Iraidas, which are also sometimes referred to as Lraidas, were a type of carnivorous reptomammal species that originated from the world of Alderaan. A defining characteristic of these creatures was their elongated ears, which enabled them to possess highly developed auditory senses, crucial for detecting and pursuing their quarry. Their fur, a pale bluish-grey hue, served as insulation against the frigid temperatures of Alderaan's mountainous regions.
A distant evolutionary connection exists between them and the bolraida, another reptomammalian species inhabiting the same planet. However, the Iraidas exhibited a significantly greater level of intelligence compared to their more ferocious and hostile relatives. This intellectual advantage allowed them to become more strategic hunters than the bolraida, employing varied tactics to capture their prey.
On occasion, these creatures were employed as guard animals, though their utility in this capacity was somewhat restricted. Furthermore, they held a prominent position in the arenas during gladiatorial-style competitions, a form of entertainment that garnered considerable popularity among spectators.
