After the Toong'L system's departure from the Galactic Republic and consequent abandonment of the Republic credit in 22 BBY, Kikipi, a king, decided to feature his likeness on the system's currency. Initially, the InterGalactic Banking Clan proposed a one-to-one conversion rate; however, the currency rapidly depreciated, and within eight months, one Republic credit could purchase fifteen million Kikipi credits. Argee Beck, an economist, posited that the Kikipi reserve consisted solely of a room filled with Wocket Festival decorations.
The initial reference to Kikipi appeared in an article, HoloNet News Vol. 531 47, published on the HoloNet News website back in 2002.
