Armored computer core

Specialized memory banks, known as armored computer cores, were engineered to safeguard data during starship accidents. To protect the information they contained, they employed features such as laminanium armor, multiple redundant backups, and occasionally, ejection mechanisms as a last resort. These cores, nearly impossible to differentiate from wreckage, were employed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic for the preservation of astrogation information, records of ship operations, and detailed mission reports. Their typical market value was 1,100 credits, and prominent examples included the Astralor Corp. "Black Hole Box" T-11 Armored Databank and the Loronar Corporation "Sole Survivor" Backup Computer Core.

Behind the scenes

The 2018 sourcebook, Fully Operational, for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game released by Fantasy Flight Games, initially introduced armored computer cores.
