Parlan Spinner, known by the grim epithet "Death Spinner" and the honorific "The Blademaster," was a Force-sensitive Human male insurgent affiliated with the Lost Tribe of Sith circa 2974 BBY. This Lost Tribe comprised descendants of Human Sith marooned on Kesh around 5000 BBY. Born into slavery, Spinner's birth occurred in the city of Eorm during the Festival of Nida's Rise in 3000 BBY. He descended from the ancient rebel Ermon Parrah, an outcast from the Tribe whose lineage was relegated to the lowly professions of weaving and ropemaking. This ancestry burdened Spinner with the stigma of an outsider, precluding any chance for upward mobility. As a youth, Spinner defied the Tribe's established order, becoming an outlaw renowned for acts of vandalism and defiance against the ruling powers. He even rejected his given name, "Parlan," embracing the moniker "Death Spinner" amongst his peers and the populace. Spinner rose to lead a band of outlaws called "Spinner's Web," becoming a persistent adversary of the local authorities.
By 2974 BBY, his campaign of anarchy culminated in an attempt to assassinate the reigning Grand Lord Varner Hilts, a reformist Sith credited with ending the Time of the Rot and initiating the Hilts Restoration. However, Hilt's daughter, Takara Hilts—who served as the Prefect of Police—uncovered his scheme and orchestrated a sting operation that led to Spinner's capture and subsequent imprisonment. While facing execution for his numerous transgressions against the Tribe, Varner demonstrated leniency, offering Spinner a second chance as a sailor aboard the exploratory vessel Southern Star. The ship's mission was to explore the frozen continent of Eshkrene located at Kesh's South Pole. Despite their initial animosity, Spinner and Takara's paths converged once more on Eshkrene. Following a confrontation with the ship's captain, Chegg, and his crew, the two Human Sith encountered the Doomed—the descendants of stranded Jedi and Dark Jedi warriors from the Hundred-Year Darkness who had reconciled after their actions triggered the Great Calamity that devastated much of Kesh, giving rise to legends of the Skyborn and Destructors among the native Keshiri.
The Doomed, led by their S'kytri leader Kaliska, captured the intruders. During their captivity, Spinner and Takara learned about the Doomed's origins, including their role in the Great Calamity and a "Great Weapon" secured for preservation. Seizing an opportunity to retaliate against the Tribe, Spinner and the Keshiri crew absconded with the "Great Weapon" aboard the Southern Star. However, Kaliska and Takara pursued them, attempting to prevent Spinner from opening the oubliette containing the "Great Weapon," which turned out to be the ancient Dark Jedi warlord Remulus Dreypa, a survivor of the Hundred-Year Darkness. Upon awakening, Spinner and the Keshiri pledged allegiance to the powerful Dark Sider, while Kaliska and Takara were taken prisoner. While Dreypa sought to return to the galaxy, he saw Spinner as a useful ally, eventually elevating him to the rank of Sith Lord.
After assassinating the local Lost Tribe rulers at the port of Eorm, Dreypa and Spinner incited a peasant revolt against the Lost Tribe. Despite initial victories on the Marisota Floodplain, Dreypa's forces suffered significant losses and were forced to retreat by the Tribe's elite Skyborn Rangers. Dreypa had also planned to hold Takara hostage for negotiations, but the Sith princess escaped with Kaliska back to Eshkrene aboard a large squadron of uvaks, winged reptilian steeds native to Kesh. There, the Doomed mobilized to thwart Dreypa's megalomaniacal ambitions. Dreypa's forces retreated to the volcanic crater of Sessal Spire, where the Dark Jedi unleashed his pet Leviathans, monstrous serpentine Sithspawn that consumed the life energies of sentient beings. The Leviathans quickly decimated much of the rebel and Lost Tribe forces. No longer needing subordinates to fulfill his plans, Dreypa betrayed his former ally, Spinner.
However, Spinner then allied himself with his adversary Takara to rescue her mother, Grand Consort Iliana Hilts, from being devoured by a Leviathan. Spinner personally slew the beast. Meanwhile, the Doomed arrived at Sessal Spire and engaged Dreypa's Sithspawn, but they were no match for the Leviathans, resulting in numerous casualties. Amidst the chaos, Spinner managed to flee the battlefield with Takara, Iliana, and the Doomed leader Kaliska. Spinner quickly learned from Kaliska that the ancient ancestors of the Doomed had concealed a Jedi starship beneath the Circle Eternal in the Lost Tribe's capital of Kesh. Fearing the threat posed by Dreypa's megalomania, Kaliska urged the two Sith to destroy the vessel before Dreypa could claim it for himself. After gaining Takara's trust, Spinner also agreed to help transport her weakened mother, Iliana, back to Tahv. Spinner managed to escape the scene with Iliana on an uvak before Dreypa's Leviathans could intercept them. Kaliska was killed by one of the Sithspawn, and through her, Dreypa learned of the existence of the Last Hope.
Takara remained behind to delay the Dark Jedi but was unable to defeat him in combat and was subsequently captured. The Dark Jedi intended to use the Sith princess as leverage to coerce Spinner into surrendering the Last Hope. Meanwhile, Spinner brought Iliana back to Tahv as promised and managed to reach the Last Hope. However, he broke his promise to destroy the vessel and attempted to travel to Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic. Nevertheless, Dreypa caught up with the Sith outcast and threatened to destroy Tahv if he did not return the starship. Concerned for the well-being of his former enemy-turned-friend Takara and the destructive potential of Dreypa's Leviathans, Spinner returned to Tahv in his starship. After eliminating the Leviathans with the starship's weapon systems, he rescued Takara, who managed to board his ship. However, Dreypa pursued them and demanded that Spinner return his vessel.
Spinner agreed, but he set the ship's autopilot on a collision course with Sessal Spire's volcanic crater. After returning the vessel to Dreypa, he and Takara jumped into the Southern Ocean. Subsequently, the Dark Jedi Dreypa perished in the volcano, preventing any information about Kesh and the Lost Tribe from reaching the wider galaxy. Following Dreypa's defeat, the former outcast Spinner was welcomed into the Tribe as the "savior" of Tahv. He was subsequently recruited by the grateful Grand Lord Hilts as one of the "Grand Lord's Hands," secret agents tasked with eliminating threats to the Grand Lord. Spinner also entered into a romantic relationship with his former enemy, Takara.

According to the report Enemy of the Order: The record of Parlan Spinner, vandal and would-be revolutionary, archived within the Lost Tribe of Sith's intelligence repository at Orreg, Parlan Spinner descended from Ermon Parrah—the relief navigator aboard the Sith warship Omen and one of the first Humans to be ostracized from the Tribe. The Lost Tribe originated from Human Sith slaves belonging to Naga Sadow's Sith Empire who fled the Great Hyperspace War around 5000 BBY. His ancestor, Ermon Parrah, once spearheaded a failed attempt to seize the crippled Sith warship Omen and escape into hyperspace. As punishment, Parrah and his future descendants were enslaved and commanded to spin a chord long enough to reach the stars in exchange for reinstatement into the Tribe. They became known as the Spinner family and toiled for centuries in a futile attempt to fulfill this impossible task. Since achieving such a feat was physically impossible, Parlan's descendants were perpetually impoverished.
Over generations, the Spinner family became stigmatized as a poor, working-class clan of weavers and ropemakers, treated with disdain by the Tribe. The stigma of enslavement was so deeply ingrained that the Spinners continued to weave unquestioningly even when governmental order collapsed during The Time of the Rot. The young Parlan Spinner was born during the chaotic Festival of Nida's Rise. Spinner was the only known member of his family to rebel against this imposed destiny, viewing the "rope to the stars" as a path to seizing power from the Tribe. At a young age, he abandoned his home and lived as an outlaw, an anarchist opposing the established order. As an outcast, Parlan was denied access to education and other opportunities for social advancement on Kesh. From childhood, Parlan harbored deep resentment towards the Tribe for marginalizing his family. He also rejected his given name, preferring the alias "Death Spinner."
At eleven years old, Spinner encountered trouble with the local authorities for defacing the statue of Yaru Korsin in Eorm. Throughout his teenage years, Spinner's crimes escalated from vandalism to robbery and sabotage. According to Prefect of Police Takara Hilts—daughter of Caretaker Varner Hilts and Grand Consort Iliana Hilts, Spinner's actions were motivated by a desire to disrupt the authorities. Spinner, however, justified his actions as part of an anarchic guerrilla war against the powers on Kesh. By the twelfth year of the Hilts Restoration, Spinner had joined a gang of outlaws who ambushed and killed Keshiri tribute bearers traveling to Orreg from the east.
By 2974 BBY, Spinner had gained the attention of the Tahv Constabulary for his frequent robberies. Constantly evading the authorities, Spinner lived off the land and accumulated few possessions. He also became the leader of his own gang, "Spinner's Web," which specialized in harassing the authorities. Prefect Hilts investigated Spinner's involvement in several crimes, including a plot to assassinate all the Keshiri cake decorators before High Lord Nikoll's wedding, and a terror plot to hijack an airship and crash it into the southeastern aqueduct. By 2975 BBY, his latest crimes included an attempt to desecrate the Keshiri Burial Cairns beneath the old Circle Eternal. Prefect Hilts attempted to apprehend him, but he escaped. While exploring the catacombs, Spinner also discovered a working ancient Jedi starship hidden beneath the Circle Eternal by the Jedi after the Great Calamity, which ended in a truce between the Jedi and their Dark Jedi adversaries.
During her investigation, Hilts speculated that this reflected a disdain for tradition but concluded that he had no political aims to overthrow the government. Therefore, Spinner was classified as a persistent troublemaker rather than a rebel, a far more serious offense on Kesh. As a low-level offender, Grand Lord Hilts assigned Spinner's case to the Tahv Constabulary, rather than the elite security forces such as the Lost Tribe's Sabers and Apprentices, who focused on eliminating rival Force-wielders challenging the establishment. In correspondence between Prefect Hilts and her father, Grand Lord Hilts, she offered two options: killing or capturing Spinner. Ultimately, the reformist Grand Lord chose to spare the youth's life by capturing him, intending to give him a second chance.

In 2974 BBY, Spinner's anarchic activities reached a climax when he plotted to assassinate Grand Lord Varner Hilts during the celebrations commemorating the arrival of the Omen on Kesh—the warship carrying the original ancestors of the Lost Tribe. For centuries, the Lost Tribe had maintained dominance over the Keshiri by claiming to be the Skyborn, ancient protectors from Keshiri mythology who fought against the evil Destructors. Thus, the Lost Tribe held a demi-god status among their Keshiri subjects. Officially, Spinner told his fellow gang members in "Spinner's Web" that they were only there to create mischief. However, one member of his group secretly worked as an informant for the Tahv authorities and leaked intelligence of Spinner's plans to Takara, who informed her father Varner. The Grand Lord then devised a trap for the youth.
During the celebrations, Spinner and at least two accomplices donned jesters' masks and deliberately entered a parade by members of the Lost Tribe. Several Keshiri onlookers initially mistook them for participants, but their presence angered the Sith. One Lord scolded one of Spinner's accomplices for disrupting the Founding celebrations. Spinner managed to break free from several Constables, exclaiming loudly that only a fool would celebrate being stranded on what he called a "festering lump of a world." Before the guards could stop him, Spinner discarded his mask and headed towards the sedan carrying Lord Hilts, deriding him as the "Head Fool."
To the horror of his comrades, Spinner unsheathed his dagger and jumped into the sedan, shouting that he was the "Death Spinner" and was tired of waiting. However, the sedan chair proved to be a decoy, and the youth encountered Prefect Takara, Varner Hilts' daughter. She used the Force to disarm him. Surrounded by constables, Spinner refused to concede. As a final act, he threw a minlohku dart at a Keshiri constable, grazing his shoulder. However, Spinner was quickly overpowered by the constable's comrades. Still defiant, he attempted to provoke the Prefect by exclaiming that they could not break his spirit because he was the "Death Spinner."
Takara Hilts retorted that she did not want to break his spirit but rather his body. She ordered her constables to rough him up as part of the night's celebrations. Spinner was taken to Grand Lord Hilts' palace, where he was beaten and roughed up for several hours. However, Takara ensured that her subordinates did not permanently maim or cripple him because Grand Lord Hilts had ordered that he be captured alive and brought before him. Spinner's accomplices were not so fortunate, as Grand Lord's wife Iliana had ordered their summary execution, disagreeing with her husband's decision to spare Spinner's life, regarding him as an assassin. However, Varner insisted on meeting the youth himself.

At dawn, a beaten and disheveled Spinner was brought before Grand Lord Hilts. Hilts was a historian dedicated to studying the Lost Tribe's history. He explained to Spinner that he had not attended the celebrations because he had little interest in state functions, which took time away from his research. Unlike his Sith compatriots, Hilts believed time was more valuable than power, as nobody had ever broken the chains of time. Spinner regarded Hilts as a stereotypical "absent-minded" professor who did not fit conventional definitions of a "proper" Grand Lord. Hilts simply commented that Spinner should blame the founders for perpetuating the view that power was synonymous with authority.
He was examining a Keshiri tapestry detailing the ancient history of the Keshiri people. Hilts explained the historical origins of the Tribe; that they had been slaves of Naga Sadow sent on a mission to deliver lightsaber crystals when their starship crashed on Kesh and encountered the Keshiri. The Keshiri were a backward, premodern society that was deeply superstitious. One of their legends described an ancient cataclysm between two powerful series of gods known as the Protectors and Destructors. Hilts surmised that the Tribe's ancestors simply co-opted the Keshiri legend by convincing them that they were the Protectors. Spinner responded that this action disgusted him because he believed that Sith should destroy rather than protect.
Meanwhile, Spinner managed to untie his bonds and attempted to strangle the Grand Lord. However, he was caught by Hilts' daughter Takara, who hit him on the head with an ancient urn. True to his absent-minded nature, Varner merely asked if the urn had belonged to someone important. Takara then revealed that investigations had confirmed that "Death Spinner" was actually the working-class vagabond and slave Parlan Spinner. Spinner angrily responded that her tribe was to blame for casting out his family generations earlier and reducing them to poverty. He reiterated that they were still Sith who could use the dark side of the Force.
Takara, however, had little sympathy for the outlaw youth, dismissing him as a vandal convicted of attempting to desecrate the Keshiri Burial Cairns beneath the Circle Eternal. She described Spinner as an irreverent miscreant who would kill anyone for any reason. Takara's hostility was echoed by her mother Iliana, who chided her daughter for bringing an assassin into her husband's parlor, adding that Spinner should have been executed in the street along with his coterie. However, Lord Hilts was unconcerned and explained to the youth that killing him would be unwise since Spinner lacked the necessary qualities to succeed him as landlord.
Hilts further lectured Spinner and his family about the complex power structure his ancestors had established to channel their ambitions. With its collapse in 3960 BBY, the Tribe had nearly gone extinct after nine hundred years of turmoil and civil war known as The Time of the Rot. However, Grand Lord Hilts had used his knowledge of history to restore order through a series of reforms known as the Hilts Restoration. Spinner remained unmoved and commented that the current political order only benefited the elite while the masses remained powerless. Grand Lord Hilts sensed Spinner's impatience but reiterated that he could be put to good use. Under the Hilts Restoration, the Grand Lord had commissioned the construction of a new fleet of wooden ships to explore new frontiers in the continent of Alanciar. His wife Iliana chided her husband for allowing his enemies to live, as that would threaten the family's grip on power.

Lord Hilts commanded Takara, his daughter, to pilot an uvak to the newly constructed docks situated to the west of Berav. Her mission was to locate a Keshiri navigator, known as the Southern Star, who had just arrived from Alanciar. This ship's captain, Chegg, was scheduled to embark on an exploratory expedition. Lord Hilts instructed Takara to inform Chegg that Spinner would be joining his crew, courtesy of the Grand Lord. However, Iliana, still harboring mistrust towards Spinner, instructed Takara, her daughter, to eliminate him should he cause further disruptions. At that moment, Spinner came to the realization that Varner and Iliana Hilts were, in fact, Takara's parents. He then voiced his astonishment that the offspring of nobles of such esteemed social standing was engaged in patrol duties, a task typically relegated to the Keshiri and considered a low-status occupation. Takara clarified that this practice reflected her father's belief that tribal power was not inherited but rather earned through demonstrated ability. She elaborated that the High Lords elected the Grand Lord, a system designed to prevent conflicts among the various ruling families. Spinner inquired mockingly whether Lord Hilts was protecting her or his "precious tribe."
Takara responded with indifference but acknowledged the challenge of adhering to Sith principles due to her father's merit-based policies. Spinner seized the opportunity to mock the Prefect, noting that despite having authored a treatise on being thwarted, he remained determined to leverage his new role as a sailor to elevate his social status. In a final parting remark, Spinner suggested that Takara could continue as her parents' obedient servant, while he would amass wealth as a mariner. Captain Chegg, a Keshiri, belonged to the indigenous species of Kesh, subjugated by the Lost Tribe centuries ago. A stern and demanding figure, Chegg assigned the young Spinner to manage the ship's sails and rigging. He harbored disdain for the arrogance displayed by many of the Human Sith on Kesh and exploited Spinner's position to take advantage of the young Human. The majority of Humans he had encountered in his maritime career were either slaves or criminals banished by the Tribe. From the outset, the two men were at odds, with Chegg viewing Spinner as an unwelcome source of trouble.
After several days at sea, the Southern Star bypassed Alanciar and set course towards Kesh's South Pole, rumored to conceal a vast, frozen continent. The majority of the Sith population and their Keshiri subjects resided on the main continent of Keshtah Minor. However, due to tribal rivalries and population pressures, Grand Lord Hilts had initiated a maritime exploration program to discover new territories and resources. Despite their initial animosity, Spinner and Takara were destined for another encounter. One day, while Spinner was below deck sharpening his daggers, he encountered Takara, who had secretly boarded the ship. Weary of her duties as a Constable, she, like Spinner, sought a fresh start in Alanciar. She had mistakenly believed that Spinner's ship was circumnavigating Keshtah before heading towards Alanciar. Upon reaching the ship's deck, Takara swiftly realized that they were not headed to Alanciar but were instead sailing towards the South Pole.
At that moment, Captain Chegg discovered Takara. Unaware of her true identity, he presumed she was another Human castaway who had stowed away on the Southern Star. He reiterated that everyone aboard his ship had a duty to fulfill and that stowaways were considered slackers. Spinner attempted to speak on Takara's behalf, trying to convey her importance. However, Takara claimed to be just another passenger. Exploiting the privileged status of Humans in Keshiri society, Takara insulted the Captain, telling him to mind his tongue since he was a Keshiri. However, Chegg was not amused by the Human girl's defiance and reminded her that the only "gods" above his ship were the surveyors and straw bosses in his crew. Everyone else below those ranks were indentured laborers. He then ordered his two Human charges to begin working, emphasizing that with their destination being uncharted waters, he needed all hands on deck to ensure a successful landfall.
Spinner and Takara were subsequently assigned to work on the sails and rigging. The polar climate made working on the exposed deck a challenging task. Growing weary of his labor, Spinner questioned Takara about her decision not to reveal her true identity, as they could have returned to warmer regions. Takara responded that her parents would not grant her the advantage of her family name, and thus she would not exploit it for her own benefit. Given his impoverished background, Spinner believed that Takara was squandering her power and privileges. Takara retorted that he could forge his own path while she forged hers. She then reiterated that she was a Sith and had devised a plan. This plan involved sneaking back aboard the ship and sailing back to Keshtah, leaving the Captain and his crew behind. Upon landing on the frigid shores of the South Pole, Chegg and his surveying crew began unloading supplies and equipment. They intended to establish a camp and then explore the region in the coming days.
Dissatisfied with his polar assignment, Captain Cheggs sarcastically labeled the newly uncharted land "Frozen Pit." Despite the presence of various wild animals and trees, Cheggs doubted the existence of sentient life and expressed his confusion as to why the tribe had tasked him and his crew with surveying the South Pole. He instructed his men to construct shelters in anticipation of an approaching snowstorm. Meanwhile, Spinner and Takara attempted to sneak back aboard the Southern Star but were apprehended by the crew. For Cheggs, this confirmed his initial suspicion that Spinner was a troublemaker from the moment he boarded. He ordered his crew to execute the two "mutineers." After fending off several Keshiri crew members using their Force abilities, the two Humans fled towards the forest. Meanwhile, Cheggs promised to reward whoever killed the ringleader with double rations and triple rations if both were captured alive.
As they fled, Takara scolded Spinner for disrupting her plans by following her. Takara had intended to board quietly and then eliminate the guards one by one. However, Spinner had wanted to harm the Captain and emphasized that there was no satisfaction in winning if their opponents were not aware of it. After emerging from the forest, they headed towards a large hill where they stumbled upon the skeletons of a massive creature, identified as a leviathan, a monstrous and gigantic Sithspawn from the Hundred-Year Darkness. Takara slipped and lost her lightsaber. By then, Chegg and his men had caught up with the mutineers and seized Takara's lightsaber. While the Keshiri lacked the Force abilities of the Human Sith, they understood the importance of not losing their weapons in the snow. After belittling the Human "Protectors," claiming they would perish like Keshiri, he and his crew were about to kill the Humans when they were struck down by arrows fired by several cloaked figures on the horizon.
Takara attempted to fight off the strangers with her lightsaber but was swiftly disarmed by them. The leader quickly identified Takara as the daughter of Grand Lord Hilts and instructed her followers to lower their bows and arrows. She and her companions then removed their cloaks, identifying themselves as members of "The Doomed," the stranded descendants of Jedi and Dark Jedi veterans of the Hundred-Year Darkness who had reconciled and relocated to the South Pole. Their leader was a S'kytri woman named Kaliska and her followers included a male Wookiee, a male Ithorian, and a female Chagrian. She explained that her people shared Kesh with the Sith tribe before explaining that her people were known as "The Doomed" and that the two travelers were now "doomed" as well.

Following the capture of Spinner and Takara, Kaliska and her group detained the remaining crew members of the Southern Star and confiscated the vessel. The prisoners were transported to the main settlement on Eshkrene, home to the descendants of the Jedi and Dark Jedi veterans. The settlement featured a prominent tower. While traversing the streets of the settlement, Spinner and Takara were surprised to encounter individuals from various species, including Rodians and Twi'leks. The Lost Tribe castaways were predominantly Human, and members of other species aboard the expedition had gradually perished through violent or natural causes.
They were also taken aback by the absence of Keshiri slaves. Spinner correctly deduced that the Doomed had constructed the settlement themselves. Spinner also attempted to flirt with Takara, but she rejected his advances and reminded him to address her as "Takara" rather than "Red." She also threatened to sever his hand if he touched her again. However, Spinner pointed out that she no longer possessed her lightsaber, as their captors had confiscated it. Spinner also sensed that while the dark side was potent on Eshkrene, it was not discernible in the people. Takara simply replied that it was too cold for people to perceive anything in the Force. However, she agreed that the inhabitants were null. Nevertheless, both Humans sensed a power surrounding them and desired to possess it. Takara then noticed a dagger wielded by a Twi'lek member of the "Doomed."
The two Humans then attempted to escape from their captors. Spinner engaged in combat with several members of the "Doomed," even striking a Rodian in the head. Meanwhile, Takara attempted to flee back to the ship and alert the Lost Tribe to the presence of the "Doomed." However, both were quickly disarmed and separated. Kaliska, possessing wings, personally intervened and seized Takara by her arms, carrying her on a flight across the city. The older woman reprimanded Takara for her actions and reminded her that Eshkrene was a place of peace. She then introduced herself as the leader of the Doomed and explained that the remaining Keshiri crew were already in their custody. Takara expressed her surprise that the winged S'kytri woman had used the Force to lift her into her arms. Kaliska admitted to possessing Force abilities but stated that she derived no pleasure from using them. After explaining the identity of the "Doomed" to both Spinner and Takara, she led them to the Hall of Regret, which chronicled the history of the Doomed.
There, Kaliska explained to both Humans that they could not permit the Tribe's explorers to discover Eshkrene. However, she reiterated that they could not allow any harm to befall Takara or her "protector" Spinner. Kaliska was unaware of the strained relationship between the two Humans, and Takara took that as an insult. Meanwhile, Spinner expressed his astonishment at the abundance of metal on Eshkrene and criticized his captors for wasting it on lanterns. The Twi'lek guard replied that while the light itself held no intrinsic value, the value lay in what the light revealed. He then explained that the lights were known as glowbacters and revealed images sketched onto the ice murals on the walls. These murals documented the history of the Doomed. As a local custom, all members of the Doomed gathered every day or night to commemorate their original landing on Kesh in the aftermath of the Hundred-Year Darkness and the exile of the Dark Jedi into the Stygian Caldera. As the leader of the Doomed, Kaliska recounted the historical origins of the community to her two Human captives.
Following the defeat of the Dark Jedi at the Battle of Corbos, which marked the end of the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Dark Jedi were exiled to Korriban, a world within the Stygian Caldera inhabited by the red-skinned Sith species. There, these Dark Jedi established themselves as Sith Lords, dark side wielding dictators who ruled the Sith. Several of these new Sith rulers, including the former Baron Remulus Dreypa, decided that it was time to exact revenge on the Jedi Order and the weakened Galactic Republic. They then assembled a strike force, gathering their new armies and their twisted Sith beasts. Those Sith Lords left their recalcitrant brothers behind them and ventured out of the Calder. But Dreypa and his forces came across a Jedi patrol composed of Corbos veterans looking for the Exiles, to make sure that they were unable to try to seek revenge on the Jedi and Republic. After a pursuit across the galaxy, the Jedi and Sith ships crash landed on Kesh, where the space battle became a tremendous clash of lightsaber and Force-powers.
Unable to call for reinforcements due to the strange magnetic field of Kesh, the Jedi and their former brothers fought with a unparalleled ferocity, devastating the planet by using all the weapons at their disposal. But, horrified by the extent of damage and the impact of their conflict on the planet and its inhabitants, both sides formed a truce and the Sith sealed, into one of his own oubliettes, their darkest weapon, Dreypa himself. Seeking atonement, the Jedi and the Sith dedicated themselves to find the true neutrality between Dark and Light sides of the Force, settling at the south pole of the planet, in Eshkrene, where they formed a new community, "The Doomed". For thousands of years, the Doomed and their descendants watched over Kesh and the Keshiri, mounting guard initially on the prison of Remulus Dreypa and later monitoring the influence of the Lost Tribe of Sith on Kesh.

Takara deduced that the Keshiri legends of the Protectors and Destructors during the Great Calamity actually described the conflict between the Jedi and their Dark Jedi counterparts. She explained to Kaliska that the Lost Tribe had merely appropriated this story to legitimize their rule over the Keshiri. After Kaliska revealed that the Doomed had been spying on the Lost Tribe for generations, she praised Takara's father, Varner Hilts, for bringing peace to Keshtah and protecting the Keshiri people. While Takara began to empathize with the Doomed and understand their experiences, Spinner maintained a nonchalant attitude and criticized the Doomed for not utilizing their "Great Weapon."
He further provoked his hosts by squatting on their sacred reliquary, a large stone table. Spinner's eagerness to see the "Great Weapon" prompted Kaliska to order the other members of the Doomed to imprison him with the remaining crew of the sailing ship Southern Star. While Kaliska remained undecided about the fate of the Sith captives, she was unwilling to allow the two Humans and the Keshiri crew to return to Keshtah, as they sought to conceal all evidence of their existence from the Tribe. Since they could not join the Doomed, Kaliska had planned to execute them as any other "natural predators."
However, Kaliska chose to spare Takara's life because she sensed that the female Sith was more receptive to learning about the Doomed than Spinner. Kaliska took Takara on a tour of Eshkrene's farm, where various livestock were kept. As Spinner was led outside, he denounced Takara as a traitor to her tribe. Takara retorted that he would enjoy prison, as that was where he belonged. Unlike the Lost Tribe's prisons, the Doomed's prison on Eshkrene lacked any bars or restraints. It consisted of a dilapidated building guarded by at least three archers. Spinner and his fellow Keshiri inmates were also not bound in restraints but were only confined to the prison. Within hours, Spinner devised an escape plan, determined to acquire the "Great Weapon" for himself. He also fashioned several minlohku blades from a glass lantern. While the guards were focused on the horizon, Spinner killed them with his minlohku blades and stole their metal daggers.
He quickly surmised that the "wing-woman" had hidden the "Great Treasure" at the summit of the citadel in the center of the settlement. He used the Force to leap over several buildings, evading the notice of other "Doomed" citizens. He then used the Force and his stolen metal daggers to scale the tower. While Spinner managed to reach the top of the tower safely without attracting attention, he regretted not taking the stairs. Spinner managed to enter the chamber through a narrow alcove. The "Great Treasure" was in the room and was guarded by two sentries, including a male Weequay and an unidentified red-skinned alien. Given their remote location, they were not expecting intruders and were therefore not on high alert. Consequently, they were unprepared when Spinner entered through the alcove and attacked. He used one of his daggers to incapacitate both sentries. Spinner then discovered that the treasure was a sealed black oubliette.
Realizing that it was too heavy to carry down on his own, Spinner decided to free the remaining crew from the Southern Star to help him transport the oubliette back to the ship. As he departed, the wounded Weequay guard pleaded with him not to steal the oubliette and release its dangerous prisoner, but Spinner disregarded the man's pleas. He assured them that he was not going to unleash the oubliette on them but was rather going to use it to settle scores with people back home. After freeing the Keshiri crew, they returned to the tower and stole the "Great Weapon." Spinner and the Keshiri crew were able to steal the "Great Weapon" and escape to the harbor unnoticed since the city was in morning meditation. Due to its heavy weight, they had lowered it down the tower onto a sledge. At the harbor, the "Death Spinner" and his Keshiri allies were able to overpower the token guard force and escape Eshkrene on the Southern Star.
By the time the Doomed discovered the theft, the Southern Star was already sailing towards Keshtah. Kaliska and Takara only learned of Spinner's escape after other sentries who stumbled upon their incapacitated comrades in the tower had raised the alarm. Takara quickly realized that Spinner was planning to use the "Great Weapon" to destroy the Lost Tribe and revealed that she had been pursuing him for years. Kaliska and Takara then pursued Spinner, with the winged Kaliska carrying Takara under her arms. Kaliska wanted to bring Takara along to reason with the young outcast, but Takara simply wanted to beat him to death. Meanwhile, other Doomed warriors were also dispatched to the harbor. While sailing through several ice flows, Kaliska and Takara caught up with the Southern Star. By then, Spinner was boasting to the crew about his plans to take over the tribe when one of his crew spotted the approaching winged woman and Takara.
Before they could fire explosive shells at them, the "Doomed" leader and Takara had already landed on the deck. Takara confronted Spinner and tried to convince him that the oubliette had been sealed for a good reason. However, Spinner was unmoved by Takara and reiterated that he was no longer a slave of the Tribe and refused to take orders from anyone. He exclaimed that there was no weapon he could not use and added that he was not afraid to see what even the "Great Jedi" were so afraid of. Despite objections from both Takara and Kaliska, Spinner took a hammer and smashed the oubliette's cover open. This triggered a small explosion which unleashed a cloud of gas. Through his actions, Spinner had freed the dreaded Sith Lord known as Baron Remulus Dreypa, one of the early founders of the Sith Empire. After Lord Dreypa introduced himself, Spinner and the Keshiri crew immediately pledged their loyalty and fealty to the Sith Lord. Outnumbered, Kaliska and Takara were forced to surrender and were taken below the deck where they were imprisoned in the ship's hold. During their voyage back to Keshtah, Kaliska ceased resistance and entered into a state of perpetual meditation. In contrast, the Sith princess Takara fought against her captors and had to be restrained in chains.

After a journey of several days across the Southern Ocean, the Southern Star made its way to Keshtah, arriving at the port town of Eorm, which was also Spinner's birthplace. During their time at sea, Spinner and Lord Dreypa became close, with Spinner sharing the history of the Lost Tribe of Sith and their empire. The Sith Lord was taken aback to learn that a whole Sith civilization had flourished on Kesh during his long imprisonment. Expressing his gratitude to the Sith rebel for his liberation, Lord Dreypa vowed to exact revenge on the descendants of the Dark Jedi who had kept him captive. Having been in stasis for so long, Lord Dreypa's memories were slowly returning, but his full powers remained out of reach. Spinner revealed to Lord Dreypa that Eorm was his hometown and suggested its destruction as a demonstration of the Sith Lord's abilities. Dreypa agreed to obliterate the town, but first, he had to deal with Kaliska and Takara, his two prisoners. Lord Dreypa chose to spare Takara Hilts because her father led the Lost Tribe, believing she could be a valuable asset in future negotiations.
Reaching the outskirts of Eorm, Dreypa sensed the town's fear and decided to use it to showcase his powers to his new allies and captives. The townspeople had failed to meet the sailcloth quota for the Lost Tribe's fleet of wooden ships. As a consequence, the local Sith Lord Galathos ordered his troops to set fire to several homes. When a Keshiri local pleaded for mercy, explaining the town's tireless efforts, Galathos used the Force to choke him, adding that the reformist Grand Lord Hilts was too far away to intervene. However, Lord Dreypa interrupted Galathos, killing him with powerful bursts of Force lightning.
Dreypa then employed the Force to conjure flames, incinerating Galathos's soldiers. Following this display of power, Spinner rallied the crowd of slaves, who were stunned by Dreypa's abilities, declaring that the Tribe's leaders in Tahv had failed them and that this new Sith Lord would fight for them against their oppressors. However, Dreypa cut Spinner off, informing the crowd that he was fighting for no one and had no intention of staying on Kesh. The Sith Lord berated the onlookers for straying from the true Sith path but promised to overthrow the tribal leadership, whom he criticized for their complacency and exploitation. Dreypa also pledged to return to the stars, which he claimed as his domain. Finally, the Exiled urged the townspeople to join him in seeking revenge against their former tormentors. Dreypa's call to "break their chains" had a captivating effect on the people of Eorm.
Among the crowd were Spinner's old adversary Takara and the S'kytri Doomed leader Kaliska. Kaliska cautioned the Sith princess against underestimating Dreypa's powers, recalling that he had once threatened the entire planet. However, Dreypa overheard their conversation and recognized the winged S'kytri woman as a descendant of the Dark Jedi who had betrayed him and imprisoned him. Dreypa revealed that he had survived his imprisonment for millennia thanks to an amulet given to him by his rival Sorzus Syn on Korriban, intended to trap his spirit. However, Dreypa had altered the amulet to aid his survival. Although his memories were still fragmented, Dreypa remembered that he was searching for something. He questioned Kaliska about whether her people possessed it, but she feigned ignorance, claiming to be solely concerned with the well-being of the Keshiri natives.
Dreypa then boasted that his campaign would not end in Eorm and that the Lost Tribe would eventually serve him. However, Takara retorted that this was her Tribe's home and they would resist him. Dreypa insulted Takara by threatening to kill her father, Grand Lord Varner Hilts, whom he dismissed as a "fool." Meanwhile, Spinner, Dreypa's new "partner," went to the guardhouse in Eorm to retrieve the lightsabers of the deceased Sith. Returning to the village, Spinner presented one of these lightsabers to Dreypa. In return, Dreypa bestowed the title of Sith Lord upon Spinner and instructed him to distribute the remaining lightsabers to his newly formed peasant army. Dreypa then announced their march on the Tribe's capital, Tahv. Takara criticized Spinner for betraying his people and collaborating with an enemy. However, Spinner rejected her accusations, disowning the Tribe as his people and declaring his allegiance to the Exiled to overthrow the ruling elite.
Takara then attempted to insult Spinner by suggesting that Dreypa would claim all the glory for himself. She told him to return to Dreypa's side, belittling him as a mere slave who had simply changed masters. Dreypa viewed the Sith princess Takara as a valuable hostage to use as leverage in negotiations. He ordered two Keshiri guards to take Takara and Kaliska into custody. However, the Sith princess had secretly acquired two lightsabers and swiftly defeated her captors once they were out of sight. Kaliska then persuaded Takara to return with her to Eshkrene and rally the Doomed to counter Dreypa's plans. The two women escaped, taking all the uvaks of Eorm with them, depriving Spinner and Dreypa of an "air force." Meanwhile, the Lost Tribe, informed of the Eorm insurrection but unaware of Dreypa's presence, gathered its warriors under the command of Varner's wife Iliana and marched against Dreypa and his followers in the Marisota Floodplain, a vast plain that had witnessed numerous battles between rival Sith Lords. Grand Consort Iliana initially dismissed the Eorm incident as a minor slave rebellion but expressed concern over the large numbers and organization involved.
During the Battle of the Marisota Floodplain, Dreypa and Spinner eliminated many of their Sith opponents. Spinner seized the opportunity to settle old scores for real and imagined grievances. While Dreypa used Force lightning to kill several opponents, Spinner cruelly stabbed an enemy Sith warrior in the chest with daggers. As the man bled to death, Spinner declared that he had returned to teach him a "history lesson" that some would find more exciting than others. However, the battle's momentum shifted when the Grand Consort deployed her air forces, the Skyborn Rangers, who decimated much of Dreypa's untrained peasant army with their glass daggers. Facing defeat, Dreypa scolded Spinner for not bringing uvak steeds. However, Spinner explained that their army lacked skilled riders and that learning to fly an uvak took several months.
Spinner suddenly remembered that the guards with their two hostages had not caught up with the main army. An argument erupted between the two commanders when Spinner argued that their forces had advanced too quickly. However, Dreypa remained unconcerned and expressed his impatience to reach the capital Tahv and leave Kesh. Despite his memory loss, Dreypa finally recalled the existence of the Leviathans and ordered his surviving troops to follow him to the Sessal Spire, a large volcano located on a peninsula southwest of the battlefield. The Lost Tribe's commanders observed their retreat, and Iliana gloated that the enemy was walking into a trap since the volcano was a dead end at the edge of the continent Keshtah, overlooking the Southern Ocean.
After some travel, Spinner and Dreypa arrived at the volcano's molten crater. By this point, Spinner began to doubt Dreypa's sanity and attempted to negotiate his surrender with Iliana and the other Lost Tribe pursuers. The Grand Consort immediately recognized Spinner as the man who had tried to assassinate her husband in Tahv. Spinner, however, tried to remain cheerful and offered to make a deal with the Tribe, claiming that his leader had gone insane. Spinner cheekily remarked to Iliana that her husband Varner would have dismissed his involvement in the uprising as another prank gone wrong. However, Iliana refused to offer any quarter to the young anarchist and threatened to throw him into the lava after they had killed the ringleader.
Iliana then turned her attention to Dreypa, who insulted her for marrying a "doddering old man." He offered Iliana the chance to become his new consort, claiming to be a true Sith with "real" power. However, Iliana rejected the offer, expressing her preference for Varner and stating that he had no delusions of grandeur. Iliana dismissed Dreypa as a mere slave who had learned a few Force tricks and donned a ridiculous outfit. She then ordered her troops to throw Dreypa and Spinner into the molten crater. However, Dreypa used his talisman to awaken three fully grown Leviathans. These ancient Sithspawn, developed during the Hundred-Year Darkness, were infamous throughout the galaxy. The Sith Lord had stolen them from his rival Sorzus Syn's laboratory on Korriban.

Having awakened his Leviathans, Lord Dreypa instructed them to kill all the Sith present, regardless of their allegiance. Spinner and Iliana barely escaped with their lives as the massive monsters began using their tendrils to snatch Sithlings. The Leviathans then drained the life energy from their prey, leaving behind shriveled husks. The Leviathans also absorbed the knowledge of their prey, enhancing their hunting abilities. Spinner tried to save himself by begging his former ally for mercy. However, Dreypa rejected Spinner's pleas, stating that he had no allies and that his so-called allies had betrayed him centuries ago. Dreypa declared that the Leviathans were all the help he needed. Amid the feeding frenzy, Dreypa and his Leviathans were attacked by the "Doomed," who had flown across the Southern Ocean from Eshkrene on their uvak steeds. Kaliska led the attack, ordering her warriors to target the Leviathans' blister traps and urging them to fight for their purpose.
Dreypa unleashed Force lightning on the attackers. At that moment, Spinner seized the opportunity to abandon Dreypa. However, his old enemy Takara spotted him and flew her uvak towards him, knocking him to the ground. She declared that this was retribution for betraying his people to the Dark Jedi enemy. Spinner retorted that the Tribe was not his people and tried to provoke Takara by claiming that she was a slave to her parents. During the duel, Spinner drew several glass daggers, while Takara activated her red-bladed lightsaber. However, Takara dodged his blades and kicked him in the face, knocking him down. Pinning Spinner to the ground, Takara announced that the tribe had found him guilty and was about to execute him with her lightsaber. However, she was distracted by the cries of her mother, who was in the grip of a Leviathan.
Takara rushed to save her mother, hacking at the monster's tendrils. However, she was also captured by the Leviathan. At that point, Spinner intervened and attacked the Leviathan, puncturing its blister traps with his daggers. A freed Takara threw her lightsaber to Spinner, who used it to slay the Leviathan. Takara was shocked that Spinner had chosen to help her, considering she had been about to kill him. Spinner explained that while he did not care about helping her, he had ambitions that did not involve the Leviathans destroying his society. While Spinner and Takara had saved Iliana Hilts's life, the Leviathan had aged her, transforming her from a young warrior queen into an old woman. Spinner explained that the Leviathans stole their victims' life force, but they had managed to stop it before it was complete.
The Doomed kept the Leviathans occupied, allowing the three Humans to escape the battlefield before more Leviathan larvae hatched. Takara and Spinner loaded the weakened Grand Consort onto an uvak. By this time, Dreypa had gained the upper hand over the Doomed using Force lightning and the Leviathans' power. One of his Leviathans captured a Rodian member of the Doomed in its blister trap. As the Sith Lord commanded the Leviathans, he absorbed their knowledge and learned that the Doomed were descendants of the Jedi and Dark Jedi who had imprisoned him. He knew that the Doomed had vowed never to wage war near the Keshiri, but they had broken that rule to stop him. At that moment, Dreypa recalled that his ancestors had hidden a Last Hope beneath the Keshiri Burial Cairns in Tahv.
The sole Sith survivors of the Sessal Spire onslaught were Spinner, Takara, and Iliana. The S'kytri woman Kaliska was the only survivor of the Doomed on Keshiri, as most of her brethren had been slaughtered by Dreypa's Leviathans. While Takara guided the uvak carrying her mother, Kaliska spoke briefly with Spinner. As Dreypa's Leviathans were too strong for the Doomed and he was rapidly learning their secrets, Kaliska suggested combining their forces with the Tribe's remaining troops. However, Spinner dismissed the idea, believing that the Tribe's leadership would see her as a freakish alien, similar to the Leviathans. While Takara's mother Iliana could have led the Tribe's forces, she was weakened and had to be flown back to Tahv on her uvak, where she hoped the Tribe's sages could heal her.
Kaliska suggested to Takara that as a Sith Princess, she was in a position to lead her troops. She reminded Spinner and Takara that Dreypa had to be stopped, as he would threaten the wider galaxy if he ever escaped offworld. Spinner interrupted, asking the S'kytri woman if the "business about the stars" was just poetry. Kaliska replied that she was not interested in the Human youth, as his actions had unleashed Dreypa's threat. While she saw Spinner's cowardly nature, she was surprised that he stayed with them. Spinner then asked Kaliska about her earlier comment about her people not leaving, even though they could use the Force. He and Takara had assumed she meant the Doomed could not leave the South Pole, but he concluded that they had not left the planet, even though they had a starship.

Takara overheard their conversation and asked Kaliska about it. Kaliska confirmed that a single Last Hope had survived the Great Calamity for centuries, but her ancestors had hidden it within the Keshiri Burial Cairns beneath the Circle Eternal, the center of the Tribe's government on Kesh. They had preserved the spacecraft because destroying it would have alerted the Lost Tribe to their presence. Now that Dreypa had extracted the memories of the slain Doomed members, he had remembered a way offworld. To prevent Dreypa from taking the starship and threatening the galaxy, Kaliska stressed that the vessel had to be destroyed. It had been the Doomed's last hope of escaping the planet, but it would be dangerous in the wrong hands.
Kaliska explained to the two Human Sith that she could not enter the chamber because it was too narrow for her wings. Takara was reluctant to enter the catacombs, as it would take days. However, Spinner had entered the cairns in less than a day and was deemed the most suitable person. As a former grave robber, Spinner knew how to reach the Last Hope quickly. Takara convinced him to return to Tahv with her mother and their uvak, presenting it as a chance for him to redeem himself. While Kaliska hesitated to trust Spinner, Takara persuaded her to accompany Spinner and Iliana, while she remained behind to stop Dreypa, remarking that as a Sith, she refused to be controlled by fate. At that moment, they were attacked by one of Dreypa's Leviathans.
Spinner and Iliana escaped on their uvak. As Spinner had never ridden an uvak, he had to learn to control it. Kaliska could not join them, as she was captured in a Leviathan's tendrils. Takara tried to save her, but it was too late, as the beast had drained her life energy and information. While Takara stayed behind to delay Lord Dreypa, Spinner and Iliana arrived in Tahv. News of Dreypa and his Leviathans had spread to the Tribe's seat of power, causing fear and panic. The Tribe rallied all its forces, including Sith, Keshiri, and slaves, to meet this new threat. Iliana was taken by a court official to her husband Varner, who was shocked by the effects of the Force-induced aging on his wife.
After the tenders took the uvak back to the palace stables, Spinner slipped away and entered the burial cairns. He quickly navigated the catacombs and found the Last Hope. However, he broke his promise to Kaliska and activated its engines, intending to escape Kesh by entering hyperspace. The starship leveled part of the palace courtyard as it ascended into the skies above Tahv. Varner and Iliana witnessed his departure, and Varner sensed a change in Spinner's plans. The Last Hope's escape from the Tahv burial cairns damaged several buildings. Keshiri observers saw the Last Hope as a great metal monster with a great eye guided by a man, who was Spinner.
As he was unfamiliar with the ship's controls, Spinner accidentally crashed the vessel into Tahv's waterworks, disrupting the city's water supply. The starship's autopilot system activated and initiated its audio interface, adapting to the Tribe's dialect of Basic. With autopilot engaged, the ship's computer asked Spinner about his course selection. He chose to go into space above Kesh, and the Last Hope complied, emerging in the atmosphere. Spinner saw the vast expanse of the Kesh system and marveled that the starship enabled him to see more of his homeworld than even the Sith Founder Yaru Korsin's ancient maps had allowed the Tribe to see. Spinner realized that Grand Lord Varner was right to send out explorers to explore Kesh.

Having escaped Kesh, Spinner decided to test the ship's hyperdrive system, and the ship's computer loaded its library of hyperspace coordinates and displayed a wide range of destinations. Spinner initially thought Kaliska had been wrong to order the ship's destruction, believing it was wasteful not to use its powers. As he was about to order the ship to jump to Coruscant, he was interrupted by Dreypa, who used his holo-emitter to activate the ship's hologram system. The Dark Jedi commented that Kaliska had been right to distrust Spinner, denouncing him as a sniveling slave who had stolen something he wanted. Dreypa explained that Kesh's magnetic field limited the Last Hope's range, allowing him to transmit his ultimatum via his holo-emitter.
Dreypa threatened to use his Leviathans to destroy Tahv unless Spinner returned the Last Hope. However, Spinner remained defiant, claiming he did not care about his tribe, as they had marginalized him since birth. Dreypa then presented Takara Hilts, his former foe turned unlikely ally. Hilts was held captive by one of Dreypa's Leviathans after he had defeated her in combat. After reading Kaliska's memories, Dreypa found that Spinner secretly loved the Sith princess. On the ship's intercom, Spinner tried to downplay his affection for Hilts, claiming they were enemies. However, Dreypa did not believe him, knowing that Spinner had saved Takara by helping bring home her mother.
Dreypa was disgusted that the "Sith" Tribe on Tahv cared about other beings, contradicting the Sith credo that adherents should only care about power. Dreypa offered to trade Takara and Kesh for the ship, instructing Spinner to meet them in Tahv in exchange for ruling the planet after his departure. Takara was enraged at being described as Spinner's weakness. In a fit of rage, she told Spinner to leave Kesh, warning him not to return. Dreypa ended the transmission, leaving Spinner to ponder his ultimatum. Ultimately, the Sith outcast was moved by Dreypa's ultimatum and realized the Dark Jedi's destructive tendencies. He realized he could not sacrifice his world to Dreypa's wrath and abandoned his desire to explore the galaxy.
Spinner headed back to Tahv and asked the Last Hope's computer for a quick tutorial on operating the vessel's weapon systems and tractor beam projector. Meanwhile, Dreypa's forces invaded Tahv, laying waste to the city and overwhelming the Tribe's garrison. The aged Iliana Hilts led her Sith Sabers in combat, reminding them that they were the "true Sith" and should fight for the tribe. Back at the Tribe's palace, her husband Varner began moving the Tribe's tomes into the vault. However, a Leviathan broke into the palace and pursued him. The monster was about to devour the elderly Sith Lord when Spinner's Last Hope arrived. Spinner used the ship's tractor beam to drag the Leviathan into the skies and destroyed it with the ship's turbolaser cannons. Spinner also used the intercom to announce to the Grand Lord that he had come to help the Tribe.
Spinner killed several remaining Leviathans by strafing them with his turbolasers. Iliana and one of her Sith Sabers recognized him and saw that he had joined their side. Iliana ordered her men to take cover before Spinner's turbolasers hit them accidentally. Dreypa was furious when he saw his pets being wiped out by Spinner's Last Hope. Soon, he was left with only one Leviathan and his hostage Takara, who was trapped in the beast's tendrils. Dreypa ordered his Leviathan to leap onto a tall building to meet Spinner. The Dark Lord repeated his ultimatum and threatened to murder the Sith princess. However, Spinner remained defiant and told the Sith Lord that he was going to send him back to his coffin in pieces.
At that point, Takara used Force lightning to attack the Leviathan, beheading it. As the beast fell to its death, she and Dreypa leapt onto the hull of the Last Hope. Realizing he had both Takara and Dreypa, Spinner took the starship on a fast spin towards the Southern Ocean. The vessel reached the shores of Keshtah within seconds. Spinner stopped the vessel and hovered over the ocean before opening the cockpit's canopy. He claimed he was ready to deal with the Sith Lord and apologized for destroying his "critters." He offered the Sith Lord the chance to leave Kesh in exchange for letting him rule the planet. However, Dreypa threatened to kill both Spinner and Takara. Before he could, Spinner grabbed Takara and they jumped from the vessel into the ocean.
Spinner had reset the ship's computer to take the vessel on a one-way course into Sessal Spire's caldera. To prevent Dreypa from changing the course, he had locked the program. As planned, Dreypa re-entered the ship's cockpit and strapped himself into the seat. At first, Dreypa gloated over his escape and tried to set the ship on a course for Coruscant, intending to seek vengeance against the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. However, the ship's computer announced that the vessel was set on a one-way course into Sessal Spire's caldera. Dreypa was unable to alter the ship's course, as Spinner had tampered with the controls. Thus, the Dark Jedi was trapped in a metal death trap as the vessel crashed into the volcanic crater. Both the Sith Lord and the Last Hope, the only means of getting offworld on Kesh, were destroyed. Dreypa's death ended a major threat to the Lost Tribe's existence and prevented any knowledge of Kesh from reaching the wider galaxy.

Following their plunge, Spinner and Takara managed to survive, making their way back to the land. Spinner, satisfied with his clever scheme that freed Kesh from Dreypa's menace, boasted that his actions weren't half bad for a novice Sith. Initially, Takara rebuked him for the destruction of the Last Hope, an asset the Tribe could have utilized to escape the planet. However, she then conveyed her astonishment that Spinner, capable of leaving Kesh forever, chose to remain. She questioned his nature as a Sith. Spinner, with a touch of sarcasm, declared himself a mere vandal, emphasizing his expertise in destruction, claiming to be the most accomplished vandal Kesh had ever seen. Through their shared trials and tribulations, the two humans put aside their previous hostility and discovered a mutual love. Later, the Tribe rescued the two Sith, bringing them back to Tahv, where reconstruction was already underway.
Grand Lord Varner Hilts himself expressed his approval of Spinner's choice to prioritize saving Tahv over his personal desire for escape, even at the cost of the only means of leaving the planet. Varner encountered Spinner at the ruined palace site, playfully inquiring if the young man still harbored intentions of killing him. However, Spinner had relinquished his murderous plans against the Grand Lord. He then questioned Hilts about the seemingly coincidental assignment to Eshkrene, wondering if the Grand Lord had suspected the existence of inhabitants in the South Pole. Hilts confessed that he had hypothesized the presence of earlier inhabitants before the Lost Tribe's settlement, as he found the ancient Keshiri's acceptance of his ancestors too easy to explain. Hilts also noted that if the legendary Protectors and Destructors had truly existed, the Tribe would have been no match for their power.
Spinner then questioned why the Grand Lord hadn't sent members of his own Tribe to explore Eshkrene. Hilts clarified that his fellow tribesmen would have exploited Dreypa's oubliette for political advantage, threatening the Tribe. Instead, he had dispatched slaves like Spinner and low-ranking Keshiri explorers to Eshkrene, anticipating that the Sith outcast would misuse his discoveries. However, that would have united the Tribe against him. He admitted that he hadn't anticipated his own daughter Takara accompanying Spinner, but acknowledged that her presence had ultimately benefited the tribe. With the Doomed sacrificing themselves in a desperate attempt to defeat Dreypa, none of the ancient settlers' descendants survived. A subsequent exploration team sent by the Tribe to Eshkrene found little remaining of their settlement, which had been preserved only by their collective Force will.
Spinner confided in Hilts that he had hoped the Doomed had left behind another starship. However, Varner disagreed, believing the Tribe was not ready for interaction with the wider Galaxy due to their internal divisions. Previously, Iliana had managed the Tribe's various factions, but her weakened condition prevented her from continuing in that role. Due to the recent political upheaval, the Grand Lord now required an agent to act on his behalf. He favored a political outsider like Spinner, who lacked ambitions of succeeding him. Instead, Spinner would become the Grand Lord's Hand, his personal enforcer. Initially, Spinner hesitated, unwilling to become someone's slave and support a system he opposed. However, Hilts persuaded him that as a Sith, Spinner belonged to the Tribe and that his destiny lay with them.
He also commended Spinner's family for their contributions to bringing them closer to the stars through their intricate tapestries. While other Sith families had been engaged in infighting for a millennium, he argued that Spinner's family had been productively engaged. The Grand Lord remarked that a spinner like Hilts knew how to weave disparate threads into a strong rope, believing this to be the youth's destiny. Sensing Spinner's desire to rule the Tribe, he urged him to ensure its survival so that he could eventually seize control.
Following the meeting, Spinner was joined by Takara Hilts, his former enemy turned lover, who expressed surprise that he hadn't been imprisoned. By this time, the Sith princess Takara had bathed and changed into fresh clothing. In contrast, Spinner remained in the same clothes he had worn for days and hadn't cleaned himself. Spinner joked about being fortunate that the planet lacked sufficient metal for chains and explained that he had been tasked with overseeing the rebuilding efforts. Hilts expressed her satisfaction that he had found something he enjoyed.
During a private conversation in the palace gardens, Spinner revealed that the Grand Lord had offered him the position of his new Hand, an offer he needed to consider. Hilts explained that her father had previously offered her the same role, which she had declined. She also cautioned him to be wary in his dealings with the various Lords, before suggesting that he attend to his personal hygiene by taking a bath. Spinner playfully warned her to respect his newfound celebrity status as the hero who had saved Tahv. The young man was thrilled by the opportunity to work for the Tribe, which would elevate his social standing. The two Hilt parents observed the blossoming relationship between the former adversaries. The Grand Consort Iliana had overheard Varner's conversation with Spinner and was skeptical about appointing an outsider as his special agent, overlooking their own daughter Takara.
Varner reassured his wife that it was likely that both Parlan and Takara would become his personal Hands. Despite the rehabilitation of Parlan Spinner's status within the tribe's hierarchy, it remains unknown if the Grand Lord also made efforts to rehabilitate the social standing of the Spinner family, who had been made outcasts for millennia. It can be assumed that Spinner and Takara would go on to develop a close romantic relationship.

Coming from a background of poverty, Parlan Spinner displayed opportunistic and reckless tendencies. He was always ready to take advantage of any situation or opportunity that would benefit him the most. His decision to side with the Dark Jedi Remulus Dreypa stemmed from a desire to settle scores with the ruling Lost Tribe and improve his own social position. As the climax approached, he contemplated accepting Grand Lord Varner Hilts' offer to become one of the Grand Lord's Hands, an elite secret agent serving the Tribe. Nevertheless, Spinner still occasionally showed a willingness to risk his life to help others. His decision to rescue his former enemy Takara Hilts and her mother Iliana Hilts was driven by both romantic feelings for the Sith princess and his rejection of Dreypa's plan to use Leviathans to destroy his world.
Spinner also demonstrated a strong aversion to tradition and authority, which led him to engage in vandalism and crime during his youth. Spinner's animosity towards the Lost Tribe of Sith originated in his childhood. He blamed the ruling elites in Tahv for reducing his family to a slave status after one of his ancestors Ermon Parrah attempted to steal the Omen centuries prior. This reckless attitude traced back to his pre-teen years when he defaced a statue of the Tribe's founder Yaru Korsin at the age of eleven. By 2974 BBY, this irreverence had escalated into an assassination attempt on Grand Lord Hilts, the theft of the Doomed's "Great Weapon", and the destruction of the Last Hope during the Siege of Tahv.
Despite Spinner's anarchist beliefs and disdain for tradition, Lord Hilts recognized Spinner's potential and chose to spare his life instead of executing him. His wife Iliana disagreed and viewed him as a threat to the Tribe's existence. Later, relations between Spinner and the Hilt parents improved due to his role in saving their lives and the Tribe from Dreypa. During their adventures, Spinner's relationship with Takara evolved from one of mutual hatred to cooperation when faced with a common enemy. Eventually, the couple developed romantic feelings for each other. Spinner was attracted to the Sith princess's beauty, while Takara was grateful to Spinner for saving both her and her mother from being devoured by a Leviathan.
The S'kytri Doomed leader Kaliska considered him an irreverent and opportunistic coward who was willing to switch sides to save himself. While she, Spinner, and Takara agreed to destroy the Last Hope, Kaliska was hesitant to trust Spinner and offered to accompany the Sith anarchist to Tahv. Later, her suspicions proved correct when Spinner attempted to use the starship to escape Kesh. However, his feelings for Takara led him to return to Tahv and stop Dreypa.
Spinner had a hostile relationship with the Dark Jedi Dreypa, who was only willing to use the Sith anarchist to achieve his own goals of escaping Kesh. As one of the original founders of the Sith, Dreypa was self-serving and disgusted that the Keshiri Sith had strayed from classical Sith teachings by caring for others. Dreypa also shared Kaliska's assessment that Spinner was an opportunistic individual who could not be trusted. Dreypa was further disgusted that Spinner had risked his own life to rescue his former enemies Takara and Iliana from death. While Spinner was unable to match Dreypa's dark side powers, he compensated for this with his cunning. In the end, Dreypa died after being lured back into the Last Hope, which then crashed into Sessal Spire.
During his teenage years, Parlan Spinner learned how to wield the shikkar blade and minlohku, the art of throwing glass darts. These martial skills were further enhanced by Spinner's Force-sensitivity. While a dark side user who was the descendant of ancient Sith, Spinner was not known to have received any formal instruction in the Sith ways. However, he was able to wield a Sith lightsaber on a few occasions. It is also likely that he received further instruction after joining the Grand Lord's Hands.
Parlan Spinner was first developed by John Jackson Miller as one of the two major protagonists of the Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith comic series, which debuted on August 8, 2012. This five-issue comic series ran until December 12, 2012. He was also illustrated by Andrea Mutti, inked by Pierluigi Baldassini, and then colored by Michael Atiyeh. He along with the Lost Tribe princess Takara Hilts served as one of the two main point-of-view characters. According to Miller's production notes, he envisioned Spinner as a cross between a vandal and a revolutionary with deluded ambitions of being a "master-criminal." Miller also wanted use Spinner's origins as a slave to explore the Human slave caste within the Lost Tribe's society, which served as a control mechanism for recalcitrant members of the Tribe. Miller surmised that Spinner rejected his calling as a slave while the rest of his family kept on weaving even during the dark ages. He also added that Spinner's decision to return to Kesh despite discovering a way offworld was fuelled by a desire to prove to Takara that he was not who she thought he was. For Miller, defiance was a Sith trait even though it could be used for a benevolent cause.
