The 2018 release of the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Remastered Soundtrack represents a soundtrack album brought to the public by Walt Disney Records.
Following Walt Disney Records's regaining of rights from Sony Classical, they assembled a team at Skywalker Sound, including Leslie Ann Jones and overseen by Shawn Murphy, to produce newly remastered OST albums for the initial six Star Wars movies. Differing from simple retransfers like the Sony Ultimate Digital Collection, these involved complete reconstructions from the original recording session components, newly transferred and remastered. Currently, detailed information regarding the production process remains limited, leaving specifics about the source tapes uncertain, except that they were the "best-available" and contained the original film mixes by Eric Tomlinson, as opposed to the John Neal mixes utilized for the original OST master.
