An Alliance recruiter.
Agents of Recruitment were members serving the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Their assignment involved locating individuals who stood against the Galactic Empire and persuading them to enlist in the Rebellion's cause. Given that any potential recruit could be an operative for the Empire, this role was fraught with peril. After several years in the field, even the most skilled agent would inevitably make contact with the wrong person.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic drew its personnel from diverse origins. Typically, those joining the various Sector Forces were brought in via existing underground networks by acquaintances or family already within the SecForce. These recruits were far less likely to be Imperial spies, as they were vouched for by someone who knew them well. Additional Rebel personnel were obtained in large numbers from planets whose governments openly, or secretly, backed the Alliance, such as Mon Calamari or the different Rebel safe havens. Furthermore, numerous Alderaanians who managed to survive the destruction of Alderaan became members of the Rebellion. However, these sources proved insufficient, particularly in the early stages of the Galactic Civil War. Thus, recruitment agents were essential to strengthen the Alliance's forces.
Agents working to recruit for the Rebellion sought out individuals within educational institutions like schools and universities, and even the Imperial Naval Academy. They also targeted unsatisfied members of the Imperial Survey Corps, young individuals evading the Imperial draft, and even figures from the galaxy's criminal underworld.
A bounty of 10,000 credits was offered on numerous planets for the capture and delivery of any recruitment agent to the Imperial authorities. However, capture or death wasn't the worst possible outcome for a recruitment agent who blundered. The Empire was known to use double agents, sending them to known recruiters, which resulted in devastating consequences for numerous Rebel outposts. Nevertheless, the Alliance was often able to detect these double agents during training. Furthermore, the Rebellion's legitimacy grew as the conflict progressed, and dissatisfaction with the Empire was widespread. It is believed that the Battle of Yavin led to a 23 percent increase in Rebel recruitment.
