Combat cloud car

Combat cloud cars served as both combat vehicles and patrol craft, bridging the capabilities of standard airspeeders and dedicated starfighters. Their operational ceiling reached up to 100 kilometers.

Overview

Constructed similarly to standard cloud cars, featuring combined ion and repulsorlift propulsion systems and a pressurized cockpit enabling high-altitude operations, these vehicles exhibited enhanced speed and agility, capable of functioning at altitudes nearing one hundred kilometers. They were equipped with additional armor plating and improved armaments, enabling them to engage space-faring fighters while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The implementation of standardized replacement parts also resulted in greater mechanical dependability compared to combat-modified airspeeders, reducing maintenance downtime. Furthermore, thanks to their ion engines, combat cloud cars could function in environments unsafe for vehicles reliant solely on repulsorlift technology.

Beyond their combat roles, these aircraft were also deployed in civilian capacities, including customs control and even managing traffic. Several well-known vehicle manufacturers produced combat cloud cars, including Bespin Motors, Aratech, Merkuun, SoroSuub, and Ubrikkian, the latter of which manufactured the Talon I combat cloud car.
