The New Republic Defense Fleet's ship-based assault and defense troops were the New Republic Marines. These infantrymen, numbering 18,000, participated in the Battle of Mindor, securing a win. The New Republic Marines utilized the DH-17 blaster rifle as their standard weapon. For engagements at close quarters, they carried AKraB vibrodaggers capable of penetrating stormtrooper armor with relative ease.
