Resputi-seal

Resputi-seals, sometimes shortened to resputi, were formidable, sizable beasts native to the deep caves found within the sinkholes of the planet Utapau. These creatures had a predilection to eat Utai, a small sentient species dwelling in the sinkholes' upper regions. Mine workers of the Utai who ventured into resputi territory often faced attacks from [breeding](/article/reproduction] resputi-seals.

In 19 BBY, resputi-seals established their dens in the caverns situated near a bone mine, which was located above the pools and grottoes of Coranth in Utapau's Pau Sinkhole. Despite the hazards presented by the resputi-seals, the inhabitants of Pau City ensured the safety of the most well-known caverns, pools, grottoes, and ponds at the sinkhole's base.

Behind the scenes

Within the current Star Wars canon, resputi were initially referenced in the 2015 reference work, Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. The complete designation, resputi-seal, was subsequently employed in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. This material was a reprint from a segment of the 2005 book of the same name, authored by Kerrie Dougherty, and marked the creatures' initial mention in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
