Jenn

Jenn, a female Human pilot of starfighters, held the rank of commander within the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Her life came to an end during a routine patrol mission in the Dreighton Triangle, when a TIE Phantom, a new Galactic Empire starfighter utilizing a cloaking device, ambushed her. The attack damaged her X-wing, causing a fatal collision with the fighter piloted by Ensign Till.

Biography

Born around 25 BBY, Jenn, a female Human, lived during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Sometime prior to 3 ABY, she enlisted in the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a pilot of starfighters, eventually achieving the position of commander.

After the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire was nearing completion of the TIE Phantom, a novel starfighter equipped with a cloaking device that rendered it undetectable to other vessels. As the project approached its final stages, the Empire initiated a series of tests within the space region known as the Dreighton Triangle, using reports of inexplicable occurrences in the area since the Battle of Dreighton during the Clone Wars as a cover. Around this time, Jenn was assigned to lead a flight group consisting of three T-65 X-wing starfighters, including one piloted by Ensign Till, on a patrol mission in the vicinity of the Dreighton Nebula. Initially, the group's sensors failed to register any signs of activity, but Jenn decided to conduct one final sweep before returning to base. Moments later, a TIE Phantom emerged from its cloaked state behind her X-wing and unleashed a barrage of fire, tearing the starboard S-foils from the fuselage and disabling her stabilizer. Losing control of her fighter, Jenn veered to port and collided with Till's X-wing, resulting in the destruction of both fighters and the deaths of both pilots.

Personality and traits

Jenn was a commendable officer known for her bravery, intelligence, and well-developed sense of humor. She shared a close friendship with Till and often engaged in lighthearted teasing with the other pilot. On one particular occasion, Jenn playfully mocked Till's apparent fear of the ghost ship stories associated with the Dreighton Triangle.

Behind the scenes

Jenn's character was conceived for the 1995 video game developed by LucasArts, Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire, where she makes an appearance in the introductory cutscene. Actress Zachary Barton played the role of the character in the game.

The storyboards and scripts created by Rebel Assault II designer Vincent Lee, dated November 16, 1994, included a concise description of Jenn. Although it was not included in the game itself or its accompanying manual, the biography was adapted for use on the LucasArts website. This document was subsequently published in Rob Smith's Rogue Leaders: The Story of LucasArts. The online version of the biography indicates that Jenn was in her late twenties during the game's events, while Lee's original version described her as being "late twenties to early thirties." Lee also noted the individuals he considered to embody each character in the game, selecting actress Holly Hunter as Jenn's representative. An early storyboard depicting Jenn's scene reveals that her flight group was initially named "Gamma patrol," but this designation was omitted from the final version of the game.

Props and costumes that were initially made for the original trilogy of Star Wars films were used during the filming of Rebel Assault II. The flight helmet worn by Jenn was originally created for a Y-wing pilot in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
