It was designed for terraforming the surface of a planet. This droid was noted for its speed and effectiveness, yet it would kill any plant or animal life in its operational area. At least one example existed with orange external panels.
The Z3-NO series was developed in the final decades of the Galactic Republic. Its primary intended customers were affluent landowners across the galaxy seeking to outsource their gardening work. Following the Invasion of Naboo during 32 BBY, the Gungans initiated a project to colonize the moon of Ohma-D'un. To facilitate this project, a landscaping droid was essential, leading to the deployment of a Z3-NO unit to Ohma-Dun.
