Flight simulator

FlightSimulator-SW2 Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles are seen exiting an X-wing flight simulator

A holosimulator, also known as a flight simulator, was a type of machine utilized by pilots to mimic the experience of taking off, landing, and engaging in combat while flying.

Holosimulators were available as compact units, enabling users to both design and recreate combat scenarios. The CS-Mark 10, produced by Plescinia Entertainments, came with the "Great Battles of the Empire" series pre-installed.

History

Holosimulators had many applications, including the training of starfighter pilots for their roles and for battle. The Empire, the Rebel Alliance, and the New Republic all used holosimulators to train their pilots and to get ready for missions. They were also used as a form of entertainment. Luke Skywalker was given a simulator exercise before the Battle of Yavin. Because of his demonstrated abilities, he was then admitted into Red Squadron.

One particular holosimulator model was present in Jagged Fel's quarters during his time as Head of State. It was a spherical device, measuring approximately two meters in height, and it had the capability to simulate any TIE model, including the Chiss clawcraft. Like TIE models, it featured a top hatch. The selection of opponents, as well as the skill levels and distribution of pilots, could be adjusted with accuracy. Fel was just about to start a simulation when an attempt was made to kidnap him.
