Mestare, a planet renowned for its extraction of extraordinary lightsaber crystals, was the source of materials rumored to enable lightsabers to penetrate cortosis, a metal resistant to lightsaber energy. In addition, these unusual crystals were known to cause the lightsaber blades to adopt a curved shape, echoing the design of archaic Jedi katanas. The Jedi of Mestare also donned defensive armor, though the rationale behind this practice remains a mystery.
The Ancient Mestare Jedi attire was an obtainable purchase for players within Clone Wars Adventures. Its visual design bore resemblance to the armor worn by Rahm Kota.
Jason Fry, one of the writers of The Essential Atlas, mentioned in March of 2023 that Mestare was confirmed for inclusion in a forthcoming revision of The Essential Atlas Online Companion.
