Dams Denna

Dams Denna was a male of small stature. He resided on the planet of Naboo and his occupation was that of an animal trainer for the Theed Royal Palace. Following the Battle of Naboo in 32 BBY, during the celebratory events, Denna assisted in leading falumpasets alongside kaadu, which were being ridden by members of the Gungan delegation, in a parade through the city of Theed. In addition to his work, Denna was a collector of Linn'con memorabilia.

Biography

By the time 32 BBY had arrived, Dams Denna, a male, had become a well-regarded animal trainer. He made his home on the planet Naboo, and there he worked as a beast handler for the Theed Royal Palace. During the victory celebration that occurred after the Battle of Naboo, Denna took charge of creatures such as falumpasets and kaadu that the Gungan delegation had brought with them, as they joined their Human Naboo counterparts in celebrating their shared triumph over the battle droid forces belonging to the Trade Federation. Denna personally managed the kaadu that was being ridden by the Gungan warrior Jar Jar Binks. When Jar Jar Binks became entangled in the reins of his kaadu after dismounting, Denna provided assistance to help him get free.

Personality and traits

Dams Denna possessed great skill as an animal trainer and herd-master. He was well-known for his aptitude in handling non-sentient creatures. He was also known to collect Linn'con memorabilia. During the celebration following the Battle of Naboo, this diminutive, fair-skinned humanoid had brown hair that reached his shoulders. He was dressed in a green jerkin, breeches, and boots.

Behind the scenes

The animal handler featured in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace was portrayed by Dan Madsen. Madsen was one of several Star Wars fans and employees affiliated with Lucasfilm who were chosen to be extras in the 1999 film's concluding crowd scenes, which were supervised by the assistant second-unit director, Bernard Bellew. At that time, Madsen held the position of publisher for Star Wars Insider magazine and was the president of the Official Star Wars Fan Club. Almost a year before the movie's release, a behind-the-scenes photograph featuring Madsen and fellow actor Kenny Baker, which was published in Star Wars Insider 39, showed Madsen wearing his Theed costume. Out of all the fans and employees who were selected to appear in The Phantom Menace, Madsen's character is the only one that is clearly visible in the final film. Despite this, Madsen's name is not included in the movie's credits.

The Naboo animal handler remained unnamed until the release of Theed Palace Limited, a 2001 expansion for the Star Wars Customizable Card Game published by Decipher. The character's name, "Dams Denna," is an anagram of the name "Dan Madsen."
