The Corellia Star was classified as a YT-1300 light freighter.
The pilot was privy to classified information regarding the Galactic Empire's clandestine weapons initiative, specifically the TIE Phantom. Showing support for the Rebel Alliance, he chose to share what he knew. Upon contacting Dreighton, he attempted to alert a pair of Rebel B-wing starfighters operating within the system; however, Imperial forces boarded the Corellia Star, seizing it and securing it within the Imperial installation on the planet. The pilot was apparently shot during his attempt to send a warning, which suggests that he and the rest of the crew were killed.
The distress signal was not received clearly, so the two Rebel ships moved closer to the planet to investigate. Kirby, the leader, was shot down, but Rookie One managed to escape from his ship before it crashed. Without any other way to leave the planet, Rookie infiltrated the base, fought his way through it, and eventually made it to the Corellia Star. He escaped the base by navigating through mining tunnels and safely delivered the ship to the Alliance fleet.
The pilot's message was then played by Admiral Ackbar. It was revealed that it contained information about secret Imperial operations in the Belt of Arah and Darth Vader's new weapon.
The design of the Corellia Star has a very clear similarity to the Millennium Falcon. The digital model used for the ship was made up of 40,000 polygons.
In the event of a crash by the Corellia Star, a game over scene shows two stormtroopers. The first stormtrooper asks what the noise is, and the second one responds that it is probably just some loose rock or something.
