The Sith Troopers functioned as infantry components within the Sith Empire's military forces throughout the duration of the Jedi Civil War.
The majority of Sith troopers in Darth Revan's returning fleet consisted of disloyal members of the Republic Army. They were later supplemented by zealous volunteers hailing from subjugated planets. The Sith's unforgiving training regimens eliminated the weak, leading to a highly effective and formidable fighting force. The fear instilled in each trooper not only motivated them in battle but also discouraged them from betraying the Sith a second time.
Certain Sith troopers exploited the fear they inspired and the authority granted by their armor for personal advantage, intimidating civilians and coercing them into fulfilling their demands. Conversely, others perceived their actions as merely fulfilling their duty or held the conviction that the Sith offered a superior form of governance for the galaxy.
Sith troopers were often treated as expendable resources by their commanding officers, akin to battle droids. For instance, when Saul Karath cautioned Darth Malak that bombing Taris to eliminate Bastila Shan would result in the deaths of thousands of Sith soldiers, Malak simply warned Karath against questioning his directives.
Following the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War, many demoralized Sith troopers fell under the control of the newly established Sith Triumvirate, led by Darth Traya, Darth Nihilus, and Darth Sion. During this period, they participated in both the Second Battle of Onderon and the Battle of Telos IV.
The standard Sith trooper armor and helmet featured a reflective silver or white coloration, complemented by black padding underneath, and a visor that concealed the wearer's face. Rank or division was not visibly indicated, although Sith Elite troops and Sith Commandos wore red and/or copper armor for distinction.
The functionality of Sith trooper armor was comparable to that of most other armor types, but its design was specifically intended to instill fear in opponents. The bulky armor casing and the complete obscuring of the trooper's face by a one-way visor created the impression of a faceless adversary. This intimidating effect would be replicated millennia later in the Republic's clone troopers, who, in a twist of fate, later served as stormtroopers for the Galactic Empire, another Sith-ruled empire.
While marooned on Taris during the Sith occupation, a mind-wiped Revan and Carth Onasi pilfered a suit of Sith armor to gain entry into the Lower City and resume their search for Bastila Shan.
Sith assault troopers were clad in silver-gold armor and equipped with both a blaster rifle and a sword. They attempted to board the Ebon Hawk at the Peragus Mining Facility.

Sith commandos were considered elite Sith soldiers, though their specific combat role differentiation from standard troopers remains unclear. They typically wore scarlet red armor and were armed with light repeating blasters. Commandos observed at the Battle of Telos IV during the First Jedi Purge wore silver armor. During the purge, the Sith Triumvirate deployed commandos on Dxun, Onderon, Citadel Station orbiting Telos IV, the Ravager, and at the Trayus Academy on Malachor V.
Sith elite gunners wore copper-colored battle suits. They were often armed with disruptor rifles, which were capable of penetrating personal deflector shields.
Sith heavy troopers were rarely seen heavy-weapon specialists employed by the Sith. They also wore red armor, and they were armed with Heavy repeating blasters. Heavy troopers were only seen in areas of great importance to the Sith war machine, which would seem to imply that their rank was higher than that of standard Sith troopers, or even Sith elite gunners. Revan fought a host of these soldiers during his assault on the Star Forge during the Battle of Rakata Prime.
Sith grenadiers utilized grenades, primarily fragmentation or concussion variants. They also carried blaster pistols. They were also known to use thermal detonators in battle.
Sith wranglers deployed tamed beasts in combat situations. They were utilized in battles where aggressive beasts and sithspawns presented a significant force. During the Second Battle of Onderon, the Jedi Exile encountered several Bomas and a Drexl larva controlled by Sith wranglers, who typically carried light repeating blasters or vibroblades.
Sith Advanced Troopers were possibly an early attempt to make better Sith soldiers in the Jedi Civil War. Some of the more skilled soldiers of their kind, they served on the Star Forge when Revan boarded it. Normally they were armed with ion blasters and standard vibroblades. They wore crimson armor as well.
During the Jedi Civil War, typical Sith troopers were equipped with Sith Assault Guns and Sith sniper rifles for ranged engagements, along with standard stun batons and vibroblades for close-quarters combat. All Sith trooper types were issued vibroblades for melee combat and may have also received Sith energy shields. By the time of the Great Galactic War, Sith troopers were armed with TH-17 blaster rifles.
Non-standard soldiers were generally Sith soldiers who had been promoted or Republic troops of the same class who had switched sides, rather than newly recruited individuals.
