Kathol Republic Senatorial Council

Around 8 ABY, the council experienced fragmentation into numerous competing groups, generally aligning themselves with either the president, Chandra Hobat, or her primary political opponent, Senator Sho'ban Do. While Hobat typically enjoyed the backing of several factions, growing discontent with her strategies, along with the attack against vessels of the Kathol Republic Navy, jeopardized her support. Senator Do headed the larger faction, championing a policy of staying uninvolved in outside affairs. After two corvettes were destroyed by external forces, his views gained traction.

Composed of one hundred fifty-three senators in total, the Council included eleven senators representing each of the Republic's member planets. From among these senators, one was chosen to serve as president. Despite the president's role as the Republic's leader, the Senatorial Council wielded substantial authority, possessing the power to overrule the president's decisions. The Council convened in the senatorial chambers, generally situated on the lunar surface of Dayark.
