A blastromech droid
A blastromech droid represented a type of astromech droid that underwent modifications, enabling it to function as a security droid. These blastromech droids saw action during both the Clone Wars conflict and the Galactic Civil War.
In contrast to the typical astromech droids, these specialized units were equipped with a minimum of two blasters mounted on their chassis.
During the era of the Clone Wars, the Separatist forces deployed blastromech droids for defensive purposes at their droid factory situated on Mustafar.
Following the Battle of Yavin, blastromech droids were observed in service with the Death Watch at their bunker located on the forest moon of Endor.
Borvo the Hutt maintained a collection of blastromechs to safeguard his vault on Naboo, as well as protect the Ultragungans within their bunker.
The Rebel Alliance also employed blastromech droids within a prison installation situated inside the hidden Rebel base on Corellia.
Blastromech droids made their debut appearance in the 2003 video game titled Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game which was under development by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before its shutdown on December 15, 2011. The inclusion of blastromech droids in the game occurred through an update launched on May 25, 2004.
