1138 (Trade Federation)
1138, a B1-series battle droid, fought for the Trade Federation's Droid Army during the Naboo Crisis. Under OOM-9's command, 1138 participated in the Battle of Naboo. Although the droids secured an initial victory for the Federation, it proved fleeting; Anakin Skywalker's destruction of the Droid Control Ship orbiting Naboo deactivated all Federation battle droids.
Behind the scenes
George Lucas conceived 1138 for his 1999 movie, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, where it appeared as both an animatronic and a CGI character. The character's ID number, visible on its back, serves as one of several nods to Lucas' first feature film, THX 1138.
