Ground-apples were a specific variety of fruit that grew on the forest moon of Endor. The sentient Ewok species utilized them in the creation of ground-apple stock. During one particularly harsh winter on Endor, the mother of the Ewok named Wicket Wystri Warrick contributed her remaining ground-apple stock to enrich the broth of a stew. This stew was prepared using a kublag that the Bright Tree tribe had managed to capture. Even with the added thickness from the ground-apple stock and raventhorn root, the resulting stew proved insufficient to satiate the hunger of the entire tribe and fill their bellies.
Within the current Star Wars canon, ground-apples received a mention in "The Kroolok." This short story, a collaborative effort by Cavan Scott and George Mann, was included in the Life Day Treasury collection released in 2021. The fruit's origin lies in the Star Wars Legends timeline, where it was known as groundapples and featured in the 2007 novel Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice, penned by Karen Traviss.
