Arno (stormtrooper)

A stormtrooper named Arno, a male Human, found himself stationed on the Forest Moon of Endor in 4 ABY. His post was aboard an All Terrain Armored Transport. During the initial phases of the Battle of Endor that year, Arno was among the stormtroopers present when Rebel Alliance Commander Luke Skywalker surrendered, asking to be presented to their commanding officer, Major Lesim. Arno, along with his fellow troopers, escorted Skywalker to Lesim, where the captive requested to be taken to the Dark Lord Darth Vader on the moon.

Biography

During the Galactic Civil War, Arno, a male Human, served the Galactic Empire as a stormtrooper, fighting against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Stationed aboard an All Terrain Armored Transport patrolling the Forest Moon of Endor in 4 ABY under the command of Major Lesim, Arno was on guard duty with four other stormtroopers outside their walker early in the Battle of Endor that year. At this time, they were approached by Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker, who intended to surrender himself, utilizing a mind trick through the Force to convince the troopers to escort him to their commanding officer. After taking possession of Skywalker's lightsaber, the troopers escorted him to the transport section of the walker to present him to Lesim.

Commander Igar with Luke Skywalker, who was initially captured by Arno and the other stormtroopers serving Major Lesim

Upon Arno and his fellow soldiers presenting Skywalker's lightsaber to Lesim, the major recognized Skywalker. Believing the capture of such a famous Rebel would earn him a commendation, he instructed Arno to retrieve his imager to capture a hologram with his prisoner. Lesim then agreed to Skywalker's demand to be brought directly to Vader, but not before again requesting his imager. Ultimately, another Imperial officer, Commander Igar, delivered Skywalker to Darth Vader aboard the moon. The Alliance historian Voren Na'al later documented the events of Skywalker's capture, based on reports gathered from both Skywalker and captured Imperial troops following the Battle of Endor.

Personality and traits

While Arno and his fellow stormtroopers were on guard duty outside the AT-AT walker, they were conversing and not taking their responsibilities with due seriousness. They were briefly taken aback when Luke Skywalker surrendered, but they complied with the Rebel's persuasive mind trick, with Skywalker considering stormtroopers' minds to be among the weakest and most easily manipulated in the galaxy. Upon seeing Lesim, the troopers immediately snapped to attention, and they cautiously moved away from Skywalker, even with blasters aimed at him, upon realizing he was the Rebel who destroyed the first Death Star and dueled Darth Vader.

Behind the scenes

The short story "The Capture of Luke Skywalker," penned by Michael Stern and featured in the 1990 West End Games sourcebook Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi, introduced Arno.
