Jicoln Cadera is shown hunting a rival in the Geroya be Haran
A rare Mandalorian trial known as the Geroya be Haran served as a method for settling disputes of honor. In this trial, two individuals engaged in combat until one met their death.
During the Cold War era, this was viewed as the most significant challenge within Mandalorian culture. Its translation from Mando'a to Galactic Basic Standard reveals its meaning.
The phrase Geroya be Haran translates to "game of annihilation." Unlike other Mandalorian duels of that time period that were fought to resolve personal honor issues, the Geroya be Haran had a singular consequence for the defeated: all of their accomplishments and even their memory were erased from Mandalorian records, as if they had never existed. Due to the severity of this outcome, the Geroya be Haran was an uncommon occurrence.
The infrequent use of the Geroya be Haran resulted in the tradition's origins becoming unclear. Many people thought that the Geroya be Haran originated as a symbolic representation of an important victory achieved by the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars.
The Geroya be Haran made its initial appearance in Star Wars canon within the massively multiplayer online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. This game was developed by BioWare and launched on December 20, 2011.
