Yoffar was a Gotal of the male persuasion. During the initial years of the Galactic Empire's reign, he made his living selling jogan fruit on the planet of Lothal. On one occasion, he almost found himself in custody, accused of treason by Imperial Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko and Taskmaster Myles Grint. This close call occurred because Yoffar voiced criticisms of the Empire while they were questioning him about his business activities. Fortunately for the Gotal, the local street kid Ezra Bridger intervened, diverting the Imperials' attention with a fabricated emergency transmission.
During the Galactic Empire's reign, a male Gotal named Yoffar worked as a street merchant on the planet Lothal. Around Lothal Year 3272, he was an aging individual barely scraping by through the sale of day-old jogan fruits within Capital City on Lothal. He had occasional interactions with Ezra Bridger, a local street urchin who sometimes stole from him. Once, Yoffar wrongly accused the boy of stealing a jogan. While he was selling his goods, Imperial Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko and Taskmaster Myles Grint approached Yoffar. They requested to see his identification and questioned him about his business not being registered with the Empire. This check was actually part of a planned demonstration of the Empire's ability to quickly address problems. When Yoffar made critical comments about the Empire, the two Imperials swiftly summoned a pair of stormtroopers and prepared to arrest him for treason.

However, before the Imperials could take Yoffar into custody, they received an emergency call on their comlinks, summoning them to the main square. As a result, they abandoned the street merchant. The Gotal noticed Bridger sending out the fake Imperial emergency broadcast on a communicator he had taken from Aresko. He expressed his gratitude to the boy for saving him from arrest. He offered Bridger a jogan, which the boy accepted before grabbing a few more fruits and leaving.
Yoffar's physical characteristics included white fur, gray skin, and orange eyes. He was generally bad-tempered and frequently mistook Ezra Bridger for other orphaned children living on the streets, which caused the boy to dislike him. Initially, Yoffar was defiant when Aresko and Grint approached him, but he quickly became frightened when stormtroopers arrived to arrest him. Although he was grateful to Bridger for saving him, he still complained when the urchin took more fruit than he had been offered.
Yoffar's first appearance was in the 2014 television movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, which served as the premiere episode for the Star Wars Rebels television series.
