The Superlaser Fire Control, also known as the Fire Control Room, was a specific area located within the Theta Sector on both Death Star space stations. This chamber housed the superlaser controls and was staffed by gunners along with Death Star troopers. On the first Death Star, the Fire Control Room's location was near Detention Block 2180 as well as Hangars 84G and 85G.

Present on each Death Star, Fire Control was the central hub for coordinating the firing sequences of all contributing superlasers. It also managed their collimation using a magnetic ring system. Inside the room were eight computers used to control the lasers, supplemented by four backup stations. While the first Death Star had its firing switch situated within Fire Control, the second battle station relocated this switch to the main control room.
Sometime before 0 BBY, a group of Rebel prisoners escaped from Detention Block 2180. They managed to seize control of the Fire Control Room, but their prison break was ultimately thwarted by stormtroopers belonging to the 501st Legion, who successfully reclaimed the area.

Later on, Imperial gunner Tenn Graneet and his assigned team were stationed in Superlaser Fire Control following extensive practice sessions in the Superlaser Simulator. When a Rebel Lucrehulk-class battleship, named the Fortressa, materialized and launched its starfighters, Fire Control engaged the superlaser, obliterating the Lucrehulk. Subsequently, they received directives to target the planet called Despayre. Utilizing only thirty-three percent of the superlaser's power, it required three separate blasts to completely annihilate the planet. Afterward, the crew was instructed to destroy Alderaan. This action deeply affected Graneet, whose role involved activating the firing switch, leaving him disillusioned and harboring resentment towards the Empire.
As things progressed, the Rebels attacked the station after the Empire discovered their base located on Yavin 4. Still disturbed by Alderaan's destruction, Graneet hesitated to activate the firing lever when the Death Star achieved firing range. He repeatedly told his crew to "stand by..." while contemplating his course of action. His delay afforded Luke Skywalker, a Rebel pilot, sufficient time to launch proton torpedos into a thermal exhaust port. The resulting chain reaction caused the Death Star to explode, destroying the Fire Control room and killing everyone inside, including Graneet.
Following the Battle of Yavin, when the Death Star was reconstructed, the new battle station also contained a Superlaser Fire Control room. During the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the gunners within Fire Control targeted Rebel ships, which were promptly vaporized by the superlaser. However, the gunners were compelled to cease firing when the Rebel fleet closed the distance and engaged the Imperial fleet at point-blank range, preventing the Death Star from firing upon Rebel ships without also hitting Imperial ships.
As the battle's momentum shifted in favor of the Rebels, the crew received orders to target the Endor moon itself should the Rebels succeed in disabling the shield generator. After Rebel Han Solo successfully detonated the shield generator bunker, the crew confirmed the deflector shield's deactivation and began rotating the station towards Endor. With the station only thirty seconds away from firing, the Death Star was destroyed by damage inflicted upon its reactor by the Rebels, resulting in the annihilation of the Fire Control room and the deaths of all personnel onboard.
