Nym

Nym, a Feeorin male pirate captain and also a warlord, commanded the Lok Revenants. He became infamous after stealing and utilizing a Scurrg H-6 prototype bomber, known as the Havoc. His actions eventually angered the Trade Federation, who then contracted the mercenary Vana Sage to apprehend and imprison him. However, Nym managed to escape, only to discover that Sage, having been betrayed by the Trade Federation, wanted to join forces with him to further disrupt the Trade Federation. Adding to their group, the starfighter pilot Rhys Dallows, whose homeworld had been invaded by the Trade Federation, and the Toydarian smuggler Reti also joined their cause. Together, the quartet launched numerous attacks against Trade Federation assets, culminating in assaults on the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo and the destruction of a Trade Federation droid production facility located on Eos. As a result of these actions, Nym received a pardon from the Republic, although he continued his piratical lifestyle.

Prior to the Clone Wars beginning, Nym's forces were attacked by the Trade Federation again, this time in the Karthakk system. With the assistance of Reti, his wingman Jinkins, and Jedi Master Adi Gallia, Nym successfully destroyed several illicit Trade Federation facilities, including a weapons factory producing a biological weapon known as trihexalon. During this period, he clashed with Cavik Toth, a Separatist-aligned mercenary who was responsible for the trihexalon production. Despite this, Nym persisted in his fight against Toth's Sabaoth Squadron and the Trade Federation, eventually reclaiming his base on Lok, which the Trade Federation had seized years earlier. After regaining control, the Feeorin operated from there, continuing into the Galactic Civil War, where he targeted Imperial assets and was considered a sympathizer of the Rebel cause.

Biography

Early life

Nym's birth occurred in the final years of the Galactic Republic, although information regarding his early life is inconsistent. As a male Feeorin, one of the few remaining members of his species, he was orphaned as a young boy and forced to survive on the harsh streets of Lok, a desolate and lawless world situated in the Mid Rim's Karthakk sector. Nym began associating with the various pirate groups that frequented Lok's spaceports, and the tough criminals who raised him shaped his physical abilities and aggressive nature. By adulthood, Nym had developed a reputation as a skilled pilot and mechanic, a formidable fighter, and a gifted strategist. He participated in brutal free-for-all battles in the Blood Pits of Nar Shaddaa, the smuggler's moon, even facing off against a Trandoshan once. After winning one of these contests, Nym received a tattoo, a symbol that was initially meaningless but later gained significance in his life. Having gained considerable recognition and respect within the underworld, Nym eventually formed his own loyal crew of pirates and outlaws and began raiding the busy hyperlanes connecting the Core Worlds. At some point, Nym's left hand was severed at the elbow, and he replaced it with a metallic prosthetic hand.

Nym quickly became a feared figure along the hyperlanes he plundered. Unlike many other pirates known for their cruelty, he always tried to minimize bloodshed during his raids, prioritizing speed and efficiency. In 37 BBY, Nym was approached by Jinkins, a Bith engineer from the Nubian Design Collective and the chief designer of the Scurrg H-6 bomber project. When the project was scrapped and the sole prototype bomber was put into storage, Jinkins, frustrated by the waste of his work, conspired with Nym to steal it. Nym launched a raid on a storage silo on Nubia and successfully stole the experimental craft, which he renamed the Havoc and made his personal fighter. Jinkins also joined Nym's pirate crew, making numerous modifications to the bomber, including installing "bomblet generators." Jinkins became a vital member of Nym's group, as did Kole, Nym's Chadra-Fan first mate and co-pilot, who was an expert in disguises.

Outfoxed

Nym returned to Lok and constructed a stronghold that his pirate crew used as a base of operations for raiding Trade Federation supply lines along the Rimma Trade Route and the Corellian Trade Spine. Nym later stole a cache of experimental Merr-Sonn Munitions Scalphunter prototype weapons from the Trade Federation, but he struggled to find buyers for them despite their value. The Trade Federation responded by hiring Vana Sage, a bounty hunter, to retrieve the weapons and capture the Feeorin. Sage contacted Nym, posing as a well-connected mercenary, and offered to broker a deal for the prototypes with potential buyers. Nym would be paid in stygium crystals, used in cloaking devices, instead of credits. Although this wasn't his preferred payment method, Nym believed the crystals would be easier to sell. Sage arranged a meeting between Nym and the buyers on a derelict space station orbiting Maramere, receiving a substantial payment for her role in the deal.

Before the meeting, Sage assured Nym that only three unarmed individuals would be present on the space station. However, Nym was uneasy because he had never met Sage in person and distrusted her. Therefore, he secretly hid the blasters' power cells on Maramere, storing the coordinates to provide to the buyers if the transaction went smoothly. When Nym, Jinkins, and Kole arrived at the space station in the Havoc, sensors indicated only three unarmed individuals were present. More concerning, however, was the presence of a Trade Federation battleship in the system, which Nym instructed his subordinates to monitor closely. Nym, Jinkins, and Kole docked the Havoc at the space station and unloaded the weapons before meeting Sage's buyers, who appeared to be Senators. Nym briefly considered robbing them but resisted the temptation. Just as Nym began to relax, Sage contacted them from a secure control room, where she was monitoring the situation, and urged them to complete the deal quickly and leave.

The deal proceeded as planned initially, with Jinkins confirming the authenticity of the stygium and his counterpart verifying the blasters. However, Sage became enraged when she discovered the missing power cells and Nym explained the changes he had made to the deal. The buyers, who were actually bounty hunters, informed Sage that they would handle Nym and drew blasters on him and his companions. Nym used the case of stygium to disable one of the bounty hunters and seized his scepter weapon. Kole and Jinkins fled, while Nym fought another bounty hunter, who kicked him in the head. After this, Nym decided to escape. He evaded the bounty hunters' fire and ordered Kole and Jinkins to return to the Havoc. As they ran, Sage closed the hangar doors from her control station, trapping Nym and his crew inside. Nym attacked one of the bounty hunters with his scepter and ordered Jinkins to locate Sage's position, but she activated the station's complement of B1-Series battle droids, and hordes of armed droids entered the hangar, with blasters set to stun.

Recognizing the Trade Federation's involvement due to the use of their droids, Nym assumed they wanted him alive to discover the location of his stolen goods. He fled, but Trade Federation reinforcements quickly arrived, with droidekas surrounding Kole and Jinkins. Sage pleaded with Nym to surrender, promising to spare his crew. Nym believed she would likely kill them anyway, but she promised to send them to Maramere's surface in an escape pod if he surrendered. Nym agreed, vowing to escape and seek revenge on Sage, who had not only captured him but would also receive the Havoc as payment from the Trade Federation. The Feeorin pirate was imprisoned in the depths of the Trade Federation battleship Stockade, sharing a cell with a Neimoidian prisoner whom Nym believed was mute. The Trade Federation attempted to extract the location of Nym's stash without success until they hired Merick and Bavo, two renowned galaxy torturers, to interrogate Nym. The day before their arrival, the Neimoidian began speaking to Nym, asking what information the Trade Federation sought and having him recount the story of his capture.

Capture and revenge

The torturers arrived shortly after. Nym resolved to reveal nothing, enduring the torture while plotting his revenge on Sage. However, Merick and Bavo were actually Jinkins and Kole in disguise, infiltrating the Stockade. Nym was rescued by his loyal crew and set out to retaliate against Sage. Nym returned to the space station where he had been captured, intending to reclaim his ship. Sage was absent, so he waited until she returned from a mission where the Trade Federation had tried to eliminate her. Nym confronted the mercenary at blasterpoint, ensuring she saw the face of the only person who had ever imprisoned him. Sage attempted to tell him about a droid factory on Eos, but Nym was not grateful. Recognizing the potential value of her information, he decided not to kill her. Instead, he imprisoned her in a cell on her own deserted space station after she led him to the Havoc. Nym then returned to his base on Lok.

Once there, Nym planned a raid on a Trade Federation convoy near Lok. He and his forces managed to disable a Trade Federation Superfreighter despite significant Trade Federation resistance. Nym's Revenants fended off multiple waves of Scarab-class droid starfighters and Vulture droid starfighters; even the arrival of a Trade Federation Missile Frigate could not stop the piracy. Trade Federation repair ships attempted to connect with the damaged superfreighter but were driven off or destroyed by the Revenants.

After the superfreighter crashed on Lok's surface, Nym guarded the ship while his crew scavenged its cargo, a droid control transmitter intended for use in the Trade Federation droid army. Once the cargo was secured, Nym provided cover for the pirate craft carrying it, fighting off more droids, including aerial craft and AATs, until the pirates reached Nym's base. Nym was supported by pirates on speeder bikes, but the Trade Federation also sent a freighter to attempt a recovery. The Feeorin pirate successfully defended against the droids long enough for his comrades to escape with the droid control transmitter. However, the Trade Federation responded to the theft by sending an invasion army to Lok, leading to the First Battle of Lok.

Nym's Revenants were deployed to destroy waves of AATs, droid starfighters, and Trade Federation droid bombers targeting his base in a night assault, aided by the base's defenses. Nym also provided cover for his returning scouts, including Jinkins, the last scout to return. The pirates launched several decoy freighters to divert Trade Federation pursuit. However, as more droids approached, Nym evacuated his base, holding off the Trade Federation long enough to plant charges to destroy incoming C-9979 landing craft. Unfortunately, one of the pirate freighters suffered engine damage and was destroyed when it couldn't take off.

Nym, having lost his base and seeking revenge, returned to the station where he had left Sage, only to find that she had been freed by the Toydarian smuggler Reti and a Naboo starfighter pilot named Rhys Dallows. As they all wanted to strike at the Trade Federation, they joined forces and headed for the droid factory Sage had discovered on Eos. First, Dallows and Reti had to eliminate the orbital defenses above the planet. They succeeded and also attacked a small freighter convoy leaving the planet. Once that was done, Nym and Sage proceeded to the surface of Eos.

There, Nym used the heavy weaponry on his Havoc against various targets: the Trade Federation landing pad, command center, manufacturing plant, power station, factory, and an orbital defense cannon. The Trade Federation attempted to stop Nym and Sage by launching Hunter-Seeker droids from droid dispensers and firing on his ship from defensive turrets, but they could not prevent Nym from destroying the facility. The Havoc's bombs were powerful enough to demolish every key building, and Nym was pleased to retaliate against the Trade Federation. However, the four pilots soon realized that there was trouble on Naboo and headed there next.

Hero of the Naboo

Upon arriving in orbit over Naboo, Dallows, Sage, Nym, and Reti launched a strike against a Trade Federation freighter convoy. While Nym and the others engaged the fighters, Reti boarded one of the Trade Federation superfreighters and reprogrammed a wing of Scarab droids to assist his companions. Additionally, he obtained a large cargo of munitions from the freighter and loaded them onto his ship, the Zoomer. Meanwhile, Nym, Dallows, and Sage attacked the rest of the convoy and its escorts, disabling several Trade Federation missile frigates that were trying to stop their theft.

Nym, Vana Sage, and Rhys Dallows all served together to help liberate Naboo.

While Dallows and Reti were occupied with a mission to resupply the struggling Naboo resistance fighters, Nym, alongside Sage, launched an assault on a segment of the Trade Federation's droid forces. These droids were on their way to engage in the Battle of Grassy Plains. The droid army's destination was a Naboo resistance base camp. The Feeorin pirate executed several attack runs against the approaching droids, successfully eliminating Heavy Artillery Guns, AATs, and Scarab vehicles. As the battle neared its conclusion, members of Bravo Flight arrived to provide assistance to the Naboo Resistance, thereby aiding Nym in repelling the final waves of droids.

Although Nym's efforts contributed to the victory, he declined any form of compensation. Despite this, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine personally granted him a pardon. The Naboo people, in turn, gathered a modest reward to express their gratitude for his contributions. Furthermore, he received an offer to join the Royal Naboo Security Forces. Nym declined all of these offers. He briefly accepted a position with the Republic Special Task Force to advise their pirate-fighting patrols, but his desire to return to his former, more perilous lifestyle led him to leave. He separated from Sage and journeyed back to Lok. However, he soon discovered that the Trade Federation had transformed his base into a staging area for their operations within the Karthakk system. Lacking a sufficient crew, Nym realized he couldn't confront them directly, but he vowed to eventually drive them off his planet. Instead, Nym traveled to Bothan Space in search of employment. He informed Sage of his destination and promised to maintain contact, a promise he ultimately failed to keep. He quickly reverted to his old ways, becoming involved in a violent cantina brawl on Commenor and engaging in weapons sales on Sullust.

In the year 24 BBY, which was eight years after the Battle of Naboo, Nym, accompanied by Kole and Jinkins, accepted a job on the Outer Rim planet of Rodia. Jannik the White, the leader of the Rodian Reeven Clan, was engaged in a doomed honor war with Evo the Blue's Cairn Clan, whose forces significantly outnumbered Jannik's. Nym's role, for a fee, was to participate in these battles and hopefully shift the balance in Jannik's favor. Following the final battle, he was to steal the treasures of the Rodian Grand Protector, who would be overseeing the various honor battles. To avoid suspicion from the Rodian people, who would consider such an act a serious offense, Jannik would publicly claim that Nym had betrayed him. Later, away from the public eye, they would divide the stolen goods. Nym devised strategies for each of the battles he participated in, designed to help Jannik's weaker forces achieve victory. However, Jannik frequently ignored these plans, much to Nym's frustration. Eventually, Jannik's clan, along with Nym, Kole, and Jinkins, prepared for a final confrontation with Evo in a desolate desert on Rodia. Nym's two companions would remain as uninvolved as possible. All three were given suits of ceremonial armor designed for Rodians. Nym's armor was too small, and the Feeorin pirate felt foolish as the Rodian armies prepared for battle. Despite this, Nym secretly carried an illegal thermal detonator with him to the battle, as a backup to his ceremonial sword.

As the holocams recorded, the battle commenced, and Nym led Jannik's Rodian warriors towards the advancing forces of Evo the Blue, who directed the Cairn Clan's efforts from his personal speeder. Nym quickly found himself surrounded by numerous small Rodians, but he managed to defend himself using the ceremonial sword provided by Jannik. Before long, Jannik had ventured too far into the thick of the battle, deviating from Nym's plan. Nym instructed him to retreat, but the Rodian refused, allowing Evo's soldiers to isolate him from his own troops. Jannik apologized for not following the plan, but Nym quickly improvised a new one, charging at Evo and overturning his speeder. The vehicle exploded in flames, and Nym assumed Evo had been killed. However, Evo survived and ordered his men to eliminate Nym. Jannik and Nym were surrounded and heavily outnumbered, and Jannik expressed pessimism about their chances of survival. Nym, however, had one last resort: he threw the thermal detonator onto the ground and used a grappling hook to propel himself and Jannik out of the blast radius and onto the Grand Protector's observation platform.

Tackling Sol Sixxa

Nym and Jannik then executed their prearranged theft, with Nym absconding with the Grand Protector's treasure and Jannik publicly denouncing him as a traitor. They later met in secret to divide the stolen goods as planned. Nym pointed out that, once the Grand Protector discovered Jannik's involvement in the robbery, Jannik would become the most wanted individual on Rodia. Consequently, Jannik requested that Nym transport him and his crew off-world. Their discussion was interrupted by the arrival of a female Mere, accompanied by two bodyguards, who had been present with the Grand Protector during the heist. Some of the stolen loot had belonged to her. She identified herself as Loreli Ro, a Mere ambassador, and informed Nym that she wasn't interested in recovering her treasure but in hiring his services. Ro presented her proposition: she wanted Nym to return to Maramere, located near Lok, to assist her people in eliminating the pirate and criminal Sol Sixxa. Sixxa was consistently attacking Trade Federation ships in the planet's oceans, which wasn't inherently a problem. However, Ro and her people were concerned that he might shift his targets or that the Mere would become collateral damage in the conflict between Sixxa and the Trade Federation. Reluctant to return to the Karthakk system, Nym initially resisted the job offer, but he eventually agreed when Ro offered him a payment of fifty thousand credits.

Accompanied by Kole, Jinkins, Jannik, and a significant portion of the Reeven Clan, Nym departed Rodia aboard the Havoc, planning to meet Loreli Ro at a designated location on Maramere. Upon entering the planet's orbit, the Havoc was immediately identified as a threat by the Trade Federation, and Nym's ship was attacked by a number of Vulture droid starfighters. Ro contacted Nym via hologram to complain about his tardiness, but through skillful maneuvering and the use of the Havoc's bomblet generator, Nym managed to defeat the vulture droids and reach the rendezvous point in the coastal town of Point Modie. However, his actions had alerted both Sol Sixxa and Harro Ruuk, the Trade Federation's commander on the planet, to his presence.

Ro contacted Nym and instructed him to land the Havoc on a nearby beach instead of the town's starport, to avoid further attacks from the Trade Federation. Nym expressed reservations, insisting that he could handle any challenges posed by Harro Ruuk and that he would have a better chance of locating Sixxa from the air. Ro explained that they had already attempted similar methods; Sixxa was too well hidden, and the only effective way to find him, she believed, was to use a boat equipped with repulsorlift technology, known as a "cutter," similar to the one used by Sixxa himself. Ro introduced Nym to the Sunrunner, the fastest cutter on Maramere. Due to Trade Federation restrictions, it was unarmed, but Nym planned to utilize the Havoc's bomblet generator. He instructed Jannik to retrieve the generator, the remaining weapons from the Havoc, and the rest of his clan. Jinkins was tasked with boarding the cutter and ensuring its smooth operation, while Kole was assigned to frequent Point Modie's cantinas, eavesdropping on conversations about Sixxa to gather any available information.

Before confronting Sixxa, Nym wanted to assess his capabilities. Therefore, after Jinkins and Jannik completed their tasks, he decided to take the Sunrunner to the location of the latest Trade Federation ship, the Syren, which had been attacked by Sixxa. He intended to examine the wreckage and identify the weapons Sixxa had used. Nym dove down to the wreckage himself, maintaining communication with Jinkins via comlink. By visually inspecting the sunken ship, Nym determined that Sixxa and his pirates had used thermal charges to breach the Syren's hull and armor-piercing blaster rifles to eliminate the Trade Federation's combat droids. Nym eventually discovered a severed protocol droid head, which he believed would contain a recording of Sixxa's attack. As he ventured deeper to recover some of the ship's treasure as payment for his services, he was attacked by a giant relix sea predator.

Knowing he couldn't outrun the creature, Nym devised a plan to defeat it. He secured the wire connecting him to the Sunrunner, sacrificing his prosthetic arm in the process, and instructed Jinkins to accelerate the ship to its maximum speed. This action dragged the relix to the surface, where Jannik's Rodians were able to shoot and kill it. Meanwhile, Nym returned to the ship with the droid's head. While one of Jannik's clanmates bandaged Nym's severed prosthetic arm, Jinkins examined the droid's memory banks but could only retrieve a small amount of information before it shut down. The droid revealed that the Syren had been carrying experimental Trade Federation prototype technology, but provided no further details. Meanwhile, Kole located a survivor from one of Sixxa's raids and brought him to the Sunrunner, hoping he could lead Nym's crew to Sixxa's hideout.

Entering the Haunted Straights

The Mere survivor guided them through the turbulent waters towards the site of his ship's raid, near the infamous Haunted Straits. Anticipating an ambush from Sixxa, Nym had Jannik's clan conceal themselves throughout the ship. As they traveled, Jannik attached a small, functional hand cannon to Nym's arm in place of his destroyed prosthetic. Loreli Ro informed them that the Haunted Straits were a source of great superstition among the Mere, and that legend spoke of a secret paradise island, which Nym believed Sixxa was using as a base for his attacks. As Nym had predicted, Sixxa ambushed the Sunrunner as it navigated the narrow straits, leading a boarding party from his own vessel, the Revenant.

Nym fends off Sixxa's invaders.

Armed with melee weapons, Sixxa's men charged towards Nym, Ro, Kole, and Jannik, but Nym used his hand cannon to hold them back. After Sixxa mocked Nym for attempting to confront him with a small crew, Jannik's Rodians revealed themselves, and blaster fire erupted between them and the Mere pirates. Sixxa had his own traps, releasing swarms of wavespeeders from the Revenant, which surrounded the Sunrunner. The newly installed bomblet generator, operated by Jinkins, eliminated many of the approaching wavespeeders, surprising the Mere, who believed all Mere ships to be unarmed. Sixxa ordered a retreat, but he remained on the Sunrunner himself. He lunged at Nym and severed the Feeorin's hand cannon. As Sixxa retreated to his ship, Jinkins attempted to target the Revenant with the bomblet generator, but it vanished from his scanners; Sixxa was using an advanced cloaking device, the prototype he had stolen from the Syren. As he left the Sunrunner, Sixxa stabbed Jannik, seriously injuring him. Enraged, Nym pursued him.

The Feeorin chased his target into the turbulent Maramere waters. They struggled beneath the surface before eventually washing ashore on an "Invisible Island," covered in stygium crystals. The two clashed, Sixxa wanting to ensure Nym would take the secret of the island to his grave, and Nym hoping to claim the island's riches for himself. However, they soon realized that Trade Federation forces had arrived and were defeating their respective crews. They temporarily joined forces, and Nym devised a plan. Sixxa would return to his ship, where the crews had surrendered, to create confusion and fight off the Trade Federation, who believed him to be dead. Nym would return to the Sunrunner and overload the bomblet generator, ramming the Revenant. Sixxa and his men, able to breathe underwater, would then escape, and Nym could tell Loreli Ro that Sixxa was dead. Everything went according to plan, and Ro paid Nym for his services. Sixxa later contacted Nym, proposing that they join forces. They discovered a shared hatred of the Trade Federation and decided to combine their efforts to eliminate the Trade Federation's presence in the system, rather than fighting each other. Nym agreed to secretly meet Sixxa on the Invisible Island, and they formed an alliance, with Nym asserting his leadership.

Battling on Maramere

Not long before the Clone Wars, Nym and his forces were operating within the Karthakk system. However, while attempting to steal codes to an orbital prison station on Maramere, he and the Revenants were attacked by a number of Trade Federation watercraft and starfighters. Fortunately, his old smuggler acquaintance Reti, along with Jedi Master Adi Gallia, arrived and repelled the Trade Federation craft long enough for Nym's forces to steal the codes and evacuate. Nym was hesitant to trust Gallia, but she convinced him that she was there to investigate illegal Trade Federation activities in the system.

Nym

From there, Nym led the Revenants, Reti, and Gallia to Spacestation 1138, the orbital prison whose codes he had obtained. Fighting through waves of droid starfighters, Nym and his companions provided cover for the Liberator until the larger ship could free Captain Orsai and other members of the Mere Resistance from the prison. Once that was completed, Nym returned to Maramere to plan his next move. Realizing that the Trade Federation had been using a significant sensor station to monitor his movements, Nym decided to destroy it. Escorting a pair of ships equipped with demolition charges, Nym and his group fought through the Trade Federation defenses. Engaging starfighters, Trade Federation U-boats, floating mines, laser turrets, and tractor towers, Nym's forces successfully demolished the sensor station. However, upon its destruction, the Trade Federation leader in the Karthakk system, Harro Ruuk, emerged in a large submersible vehicle, which Nym and his pirates subsequently destroyed after a prolonged battle.

Nym then planned to lead his Revenants, the Mere Resistance, Gallia, and Reti in an attack on a Trade Federation mining facility on Mount Merakan. Before they arrived, Gallia received a distress call from the settlement of Point Modie, which was under attack by trihexalon-based weaponry. Gallia, accompanied by Sixxa and Reti, departed to save the civilians, leaving Nym, Jinkins, and the rest of his forces to target the mining facility and the freighters located there. Despite being defended by numerous starfighters and missile turrets, Nym destroyed the ore extractors and landing pads of the facility, which he believed was used to mine the components used in producing trihexalon. During this time, Nym and the Revenants learned that they were facing Captain Cavik Toth, the leader of the mercenary unit Sabaoth Squadron.

Raids on Nod Kartha

Gallia and Nym then prioritized the disruption and destruction of all trihexalon production facilities. Consequently, they next targeted Nod Kartha, which housed a trihexalon plant. First, they had to penetrate the world's orbital defenses. Bringing in two Mere cruisers, the Kethor and the Tritus, Nym's forces arrived over the planet in force. The Kethor was quickly struck by fire from the defensive platforms, prompting Nym to rally his fighters to defeat incoming Trade Federation droid bombers before they could destroy the Mere Cruisers. Once the bombers were defeated, Nym's forces attacked the orbital defense platforms, hoping to create an opening to access the planet's surface. Even the arrival of several Sabaoth Frigates and their fighter escorts couldn't stop Nym's squadron, and he defeated the mercenaries. However, during the battle, the bounty hunter Jango Fett arrived in pursuit of Reti, who jumped into hyperspace to escape Fett, though the bounty hunter followed him.

Once on the surface of Nod Kartha, Nym led a commando team to assault a series of shield bunkers protecting the trihexalon plant, planting explosives in each one to weaken the shield and make the plant vulnerable. With Gallia and Jinkins providing cover, he destroyed all five bunkers despite waves of Trade Federation STAPs, battle droids, and AATs. At the last bunker, Nym ordered his team to fight to the death to defend the charges they had set. However, Adi Gallia landed her fighter near the bunker and fought her way inside, defending Nym and his pirates to allow them to retreat. The Jedi Master and Feeorin pirate had barely escaped the bunker when it exploded, eliminating the shield and leaving the trihexalon plant open to attack. Nym then returned to the Havoc to launch a final assault on the plant.

Adi Gallia and Nym run from an exploding bunker on Nod Kartha.

Nym used the Havoc to clear the landing pad on the plant, with the help of his gunner, Kole, destroying battle droids and laser turrets, to allow Sol Sixxa to land and enter the plant to open the hangar doors. While Sixxa did so, Nym fended off waves of Sabaoth fighters and Trade Federation dropships that attempted to reinforce the plant's defenses. Once Sixxa opened the doors, Nym flew the Havoc inside to disable a transmitter within the plant. That action exposed five solar reflection towers, which Nym then destroyed to access the plant's reactor core. Nym then destroyed the reactor core with his ship, destroying the weapons plant. After the battle, Adi Gallia left the Karthakk system for Geonosis, having learned that Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi was in danger there. Nym was sorry to see her go, as he had developed a respect for her.

Nym then took the Revenants into orbit of Nod Kartha to salvage parts for an Orbital Defense Cannon. However, a Sabaoth destroyer arrived and began deploying Trade Federation tugs, along with Sabaoth and droid fighters, to seize the cannon. Nym led his fighters in battle once more, destroying waves of tugs and fighters while his own tugs retrieved parts for the cannon and took them back to the Tritus. However, once all the parts were recovered, three Sabaoth frigates arrived in a final attempt to seize the cannon. They, too, were unable to stop Nym and the Revenants from escaping with the cannon.

Reclaiming his base

From there, Nym took the parts of the cannon to Khons, a moon of Lok, to begin re-constructing it. Before he arrived, he learned that several starfighters and the Tritus had failed to reach Khons due to engine trouble. Instead, Nym had Captain Juno of the Tritus send the cannon parts to Khons via hyperspace tug to begin assembly as soon as possible. However, he first had to destroy the Trade Federation presence there, which included capital ship turrets, missile launchers, starfighters, and Trade Federation missile frigates. Nym, Jinkins, and the other Revenants defeated the Trade Federation forces, buying time for the cannon to be assembled. As it neared completion, a Trade Federation cruiser arrived in-system and began firing cruise missiles at the cannon. Nym and the Revenants shot down the cruise missiles until the cannon was ready to fire; the weapon completely destroyed the cruiser.

Nym then led the Revenants down to the surface of Lok to reclaim his base, which the Trade Federation had converted into a refueling station. For this battle, he was joined by his old acquaintance Vana Sage. Nym used the Orbital Defense Cannon to great effect, calling down fire on large Trade Federation targets such as dropships and missile frigates. He then fended off large numbers of AATs and starfighters that emerged from the base to cover three transports carrying a strike team to assault the base. During the battle, Cavik Toth fled the station in his personal fighter and was pursued by Sage, while the Revenants continued their assault. Once the strike team, led by Sixxa, blasted open the doors, Nym flew the Havoc inside to disable the docks. In the final stages of the battle, Lieutenant Bella, Cavik Toth's second in command, entered the fray in her personal craft. Nym and his forces shot her down, killing her. With the end of Trade Federation and Sabaoth resistance, Nym had reclaimed his base.

Upon learning that Toth had taken a fleet of Hex Deployers and Hex Bombers to Geonosis, Nym sent a message to Gallia warning her of the danger. Nym then led the Revenants to Geonosis and assisted Adi Gallia in repelling Toth's fleet. Gallia destroyed Toth's fighter in the battle, resulting in Toth's death and an end to the hex threat. Following the Battle of Geonosis, Jedi Master Mace Windu offered Nym a position as commander of the Karthakk system. He declined, preferring to "keep his options open." However, Gallia accompanied him back to the Karthakk system, and he parted on friendly terms with the Jedi.

Galactic Civil War

After the Clone Wars, Nym became the effective leader of Lok. Over the years, his old base was transformed into a palace, while a small city and spaceport known as Nym's Stronghold flourished nearby. The Feeorin divided his time between governmental duties and piracy, frequently attacking transport ships along the Corellian Trade Spine. While the membership in his organization constantly changed, he retained his two loyal lieutenants, Kole and Jinkins. During this time, Nym was rumored to be willing to offer Jinkins' engineering talents to those who made several smuggling runs for him. Another rumor was that he still possessed a few items left to him by Jedi Master Adi Gallia.

Nym's Palace on Lok.

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, though never overtly choosing a side, he demonstrated sympathies towards the Rebel Alliance. General Otto, who commanded the Imperial forces on Lok, maintained an arrangement with the pirate: Nym's operations were to proceed without Imperial interference, and in exchange, Nym would avoid attacking Imperial assets in the region. This understanding was tested when Commander Oberhaur of the Storm Squadron, stationed on Tatooine, deployed a new recruit on multiple missions to Lok, aiming to disrupt Nym's activities. After the Battle of Yavin, Nym himself violated their agreement on several occasions. He tasked a group of trusted fringers—Vana Sage, Kole, and Jinkins, all previously proven—with stealing a mine filter from the filtration system within an Imperial Mine on Lok. They also conducted a raid on an Imperial Research Facility, successfully retrieving all research data and a quantity of Imperial Military Grade Grenade Casing Units. Furthermore, the pirate lent his support to Lady Viopa's operations, an officer in the Alliance Starfighter Corps, in the Karthakk system, and collaborated closely with the Rebel pilots of Havoc Squadron.

In the year 1.5 ABY, Nym's Stronghold became the destination for Finn Darktrin, an Imperial operative disguised as a Rebel Alliance member, and Dusque Mistflier, a former Imperial biologist who had escaped the Empire. These two individuals encountered the Feeorin pirate at a cantina located on Lok. Nym, owing Darktrin a favor, expressed his approval of Darktrin's choice of companion, remarking that Mistflier was a significant improvement over his previous associate, before inquiring about the purpose of their visit. Darktrin requested a ship to transport himself and Mistflier to the Core Worlds. Nym declined this request, deeming it an insufficient repayment for the favor he owed. However, he proposed a business arrangement: if Darktrin and Mistflier could retrieve a portion of a hyperspace map from corsairs in a nearby camp, Nym would provide the necessary transportation. Darktrin reluctantly accepted the deal, and Nym granted them access to his armory for any needed supplies or weaponry. Soon after, Mistflier and Darktrin returned with the map, having successfully overcome the corsairs. Their arrival at Nym's Stronghold coincided with a recruitment pitch from smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee co-pilot, Chewbacca, who were attempting to persuade Nym to openly join the Rebel Alliance. Nym refused Solo's offer, asserting his intention to remain neutral in the war. Nevertheless, upon seeing Darktrin, he honored his agreement, providing them with a transport and a Mon Calamari pilot named Peralli. Additionally, he supplied the pair with a crate of weapons as a farewell gift before dispatching them towards Corellia, escorted by Solo and Chewbacca aboard their ship, the Millennium Falcon.

On occasion, Nym would venture beyond Lok, traveling to various other planets. Around the time of 1 ABY, he was engaged in business dealings with Kole in Narmle on Rori. A spacer approached Nym with a fragment of an ancient starmap, sparking the Feeorin's interest, as he had previously employed someone to search for the same starmap. Nym commissioned the spacer to recover the remaining sections of the map from locations on Kashyyyk, Dathomir, and finally Tatooine, where the spacer acquired the final piece from former smuggler Han Solo. However, the complete starmap, once assembled, proved to be a forgery, leading to a desolate planet that Nym had already explored. Nym was convinced that Solo was aware of this deception. Enraged, the Feeorin refused to compensate the spacer as agreed, and he and Kole immediately traveled to Tatooine to confront Solo. Some time later, Han Solo returned to Lok with the aim of reconciling with Nym and potentially persuading the pirate to support the Rebel Alliance. The smuggler sought to gain Nym's favor by retrieving munitions stolen from Revenants by the Blood Razor pirates. Solo assembled a team of Rebel operatives who attacked a Blood Razor camp, eliminating the Blood Razor leader Jorund Saleem and successfully recovering the stolen munitions. Furthermore, Han Solo uncovered evidence suggesting that the Blood Razors had received assistance in the theft. The Rebel operatives eventually identified Mahar Spince, one of Nym's henchmen, as the traitor and eliminated him.

Around the same period, Nym hosted a lavish anniversary celebration at his palace, which attracted a large number of attendees. The renowned jizz band Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes were engaged to provide entertainment; an impressive fireworks display was arranged; and complimentary food and drinks were offered to the guests.

Following the Battle of Yavin, Nym's Revenants faced a challenge on Lok from a rival pirate group known as the Sulfur Lake Pirates. Nym's forces initially held these pirates in contempt, but the conflict escalated by 1 ABY after Nym and Vana Sage orchestrated a raid on their hideout. Growing weary of the situation, Nym eventually proposed a truce to his adversaries. A meeting was arranged in Kimogila Town between the two factions, but the Sulfur Lake Pirates betrayed Nym by attacking his emissaries. Despite suffering heavy casualties in the ensuing battle, the Sulfur Lake Pirates remained determined to continue the conflict. Shortly thereafter, a group of Sulfur Lake commandos infiltrated Nym's Stronghold and launched a direct assault on Nym's palace. The seasoned Feeorin pirate and his lieutenants were caught off guard and were forced to fight for their survival. Nym, Vana Sage, Jinkins, Kole, and a group of spacers ultimately eliminated all the attackers, effectively ending the Sulfur Lake Pirates' attempts to overthrow Nym.

Concurrently, Nym had to deal with an uprising within Nym's Stronghold that was triggered by a scarcity of potable water. As the rivers on Lok contained water unfit for consumption, it was essential to filter it. However, when the water treatment facility malfunctioned, the townspeople became discontented, compelling the pirate to dispatch his henchmen to locate replacement parts and repair the water treatment system.

At some stage, Nym's organization established a factory compound on Lok, which served as a secure location to store much of the treasure he had amassed over the years. However, during the Galactic Civil War, the compound was seized by the droid bounty hunter IG-88, who repurposed it for the production of battle droids, until a group of spacers recaptured it and halted production.

Additionally, at an unspecified time, an individual with a grievance against Nym hired a spacer through the bounty hunter Dengar to punish and humiliate the pirate for reasons he chose not to reveal. Attracted by the generous reward, the adventurer accepted the assignment. With the assistance of a team of skilled operatives, the spacer managed to bypass the security measures of Nym's stronghold. The spacer then confronted the pirate leader, who defended himself vigorously. Ultimately, Nym was defeated, but to his surprise, the freelancer spared his life. Instead, the spacer recorded a hologram of the old pirate in a vulnerable position. This holo of Nym helpless was later delivered to Dengar to be handed over to his mysterious employer.

Personality and traits

Nym, like all Feeorin, grew more powerful with age, inspiring fear in many inhabitants of the galaxy with his nature and appearance. His reputation as a formidable strategist and warrior made even the Empire reluctant to challenge him and his organization. Raised by criminals in the Outer Rim, his impoverished upbringing provided him with ample opportunity to hone his tactical skills. The Feeorin pirate was later recognized as a brilliant tactician in his own right, respected for his capabilities. Nym was unafraid to challenge powerful organizations, such as the Trade Federation, or launch raids deep into the Core Worlds. After his capture by Vana Sage, Nym became even more determined to target Trade Federation facilities and vessels. In combat, he was willing to sacrifice himself if he believed the cause was important. While he was unwilling to fight to defend his base when it was captured by the Trade Federation, Nym felt that the destruction of a weapons plant producing trihexalon was worth fighting to the last man for, though he and his demolition team were ultimately saved from a group of battle droids by Jedi Master Adi Gallia.

Nym also possessed a vengeful streak, as demonstrated when he imprisoned Sage, despite her attempts to explain how the Trade Federation had betrayed her as well. He was prone to outbursts of anger during combat, often shouting threats over the communication system when his opponents taunted him—threats that he usually carried out swiftly. He was also a loyal pirate leader, who cared for his friends and comrades. Nym frequently risked his own safety to rescue his assistant, Jinkins, and expressed sorrow at the loss of others, such as the presumed death of Reti at the hands of Jango Fett. However, he harbored a distrust of Jedi, although his suspicion towards Jedi Master Adi Gallia lessened after she helped him liberate the Karthakk system from the Trade Federation. His friendship with Gallia even led him to bring his Revenants to aid her in battling Cavik Toth over Geonosis, although Toth was also a personal enemy of Nym's.

The Feeorin was also fiercely independent. At the start of the Clone Wars, the Republic offered him the position of commander of the Karthakk system, but he declined the offer. In his rejection, Nym stated that he preferred to keep his options open. Years later, during the Galactic Civil War, he rejected another offer, this time from Rebel Han Solo, to join the Rebel Alliance, despite Solo's promises of lucrative rewards and opportunities. However, that did not prevent him from forming temporary alliances with individuals such as Rhys Dallows and even his former enemy Vana Sage in order to strike at the Trade Federation. Nym forged several unlikely alliances throughout his career; he collaborated with Vana Sage against the Trade Federation despite previously hating her intensely, and he joined forces with Sol Sixxa even though the two had been adversaries and had nearly killed each other, as well as members of their respective crews. Ultimately, Nym's hatred of the Trade Federation was far greater than his hatred of any individual.

Nym enjoyed the company of humanoid females he considered attractive and witty, even those from outside his species. He was also willing to honor a debt or a favor that he owed someone, though the extent to which he would return the favor depended on his assessment of its worth. He was also a businessman, willing to make deals with people in exchange for services or tasks that he wanted performed.

Equipment

Havoc

The Havoc, Nym's personal starfighter.

Nym's personal starfighter was known as the Havoc. The prototype "Scrugg H-6" bomber, which would eventually become the Havoc, was manufactured by the Nubian Design Collective at considerable expense. It was designed with the hope of selling an entire line to the people of Naboo. However, the pacifist Naboo had no interest in such a heavily armed fighter and declined Nubian's offer, leading to the project's cancellation. Jinkins, the ship's chief designer, subsequently conspired with Nym to steal the bomber, ensuring that his work would not be wasted, and Nym piloted the Havoc in many of his most famous dogfights.

The Havoc's speed, armor, shields, and onboard systems were all considered impressive, but the ship's powerful arsenal of weapons was what truly distinguished it from other starfighters. Equipped with six forward-facing laser cannons, a powerful rotating laser turret mounted on top of the ship, and the capacity to launch proton bombs, it was among the most heavily armed ships of its size in existence. After Nym's raiders acquired the vessel, they extensively modified the craft. Jinkins installed the experimental and unstable bomblet generator aboard the ship, with two bomblet chutes each holding five bombs; the generator drew power from the main generator to replenish the energy bomb supply over time. It was later upgraded with an advanced version of the bomblets known as the plasma scourge. Jinkins also modified the ship, which was originally designed for a crew of five, to be operated by Nym as the sole pilot.

In later years, Nym added more weaponry to his ship. Shortly before the Clone Wars, the Havoc was equipped with cruise missiles in addition to the bomblet generator, and later also fitted with cluster missiles and proximity mines. These heavy weapons allowed Nym to destroy entire bases or freighter convoys with the Havoc, proving invaluable during his battle against Cavik Toth and the Trade Federation.

Behind the scenes

The pirate Nym made his debut in the 2001 game Star Wars: Starfighter as one of three playable characters. Approximately one month after Starfighter's release, the character appeared in W. Haden Blackman and Jan Duursema's "Single Cell," a short comic published in Star Wars Tales 7 which serves as a prequel to Nym's role in the game. Nym played a more significant role in Starfighter's sequel, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, which was set just before the outbreak of the Clone Wars and featured Nym as one of the game's two protagonists. Prior to the game's release, Nym appeared as the main character in Dark Horse Comics' Starfighter: Crossbones, a three-part comic tie-in to Jedi Starfighter written by Haden Blackman and illustrated by Ramón Bachs. The final issue of the comic was released several days after the game's release. Charles Rocket provided the voice for Nym in both Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. Subsequently, Nym appeared as a non-playable character in Star Wars Galaxies, as well as in a minor role in a spinoff Galaxies novel, Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins ,of Dantooine. In the Galaxies game, Nym's cybernetic hand is shown on his right hand, whereas in other sources it is on his left.

The character also received a figurine in Star Wars Miniatures, as well as an entry in the official Databank. In addition, Nym was mentioned in reference guides such as The New Essential Guide to Characters, The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, and The Clone Wars Campaign Guide. Finally, Nym, along with his powerful bomber Havoc, was featured in Star Wars: Armada, a RTS board game by Fantasy Flight Games, as a unique fighter squadron.
