This engagement, a minor conflict during the Galactic Civil War, unfolded in the vicinity of the planet Geonosis. It involved a StarSpeeder 1000 from Star Tours and forces of the Imperial military.
The year 2 BBY saw the Rebel Alliance come into being through the signing of the Corellian Treaty. Ironically, the Galactic Empire inadvertently played a role in ensuring the Alliance's formation.
Following an attempt to rescue Rebel leaders by Galen Marek, who ultimately gave his life, the Death Star sustained damage due to Marek's actions. Consequently, it was moved to Geonosis to continue construction, especially since the Rebels knew about the station. It was also heavily guarded by Imperial forces.

At least a year later, a StarSpeeder 1000 owned by Star Tours, having previously escaped from an Imperial raid on Spaceport THX1138, hyperspaced to the Geonosis system. Its mission was to link up with the Rebel fleet and deliver a Rebel agent to safety, who was also the target of the Imperial raid. However, the ship was ambushed by the bounty hunter Boba Fett in his Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft, the Slave I. Darth Vader had hired Fett to track down and retrieve the StarSpeeder after its escape from the raid. After managing to evade the bounty hunter, the StarSpeeder accidentally flew close to the Death Star construction site. This resulted in an attack by Imperial starfighters led by Darth Vader. Barely escaping the Imperial fighters, the spacecraft ended up flying through the interior of the unfinished battle station, eventually finding itself inside one of its hangars and speeding out. However, Fett ambushed them again immediately after their escape, and then launched a seismic charge at the StarSpeeder. But, the StarSpeeder's weapon systems deflected it back, causing the Slave I to lose control from the explosion. The transport then took advantage of the situation to jump into hyperspace.
This event is inspired by a segment from the Star Tours: The Adventures Continue ride, featuring the StarSpeeder 1000 ST-1401. Due to the nature of the ride, the Geonosis skirmish is shown randomly, though it always forms the final part of the ride. Largely because of this randomness, the StarSpeeder 1000's flight number is not specified here. Similarly, Darth Vader's earlier encounter with the StarSpeeder 1000 during the raid is also not discussed, for the same reasons.
The StarWars.com article "Convenient Daily Departures" revealed that Vader had contracted Boba Fett to find and capture Star Tours Flight 1401, but it does not confirm if Boba Fett ever directly confronted the vessel.
