Tseebo

Tseebo, a Rodian of the male persuasion, served the Imperial Information Office while stationed on Lothal. He possessed an AJ^6 cyborg construct, a device containing crucial data for the Galactic Empire, notably a five year strategy concerning the Outer Rim Territories. Approximately four years prior to the Battle of Yavin, Tseebo disappeared, instigating a large Imperial search led by Imperial Security Bureau Agent Kallus and the Grand Inquisitor, a hunter of Jedi. He was eventually located by Ezra Bridger, whose parents he had known previously, and the rebels, who extracted him from Imperial grasp and secured his anonymity.

Biography

A Friend to the Bridger Family

Born in 42 BBY, Tseebo maintained a close friendship with Ephraim and Mira, who were Ezra Bridger's parents. He worried, however, that their anti-Imperial actions would put their son in harm's way. Tseebo attempted to caution Ephraim and Mira, but the couple insisted on defending their beliefs. When the Galactic Empire apprehended Ephraim and Mira, Tseebo did not intervene. Consequently, their son Ezra was compelled to survive on the streets of Lothal's Capital City. Overwhelmed by remorse, Tseebo began working for the Imperial Information Office. In an effort to uncover the fate of Ephraim and Mira, he volunteered to have an AJ^6 cyborg construct implanted into him.

Fleeing the Empire

Tseebo is found by the Ghost crew in the old Bridger home

By the time of the Empire's fifteenth anniversary, Tseebo, then 38 years of age, was in possession of highly confidential Imperial data. This included schematics for new TIE fighters and walkers, timetables for stormtrooper tactics and strategies, and a five year plan concerning Lothal and all other planets within the Outer Rim. He absconded from Imperial authorities, seeking to remove the information from Lothal. Given the extremely sensitive nature of the data Tseebo possessed, the Empire initiated a planet-wide search to prevent him from falling into the hands of the rebellion.

Having nowhere else to turn, Tseebo sought refuge in the former Bridger household. Later that evening, he was discovered by Ezra, Kanan Jarrus, and Sabine Wren, who were members of the rebel group known as the Spectres. Due to his anger toward Tseebo for his inaction regarding his parents, Ezra initially refused to assist him. However, Kanan and Sabine disagreed and chose to rescue Tseebo because of the valuable intelligence he carried. The rebels successfully commandeered an Imperial Troop Transport, eluded their Imperial pursuers, and reached the outskirts of Capital City. There, they were airlifted to safety by their rebel allies aboard the Ghost, a modified VCX-100 light freighter that served as the Spectres' primary base of operations.

As the Ghost ascended into space, Tseebo regained consciousness and immediately recognized Ezra. Before he could address the boy, the Ghost was attacked by TIE fighters led by the Grand Inquisitor. Hera Syndulla, the ship's captain, instructed Sabine to man the nose gun. When Sabine expressed interest in Tseebo's knowledge of Ezra's parents, a bitter Ezra asserted that they were deceased. After Sabine departed, Ezra questioned Tseebo about his parents' fate. Tseebo could only recall the day of their capture but could not determine their current location. He then lamented his failure to save the Bridgers, only further upsetting Ezra, who refused to forgive him.

Attaining Forgiveness

Tseebo is rescued by the Spectres

Tseebo played a key role in the rebels' escape from the Empire by transmitting hyperspace coordinates into the Ghost's hyperdrive. As the crew paused to recover, Tseebo lapsed back into his unresponsive state. While Ezra and the other rebels debated what to do with Tseebo, the Rodian unexpectedly projected a hologram revealing that the Imperials had managed to attach a tracking device to the Ghost. The ship's astromech droid Chopper then conducted a scan confirming the presence of the tracking device on the hull of the Phantom.

While Kanan and Ezra piloted the Phantom to Fort Anaxes to draw the Grand Inquisitor away from the Ghost, Tseebo remained on board. Hera had contacted Fulcrum, the enigmatic rebel leader, and arranged for Tseebo to enter into hiding. During the journey, Tseebo overheard Ezra calling out to him via the Force, offering forgiveness for his failure to stand by his parents. Although he could not respond in kind, Tseebo felt a sense of relief at being forgiven. As the Ghost met with Fulcrum's CR90 corvette, Tseebo informed Hera that he knew the fate of Ezra's parents. Before departing, Hera promised to share this information with Ezra when the time was right.

Legacy

Months afterward, Tseebo's information proved useful when Ezra experienced a Force vision of his parents. Hera then revealed that Ezra's parents had been imprisoned within a vast network of Imperial prisons scattered throughout the galaxy. Ezra, accompanied by his master Kanan, returned to Lothal. There, they encountered Ryder Azadi, the former Governor of Lothal and a friend of the Bridgers. He revealed that Ephraim and Mira, inspired by their son's involvement in the rebellion, had attempted an escape attempt but were killed. Despite the loss of his parents, Ezra found peace with his past and moved forward.

Years after Tseebo was spirited away by the Spectres, the incident remained fresh in the minds of the Imperials. When Everi Chalis, the governor of Haidoral Prime, defected to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, she feared being hunted down by the Imperial Ruling Council, stating that the Empire could not afford another Tseebo.

Personality and Traits

Tseebo became an ally of the Rebellion against the Empire

As a Rodian, Tseebo possessed a humanoid form, characterized by large, round eyes and a narrow snout. His skin was yellow, and his eyes were green. He also bore an AJ^6 cyborg construct, which allowed him to store a significant quantity of sensitive Imperial data. Although Tseebo was a close friend of Ezra Bridger's parents, Ephraim and Mira, he lacked the courage and strength to challenge the Galactic Empire. Driven by guilt for failing to support them and protect Ezra, Tseebo joined the Imperial Information Office and volunteered to receive a cybernetic implant, hoping to locate the Bridgers and aid the rebellion against the Empire. While the cyborg implant facilitated his interaction with technology, the sheer volume of information caused him to become disoriented and confused.

Behind the Scenes

Tseebo was introduced as a supporting character in the Star Wars Rebels episodes "Empire Day" and "Gathering Forces," which debuted on November 10 and November 17 2014, respectively. Peter MacNicol provided his voice in both episodes. He also appeared in Michael Kogge's Ezra's Duel with Danger, a chapter book incorporating elements from the Rebels episodes "Empire Day," "Gathering Forces," and "Path of the Jedi." He was later mentioned in Alexander Freed's 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company.
