Cavern spider
A cavern spider was a species of subterranean creature, specifically a giant and hostile arachnid known as a gaping spider, native to the planet of Dathomir. Most members of the Spiderclan took after these silent, effective, and lethal predators.

These arachnids dwelled in subterranean locations such as the Nightspider Cult cave and the Rancor Cave found on Dathomir. Additionally, some cavern spiders were transported to the Geonosian Bio-Lab situated on Yavin 4.

The video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony and published by LucasArts before its shutdown on December 15, 2011, featured cavern spiders.
