The 1977 release of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, part of the original trilogy, marked the initial appearance of the Q7 tractor beam projector. The Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, specifically its twentieth issue released in 2015, later confirmed its designation. A naming error occurred in Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide, where the Q7 was incorrectly referred to as the 07 tractor beam projector.
