Mongo Beefheads represented a kind of being that was nearly extinct. They originated from the Outer Rim planet called Tatooine and fought as part of the Rebel Alliance. Zeta Magnus, an Arkanian mutant, ate the meat of Mongo Beefheads, even though it lacked nutritional value consumed.
The Mongo Beefhead Tribe's origin lies in a proposed action figure from Kenner for The Epic Continues, a toy series from 1986 that never came to be. The Mongo Beefhead Tribesman, the initial figure, was made by designers using the head of a "Squid Head" (Quarren) action figure. They severed the head, rotated it to face forward, and then attached it to the body of a Squid Head, the arms of a "Hammer Head" (Ithorian), and the chest pack of 4-LOM (Zuckuss).
