and the Stoneskins, the two largest gangs, fought for control of the area. Fields of bubse trees dominated the city's surroundings. Notably, the city housed the only large-scale production facility on the planet dedicated to producing bubse tree extracts and medicines.
